Use the LOW level marker as the marker. It's based on the intake pipe you see.

Calipers that don't seize ... but I guess time will tell
Automatic dimming glass all round (for when the suns out)
Fair point on the calipers but the auto dimming glass is a bit far fetched for a standard car in this class don't you think?

Don't get me wrong, it's a great car, but Lexus have overlooked some very simple things that the 3GS should have. They are, in my opinion, as follows:
1. A sunglasses holder where the sunroof controls would normally be (when there's no sunroof).
2. A boot light that comes on automatically, and therefore, one that you can't leave on accidentally.
3. Illumination on the seat memory controls and door lock buttons.
4. Variable illumination levels on the footwell and door handle lights.
5. Brighter puddle lights.
6. A boot and passenger area 12v power point.
7. Cooling ability in the armrest and/or glove compartment.
8. Iphone compatible Bluetooth (for phonebooks).
9. 19" wheels from the factory
Anything I've missed? -
Quick update after a couple of weeks of ownership.
This car is EPIC! It's comfortable, smooth, quiet and refined. It's also very VERY FAST! Once you hit the PWR and SPORT buttons this thing is extremely rapid, especially getting onto the throttle after a bend/corner.
There are, as can be expected, a few areas on the vehicle that could be improved, however, these are just personal niggles.
It's also a bonus that my wife is getting 2 weeks to a tank of fuel rather than only 1 in her Jag.

Hi Paul,
Do you have any idea if the batteries are still covered for 1 year if you have done the service at Toyota ? Other members were saying that having the service done at Lexus they will give you 1 year warranty on the batteries.
Kind regards,
Adrian
You need the Lexus Hybrid Healthcheck for that warranty. I'm not sure if the warranty still stands if there have been services missed inth epast (or done elsewhere).

Iphone? If so, then I'm afraid that it's not possible to do it directly.

I texted the seller but he doesn't seem interested. :eerrrmm:

What is your advice on storing your winter/summer tyres when the other tyres are fitted:
Inside or outside?
Inflated or deflated?
On their sides or ends (you know what I mean)?
On wheels or off wheels?

Here is the original car from the show.
On here: http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_28827-Lexus-IS-300-XE10-2001.html
Here it is for sale now (what a shame). :megaangry:
Although I have a feeling it's just been sold. It's MOTd but no tax.

Lovely. Especially the colour.

Yokohama's have been proven to provide one of the best dry grips going.
They have a high wear rate in my experience though.

Here is our new (to us) 2008 GS450h SE. Black on black with Mark Levinson.
The drive home was great. This thing is EXTREMELY rapid, and we got 44mpg on the run from Leicester to North Wales.
I've just got to read the manual now.
-
Does it not have a "SNOW" button?
-
I wonder if it's on the original tyres?
-
I've just bought one of these for my 2008 GS450h. I've yet to test it.
Looks to work well though if you have an AUX socket.
-
Thanks chaps.
Well, the car has had it's multi-point check and service by Lexus, everything was fine. The HPI car check has been done, so we'll be picking it up on Saturday. Pics will follow on Sunday. :hocus-pokus:

This is being looked into by Admin :)
Is there any result of this? I was considering joining but this sort of thing puts me off but doesn't surprise me.

Kumho Ecsta Sport are very good too.

My sessantas performed very well on my last trip to the Nurburgring. That was very wet, although I was in an S6.
-
Interesting. What will be the difference between the sessantas and vortis?
-
Most of the top makes are fine. I would personally avoid Pirelli though.

Kumho are a good brand for the money, as are vredestein.

Has anyone fitted a set of 20"wheels on their Mk3 GS without any further modifications like lowering or rolling the wheel arches?
If so, how do they look? What width did you go for? What tyre size are fitted? Do they rub? What is the ride like?
Pictures would be useful to.
