  1. Some of you may recall stories 10-15 yrs ago of the impact that the Rugby tranmission aerial was claimed to have on Audis driving up the M1, I believe that some claimed that the engine stopped. Well I have found something similar on the LS430. Driving on the M40 c. 1 mile east of Junc.2, (Beaconsfield), the alarm pings and the VSC warning light comes on. I have now replicated this 3 times in both directions. The alarm eventually goes off of its own accord, or on re-starting the car away from the area. Lexus UK confirm that relatively high energy microwaves can cause this issue, e.g. they have examples around the military installations in Portsmouth. NB. An article in the Sunday Times 2 weeks ago described a new USA weapon which uses focussed microwaves to "kill" the electronics in weapon systems. On my example at Beaconsfield, just north on the M40 at this point is an MOD/Govt centre which is known locally as a language centre, ( Gurkhas are seen locally), but there obviously may be more nefarious activities there. Has anybody else had the symptom?
  2. I bought Nokian WRG2s just before this month's snow, and for once I have done the right thing! I drove through everything including one foot of snow on ice with no problems whatsoever. I got them through MyTyres who have a deal with a German distributor, so there is no problem with supply. The tyres are std LS430 size, 245/45/18 and cost £128 each delivered. Came in 4 days as promised, and I had them delivered to my local garage who fitted them. I still have c.8000 miles left in the existing tyres so they are storing them for me until the Spring.
  3. Many thanks, a masterly summation of the issues. I'll try wet and dry for starters, and then "bite the bullet".
  4. According to the dash display I have a failed front offside parking sensor. Surprise, surprise at £205 each I am looking for cheaper alternatives, if there are any. Any advice gratefully received.
  5. I have a 2004 LS 430 with Premium Pack. a)I wish to add iPod support, with item display, and I understand that the Lexus product has "issues". Any advice please? b)I also wish to upgrade the SatNav, including Europe, to a newer version, not necessarily the latest. Regards.
