  1. Thanks for that Tel999 - I'm still wiping away tears of laughter :D :D :D :D

Please lighten up CB1300 - He - nor any of the other 'comedians' who have replied were taking the P directly out of you mate  The fact is that no-one seems to be sure about the official use of that box and we all make up our own stories. Mine is that it is where I hide the drugs and cash in my senior pimpmobile. :winky:

Whilst its use is generally believed to be a first aid box, it does not have a Red or Green Cross on it. It would also be difficult to find by a stranger coming upon the car after an accident and therefore pretty much useless. And I have yet to hear of anyone finding one with any form of medical contents or seen any on the bay of E.

So you can make your own story up as you show your friends around your beloved motah as noone is likely to disbelieve you :lol:

  2. Hi nelly400

If my experience is anything to go by, this and various other random electrical problems, particularly with the central locking heralded Battery failure. With snow and ice covering most of our cars for the last few weeks and needing lights and heaters at full blast, batteries have taken a real pounding.

I suggest that you get your Battery tested and save yourself a lot of hassle by either charging or replacing it before you find yourself stranded, as I did.:blush:

    Regards

  3. Thanks for the update Steve and sorry about you having to drive a Transit :lol:

My little Christmas present from an unknown driver of a hole the size of a ten pence piece in my rear bumper is going to cost me £230 :angry:

Ah well :crybaby: I would only have spent it on one of my lady friends.

    :winky:

    Very good Steve

I am sure that my pal Terry off the Scorpio site will not mind me repeating this anecdote here

    The fencepost tortoise

While stitching up the hand of a 75 year old Devon farmer, who cut it on a gate while working cattle, the rural doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Gordon Brown and his appointment as Prime Minister.

“Well, you know,” drawled the old farmer, “this Brown fellow is what they call a fencepost tortoise.”

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a fencepost tortoise was.

The old farmer said, “When you’re driving along a country road and you come across a fence post with a tortoise balanced on top, that’s called a fencepost tortoise.”

The old farmer saw a puzzled look on the doctor’s face, so he continued to explain... “You know he didn’t get up there by himself, he definitely doesn’t belong up there, he doesn’t know what to do while he is up there, and you just have to wonder what kind of idiot put him up there in the first place...”

Well it made me smile :D

  5. OK RSteve, a couple of weeks have passed and I very much hope that everything still going smoothly.

My hope is sincere but having had the same sympathic and reassuring phone call as you appear to have had from the other guy's insurers - supposedly based in East Anglia - I know that they are a lying load of scumbags.

But I didn't give in and ended up getting through the call centre in India to higher levels and eventually talked to someone in their Chief Executive's office who was a proper decision maker and gentleman. I couldn't help laughing when I was told that the Chief Exec'a Office was in Exeter. But that guy quadrupled their first offer for my written off Scorpio and gave me an extra £1000 for what he agreed was their poor conduct of the matter.

  6. I entirely agree with the above sentiments.

A number of members here - you know who you are - have been particularly helpful to me in my short time as a member. But as I read through ALL of the old posts in the LS400 section soon after joining it was noticeable and very disappointing to discover how many people did not respond to their helpers and left all the readers wondering if there had been a successful outcome.

  7. Sorry to see that Steve but the seller should certainly have known the condition. We must be related because I would have cleaned the other three wheels first as well. :winky:

That wheel appears to have scrubbed up very well and I thought for a moment it was hallmarked. :o

Hopefully the vendor will chip in towards the cost of repair because I can't see you wanting to get rid and not put them on the car and do a serious bit of 'senior pimpin.'

    :)

  8. In the event that Benfur cannot help, you might also try a couple of the auto breaker sites on t'internet. They will email you with available complete mirrors within minutes of submitting your request and they include their telephone numbers. Make sure that the replacement is off a MK IV - generally identified as 'the one with the built in Sat Nav' as others will not fit.

I was quoted £475 for a complete near side door mirror just a few months ago. :crybaby: A local garage mended it for an hour's labour - £41 + VAT. B) B)

    Good hunting
