Most recent Lexus cars for last several years have a canbus vulnerability- a £2k device, disguised as a Bluetooth speaker, allows thieves to unlock and start a Toyota and Lexus vehicle without any keys: https://mag.lexus.co.uk/lexus-uk-statement-on-vehicle-theft/?fbclid=IwAR2u1DC_0mAo4_kSpK_1FLViLNyHJq0nAKctwfXCMxQi1CwuNiGBA10yY0w_aem_ATXzc0mSafM1xX72JZyfSo-7KpoTKXtkPQjmf6ToRhjQ_4GsDaGMH6Nf5ACoFWEW2pE

Lexus became the most stolen car brand in UK 2023 (as a percentage of cars on the road), with more Lexus stolen than Land Rovers…

    Oh that issue!

Funny how Toyota loves to encrypt the ECU so you can not really tune the car but love leave canbus wide open

I would maybe consider it, if the CANbus thing is fixed properly.... BUT I still think that the ES would be too large for me (small UK streets and car parks). I would probably end up going for the newest Civic.

In the US, the ES makes more sense than here.

    What Canbus thing?

  3. The ES is a plausible upgrade..  but it still feels like marmite... I cannot decide if I like it or loath it.

It's certainly a much bigger upgrade if you have kids to cart about.

Another sticky point is the price, there still expensive even for used.

The GS like the IS gas gone the way of the dodo ☹️

I performed this method as shown in the video. It worked (I got the flashing response on the cluster) and my lights seem better. Could it be placebo? Maybe. I didn’t measure where the light was but it seemed better. Time will tell.

Club Lexus has this same procedure noted on the forum, a PDF. I found that hard to follow.

The mistake I was first making was pulling the full beams flash (the stalk) before turning IGN to ON. IGN to ON first, then pull the stalk.

Thanks for posting. Next step might be new HID bulbs. They are over 10 years old now.

@matt8 since Lexus manually adjusted my headlights they seem better, still not been out on a pitch black road but defo feels better in general.  See my other post on how to adjust them manually the easy way.

So what steps did you do for the self leveling initialisation?  I'm still surprised the Lexus technician didn't know about it even when I mentioned it.

    Hello

    i have a question.

I bought a Lexus IS300h F sport 2013. I only have the light for tyre pressure. Is it possible to get the monitoring sistem for each wheel or does this car not have this?

    spacer.png

I have only the light on the right side. And i can not see the tyre pressure. Is it possible to get this whit some updates in the computer?

    Thanks

You need to buy the tpms module from eBay or AliExpress and make sure it compatible with your 2013 model.

Anyone else noticed the jump in insurance premiums I paid £346 last year but this year the cheapest I can find is £566.

    Dell

Same thing happened to me this year well annoyed, I've never claimed in over 20 years of driving.  General hike is blamed on EV cars!  Insurance company are greedy 🐷

  7. Spare wheel isn't ideal if you have a family and the boot is full.  I've no issue in purchasing a spare wheel and keeping it into he garage, In all my years all my flats have been while at home obviously from a nail the night before.  But I'm not fan of the sealant gunk it's just a shame in the is300h the Battery takes up the boot space.  I will also admit I've never had breakdown cover in the 25 years of driving what can ever wrong in the Toyota/Lexus 🤣 but in my view that is the middle ground.

  8. A few weeks ago car went for service and i was advised the Tyre Sealant has expired 2 years ago.... Funnily they never mentioned that in the last 2 services i had.

Anyway anybody know where i can get a replacement bottle from? LPD only sell the full kit and actually have 2 listed 1 at £72 and 1 at £108.

Or any suggestions for a 3rd part sealant bottle?

And to order the £78 kit from Japan with 6 day shipping is £25 + postage which im sure wont be that much 😂

  9. Just giving me final update on this.

I had MOT in December and the tester said the headlight was low but within tolerance levels and that despite try he couldn't reach the vertical adjustment screw and only did the horizontal.

Fast forward and i had my Service done at Lexus on Friday and i asked for headlights level to be looked at.

The technician stated they don't have an MOT station and thus don't have access to a lamp to check level but compared to the markings on their door the levels were lower but stated its a lower down car, he asked if i wanted them adjusted he could take car over to Toyota next door as they have an MOT station, i told them to go ahead.

So i went to collect the car and the technician said the MOT stations were fully booked so he couldn't access to the lamp but he made the adjust best he could while ensuring it doesn't fail MOT next time he also showed me how to adjust them.

    image.thumb.png.f1c389b56a98ec4b79477a09d38031d4.png

They vertical adjustment is made from the area in red (see bottom left and right in the image above)
Screwdriver is inserted into the plastic trim that runs along the bonnet.

Here is a closeup courtesy of @In_a_state

    image.thumb.png.4f7beadfb0f05bc1dce4ef346d722e99.png

I have not been on a dark road since the technician made the adjustment but im sure it will be far better visibility that what it was prior to it and next time i get an MOT i can tell the tester how to adjust the vertical alignment and get it done properly using their lamp.

    Hope this Helps 🙂

I might need to do this as 3 tires do not have the corresponding position on the display (front left tire pressure is shown as rear right pressure).

So i deflate the front left tire to 100 (1 bar) righ and rear right to 180? Ditto on the the other tires?

No need to restart the car afterwards?

The calibration never worked for me and seller refunded my money but here is how I fixed it, my theory was whoever painted the wheels randomly shoved the tpms into each tyre, which is fine if you do not have a display to give you pressure readings because if the tpms light came on you would need to check all 4 corners anyway.  But the tpms would originally be registered to each corner correctly so when you add a display you would find some corners display incorrectly.

In my case 3 corner's were incorrect.

    FL-RR

    FR-RL

I had to fix in in 2 phases.

Phase 1 swap rear tyres around:

    FL-RR

    RL-FR

    Now left side is fixed.

Phase 2 wait to replace all 4 tyres, then ask the tyre guy to swap the tpms on right side from front to back.

    RL-FR

    FL-RR

This is how I corrected each tyre corner.

Now I know which tyre has incorrect tyre pressure at any given time.

Update: So I bought those 2 rubber parts from Lexus Dealership (5 quid in total) and replaced them myself. It is waaay better now and the gap/rattle is almost gone. For perfection, one can add a bit of soft padding (the one on mine is worn out) on top of those rubber parts.

can you send a picture of them installed please.. i still cannot work out where they are supposed to be installed as there is no obvious holes for them.

Didn't know you could get these - when I was looking at mine a few months ago I found one of these - I suspected it might be from the lid but wasn't sure - I'm going to order some of those and replace them in that case - thanks

Just updated my last post, Lexus Part Direct sell them... i did't know they existed either until 5mins ago lol
