  1. it seems old habits die hard. just got a second opinion and the fronts do need doing. the rears however are fine with very little wear and i was told that there are already new pads on the back! so Lexus Stockport basically quoted be double what I needed - surely they can do better than this!
  2. just reading this post and its quite interesting. I don't know a great deal about replacing parts on cars or what to look for to identify things that need replacing, so I took my car into Lexus Stockport for a quick check up. I came out of there and was told that my brakes were 95% worn and that I needed new discs and pads all round as well as a new shock absorber because there was oil on the outside of one of them. total quote £850 which doesn't sound too bad for all the work. is the brake story at stockport lexus a common one? is there a good independent in the manchester area that can give a second opinon? Cheers.
  3. I went in to see Lexus today about the clunk. They have told me that its actually wear in the diff that is causing it. They said it's not anything I should worry about but that if I did want to fix it they would have to take apart the whole diff and replace the worn parts - or just replace the whole diff. Cheers for all your help. Dean
  4. Thanks for the responses. Tony, the faint clunk I hear towards the back of the car occurs when my foot is on the brake so it sounds like it will need looking at. Any ideas what it could be? Thanks, Dean
  5. I have spoken (over the phone) to Nottingham Lexus and was told that the clunk was a characteristic of Lexus'. Is this right? A bit more info: The clunk comes from the back of the car. If I move the gear from Park to Neutral and leave it there for a while then move into Drive I don't get the clunk, if I go from P to D or R to D relatively quickly I get the clunk. Any help is appreciated. Dean
  6. I just bought a 2006 GS 300. It drives great, the only concern I have is that when I select drive I hear a faint clunk towards the back of the car. Is this common? i assume this is a transmission issue. Will a fluid change resolve the issue or is it something more serious? Thanks in advance, D
