  1. I know a guy selling a standard head unit with no Error 3 on it if you want to replace it as is, or if you prefer you can go the aftermarket route (though you'll need an amp bypass cable and aftermarket fascia to make it all fit on the Sport).

My stereo now looks like this:

No idea on the heated seat I'm afraid though, possibly it's just the fuse though I expect the garage might have been able to fix that one :) You might need to replace the seat itself, they quite often pop up on eBay...

  2. Excellent idea Rudus, I've been looking at post after post on here, I'm going to paint the calipers black and also the hub part of the wheel, The Ronal R42 18s will show that off lovely.

I think i'm going to do a few bits like, debadged sport grille, debadge the body, perhaps do some cosmetic work to the lights, i want it to look subtle.....i'll post pics as I go......don't laugh though, cos it is totally stock at the moment, complete with scuffed to hell 5 spoke factory 17s, ans looks like its on stilts!!

And remember I am a virgin to this. I've been reading about Ormi's car, and it terrifys me!!

Everyone's car started out stock Olly... even Stav's IS200 was once only 150 odd bhp, and now it sports a rather large single turbo engine conversion! Mine is pretty much stock as well, and it's the first car I ever made any changes to as well, so you are not alone...

I heartily recommend looking at the group buy section for jason's stainless steel dials, even I managed to fit them following his instructions and it's one of the simplest and yet most definitive mods you can make to the interior... Totally changes the look, in a good way :D

And ormi's car isn't terrifying at all - until you're in it and he floors it, pinning you to the seat :D

  3. I would prefer to have genuine parts rather than FG personally. With eBay, I ended up paying £110 for my TTE bumper, £80 for my side skirts, and £130 for my rear lip (but I bought that straight from Toyota), so total cost about £70 more than your FG guy is quoting, but I know the parts are genuine. I've heard that FG kits are easier chipped and the like. I'd advise you to hold out and keep an eye on eBay, especially on breaking cars ads as they sometimes have the kits on them and you can pick the bits up for a good price (like I did with the skirts).

I had the bits I have painted by a local guy, total paint cost about £280, and fitting cost me a few beers, since Ormi is a fantastic bloke and lives just up the road from me

  4. em it goes up to just under £1000 ouch!!.........yip so the wife can stay on their!!lol

Can I put her on my policy too?:whistling:

To Dinho...premiums have gone up massively recently due to the huge number of claims in the last 18 months from things like flooding. Insurance companies having to fork out because half of scotland got flooded last year and had their cars written off...someones gotta put the money back in their pocket. :whistling:

On the plus side, from the end of next year (I think) european ruling has stated thats its going to be illegal for insurance companies to penalise male drivers based on their gender.

So on average, premiums for young male drivers could go down by 10%, whereas they could go up by as much as 25% for young women!

Interesting that them 'equalising' them would result in such widely different percentages being applied... who thinks they just don't want to put mens insurance down the 25% they're putting womens up? Just another way to charge more overall, if they cut one set of prices by 10% and the other set rises by 25%!

  5. Well if you have a few hundred quid spare you can still (I believe) get them direct from Lexus/Toyota, but I got it for £110 on eBay... You just have to watch out for the fiberglass replicas going cheap :)

And yeah, it's a full front bumper as opposed to the TRD front lip that attaches to the standard bumper...

If you're particularly flush I know where you might be able to pick up a legana bumper for around the £700/800 mark

  6. :) The sports grille is a good idea if you are planning the TRD kit, though I went for the TTE front bumper instead, you can see the difference between standard and how it now looks below:

Fairly big difference to the looks I reckon :hehe:

  7. Not another IS200 owner ! LOL :D only joking us LS400 owners are always outnumbered :D

Welcome to the LOC there is lots of info on the forums and plenty of owners always willing to help with problems and advice and don't forget modifications!

Feel free to post up some pictures.

There's a lot of us about, but you LS & RX owners post a shedload more than we do in general ;) :tomato:

  8. Well you've already got non standard wheels on it...

That's the standard grille though, the "sports grille" was an option, even on the sport! You can generally pick them up for about £40-50 on eBay, search for eBay seller lexusbirm, or pm ACLex on here (He's a Lexus parts manager and might get you a discount)

    Best colour too... ;)

  9. I am gobsmacked Ormi! Did your car used to be a Ford Fiesta or something, how is that price possible! wow lol

Sprinter I'd say you are gettin a good deal, weird thing is in Feb when I did the quote, I could of been insured for less than £900 a year, so I cant understand how this £500 all round anual price jump is justified.

Ormi has... let's say fairly unique circumstances around his policy :D Though I wonder what the cost would be if you took the Mrs off the policy, Ormi? :D

  10. I *THINK* that the altezza is the same as the IS200 on this, but not 100% sure. I do know that the IS has non-standard connections on the stereo and when I fitted my new stereo, I had to bypass the stock amplifier with an amp bypass lead (available from eBay, and you'll find lots on here about them if you use the search function).

    Mine now looks like this:
