Hi The illuminated surround light on the ignition switch of my LS400 (1998) has gone out. I have tried the forums but I am probably not putting in the right words.
It is not top priority but I like everything to work. Is it a simple job to replace the bulb(s) ? Any help much appreciated.

Hi My LS400 mk4 came with Kumho tyres when I bought it a year ago. I am a fairly sedate driver but they seem pretty good and did me well in last winter's snow.

If you continue pressing the lock button the indicators will flash and then it will beep
-
I'm just wondering about a beep when just locking or unlocking normally (i.e. not when a window is open). The manual says it's supposed to beep.
If you continue to press the lock button after the indicators have flashed it will beep. (1998 LS400)

Could it be the speedo sensor. I had this problem with my old Scorpio. Managed to get a pre-owned sensor from a salvage place
and after fitting all was well. On second thoughts, if it corrects with a bit of a thump it probably is just sticky.

Mines done this fr the last 2 years. Intermitantly. I just give it a slap on the top of the pod. It hasnt got any worse so i dont bother about it.

Hi Guys
The mats are made to fit the various curves and 'ins and outs' The drivers side only has the holes for fixing.
There is also a double-thickness pad where you rest the heel of your right foot on the driver's side - I think I might have preferred that bit to be rubber,
but hell - they were free. I think you can talk to Josh or Dan at simplycarmats (01827 312322) and probably arrange what you want and the quality you want.

Hi All Lexus Lovers
A few days ago I received an email from Steve to say that my name/membership number had been drawn at random to win
a set of car mats for my '98 LS400. I never win anything. I followed Steve's instructions and 'phoned Josh at simplycarmats.co.uk
and placed my order - beige mats with beige trim. They arrived yesterday and they are great - top quality. Many thanks to Steve, the LOC and to
simplycarmats. It shows that it is worth being a member of the LOC.

You jammy *******! The most expensive replacement item (tyres aside) in over six years on my '98 LS, has been a set of mats.
Well done that man!
hello tony
how does the quality of the mats compare to the original mats and do they have the holes to secure them down like the originals?
please advise

Hi. If you look at the Autotrader website you will see 1997 LS400s going for between £1000 and £4,000. I paid £2,600 for my 1998 (112,000 miles) in December
but that was from an extremely generous man and I probably should have paid more as he asked for £3,000 but I agreed to pay for a couple of small bits of
body damage.

Hi everyone, I have a 97 LS400 that has been my pride and joy for the last couple of years and I would love to have some guidance of the current market value. To help I have noted down some information:
180,000 miles
Gold (more silver/gold)
Fully serviced, incl timing belt, followers, water pump, brake disks and pads, wiper arms and blades
Fitted tow bar at huge expense (don't tell the wife!) and only used to tow a small caravan for 200 miles
Scratch to passenger rear door and some light scratching on boot lid, otherwise very straight
I expect to lose money as I get bored and change my cars every couple of years. This car is a fantastic drive and the quality is excellent. I am buying and old diesel Range Rover as I want a scruffy dog and the Lexus is far too beautiful to be subjected to such degredation!
All help of price and where to sell would be appreciated. I am realistic and would love the car to go to an enthusiast who would appreciate the car, as I have spent £££ on her!

As a new LS400 (1998) owner I was wondering if one should use fuel additives (fuel injection) from time to time. I use to add them to the tank of my old Scorpio but I can't say it made much difference.

I recently bought a 1998 (S reg) LS 400. I just love it. I need a centre hub cap - 18cms - standard for that model. Any idea
where I can get some cheap new ones or old ones that I can clean up ? Also the steering wheel telescopic option is not working although the tilt action is. Does the telescopic have a different fuse to the tilt or do you think it needs a new motor ?
Hi Steve LS400
Many thanks for the welcome. Useful advice. The search area had a lot of info about the tilt/telescopic steering mechanism.
The hub caps I am looking for are the same as the ones that MJM 444 is looking for - standard for the 1998 model. No luck on fleabay - probably have to buy new from Lexus.

Hi Steve,
Many thanks for your advice. I finally got around to doing the work yesterday - Maplins did not have the bulb (out of stock) so got
it from Halfords (Halfords part no:284 - 12V 2.3W). Fairly simple job. The Mk 4 configuration very similar to the earlier model illustrated.
Re-assembly a little tricky but the whole job took about seven minutes. Would have liked an LED but could not find one - maybe later.
