  1. It is a bit of a minefield reading through the vosa guidelines. Speaking to a friend who has 6000k aftermarket HID's in a projector headlamp about this, his car has sailed through the last 2 MOT's I will stick the H11's back in for the MOT to save any hassle on the day. I can't believe those who have 6000k aftermarket HID's in reflector style headlamps get away with it. They are unbelievably blue and blind the oncoming traffic.
  2. Cheers, I may just chance it, I can see there is no additional fee for an MOT re-test on 'Lamps'. Fingers crossed.
  3. I've recently fitted a set of 4300k aftermarket HID's, the light output is fantastic compared to the Osram Nightbreakers I had in previously. I am wondering how other forum members go on with having aftermarket HID's and the car going for an MOT? Mine goes into Lexus for an annual service and MOT soon and I was thinking would it be worth putting the Halogens back in for the MOT? I can see if it fails Lexus will put standard Halogens in and charge me for this. Cheers Vinny
  4. Yesterday I replaced my H11's with a pair of Mtec super whites 4350k and at the same time I installed the mtec 501 super white sidelights. I've found the sidelights a little blue, its not a major issue as I never have just the sidelights running alone but I'm looking for a white looking bulb to go alongside my H11's. Considering buying 501 LED's from ultra leds, just wondering if other forum members had any recommendations??? On a seperate note I found the MTEC H11's give off a cool white light and thy kick out as much light as the stock H11's. Vinny
  5. i got my leds from v-leds.com and ebay H11 bulbs? H11 is for the low beam which would mean you dont have HID? if so then dont replace this with another H11 type bulb that gives you better colour because the visible light is going to be seriously effected. I mean yes you can get like PIAA spark blue 6000k bulbs and they will look really nice and blue. BUT.... at night you wont be able to see much. The visibility is terrible. My recommendation is that if you dont have factory HID, then fit an aftermarket HID kit for the IS250. XenonDepot.com are very reputable and i've used them many times. These replacement bulbs that have higher kelvin ratings are not really for replacing main low beams, they are more costmetic and used for things like high beam, fogs etc. Cheers for your reply, I think i'll invest in a HID kit Vinny
  6. For the parking lights i've tried 13SMT LEDs but now on 19SMTs which are much better. its all about preference. You could get SMTs or SMDs both are good. Where did you get yours from? I've seen some on ultraleds. I've also seen some ultra white H11 bulbs at hids4u which I think i'll throw in to get rid of that horrible yellow colour in the lights.
  7. Do you mean the puddle lights under the mirror or the ones by the leg space? I've changed my mirror puddles lights. In order to get anything white colour you need to go for leds. the bulb type is 501 W5W 194. go for the SMD leds with a minimum of about 5 SMD LEDS per bulb for a good level of brightness Exactly same type of bulb as the puddle light. once again get yourself SMD leds but for the parking light you might want something much higher in terms of SMDs per bulb If you have HID system then you will have D4S, when you startup the car the AFS light on the dash will light up for a few seconds and then turn off (unless AFS is set to off). If no AFS light shows on the dash, then you do not have factory HID, which will mean its H11 Cheers for the quick response Ahmed, I'll go for the 194 leds for the mirror lights and 194 leds for the parking lights. Any idea on how SMD's per bulb I should go for the parking lights? I'm not sure if I've seen AFS on the dash but will check next time i start it up. Thanks Vinny
  8. I’ve had my 56 plate IS250 auto for around six weeks now and I’m loving every minute of driving in it although I only get to drive it at weekends (astravan in the week). ML audio is amazing!!! Fuel consumption isn’t to bad town driving I get anything between 24mpg – 31mpg. Recently doing a 250 mile motorway trip I got 39mpg averaging at 80mph where possible so I’m happy with that. I have a few questions regarding the lights…. Has anyone changed the puddle light bulbs for cool white/led bulbs? If so any recommendations? The parking light looks yellowish compared to the whiter looking main beam…can these be changed to a cooler white bulb? Same goes for the high beam. How do I know if the low beam bulbs are H11 bulbs or D4S bulbs? Sorry if I’m asking silly questions about the lights but I’d like them to have a cool white look about them. Thanks Vinny
  9. I was thinking of burning DVD-A discs but its pointless unless I do the hack which i'm not prepared to do. Still the 6 mp3 discs equate to 4.2gb....thats enough for now I think. As for the sensors I think I'll get them done by Lexus even though I don't get the dash warning.
  10. If you have the MM package then you have the rear camera regardless of your spec IIRC Yeah it does have the reverse camera but I wanted front and rear sensors aswell. I'd rather have lexus's own that give you a warning on the dash rather than 3 party sensors.
  11. Search on this forum for "Sat Nav hack" and you will find a detailed guide on how to do it. You actually don't need to hack the sat nav anymore as buying a new map disc will allow entry while on the move. But the hack can be used to enable mp3 browsing, phone dialing and DVD playback while in motion. Does the disc allow browsing files and folders aswell or id that still locked? Vinny
  12. Cool, thanks steve, I'll look for he hack on here, as for the smell i think its down he car not having a clean for a while, hopefully the guys at Glasgow will do a good job. Think i'll need parking sensors fitted, once i've got the car i'll speak to lexus bolton to see how much they will charge. Thanks again Vinny To have parking sensors fitted was about £800 a few years ago and for that you got 4 at the front and 4 at the back. I have a look into that once I have the car Cheers

  14. Picking up my IS250 in Argento Ice with ML audio and MM package on Thursday. When I inspected the vehicle it hadn't been cleaned inside and there was a funny smell, I was advised the car will be fully valeted to bring it up good as new. I am hoping a full valet will get rid of the 'funny' smell, if not can anyone recommend a decent interior cleaner? How good is the Lexus valeting service? I am pretty sure it was the seats that smelt. Regarding the ML audio...are you able to browse files/folders on mp3 disc or is this disabled like sat nav entry whilst the car is in motion? The car doesn't have prking sensors....can these be added by my local lexus dealer? Thanks Vinny
