  1. tommy not sure what the difference is but i think ive got my one from my 99 still kicking around somewhere if its any good to you - just a bit of plastic that drops in the cubbyhole ?

  2. ficfarr s advice is not a bad idea mate - itll come down to time and tools tbh,and if you have the time to do it the tools wont stand in your way,you cant really make it any worse by having a go yourself and im sure the forum members here who have done this job before would offer advice and support when needed

  3. i dont think its wrong to get your car repaired properly ! most dent repair people i know can only pull dents out of metal not plastic ! if its bad enough to need filling why should someone have to drive round in a car with filler in it where it shouldnt be ? just depends if it will buff out really or if its deeper then who knows, filler repaint bumper etc or new bumper - i think its also relative to the condition of the car pre accident - whiteys car is gorgeous and dint free and also hes trying to sell it so why should he put up with anything short of perfection as it wasnt his fault

  4. good news- might be a good idea to plug a cheap cctv into an old laptop and place it on your vantage point covering the car park in case anything like that happens again - let me know if you want to know what kit to get ( about £70 in all and a laptop or desktop with 30 or 40 gig freespace on the hard drive - glad he owned up at least - insist on lexus approved repairer and a new bumper if its scuffed,,,why should you have filler in your car because of him

  5. im pretty sure all lexus would of done was to empty any old gearbox fluid out, change the filter and add new fluid tbh so £400 for that service sounds a lot anyway,,sorry this has happened rajesh - i imagine lexus will offer to take the money youve spent with them off the price of a refurb,,,, in all honesty as said earlier i doubt theyll refurb it in house so it would probably go off to a local specialist like the ones that quoted you £1300 ish ,,, if you went down that route at least you might keep the loan lexus while its being done and also have the piece of mind of a lexus warranty on work carried out - either way its not gonna be a cheap fix, sorry mate

  6. i feel for you mate - i have a similar problem with persons in space next to mine keep opening doors on my car chipping it and little dints - lexus seemed very soft paintwise so was one of a few factors why i bought a 4x4 with big sidesteps and rubgaurds on - i even raise the suspension to its highest every night now to make sure doors can only really hit my sidesteps - same neighbour also reversed out and clipped my car - denies everything of course !!! grrr dont they make your blood boil

  7. sorry binned mine but - if you are still looking for alternative sources of bits like that inc hd stuff and adjustable droplinks etc there was a thread on here with a guy posted a link to where all his goodies were from - just searched my bookmarks but cant of saved it but sparkystav was lookin at it too so might be worth a pm to him to see if he bookmarked it - if i get the chance ill try and go thru all my old posts and find the link later on if it helps

  8. Rajesh im really pleased they got it going for you and like to think my finger crossing helped ,, but ,, dont wanna be the voice of doom but unless you have some fluid leak from somewhere which lexus addressed which you havent mentioned i do wonder why you

    a- lost drive

b- how long it will last especially if its making a funny noise !

i think realistically you should use this period as a breathing space to get busy and either find a 2nd hand box or fone around to get the best price on a refurb - only saying this as it doesnt sound like lexus gave you an understandable reason for your loss of drive so id be extremely worried it could happen again tbh

on a brighter note at least you now have the option to drive the car to a place of repair - also worth considering i think youve used up all your free aa tows,,, not sure how it works but could be worth joining rac or increasing your tows so you dont find yourself stranded somewhere.

my old 200 auto used to whine very slightly in 1st gear which sounded a bit like a turbo whistle but really faint,, i know a few other 200 auto owners have this noise and consider it a trait of the box,is this the type of noise you have ?
