  1. When I said dealer I didn't mean Lexus dealer or even Franchised car dealership. It wasn't a private single car sale either though just a trader with about 20 cars working from home. I must admit I feel terribly embarrassed at missing such a simple check. I shall give him a call on Monday, but don't hold much hope. The coincidental thing is that bay one in Aldershot is just round the corner from the "dealer" from whom I bought the car :D (Absolutely no aspersions intended - just pure coincidence) It is, I'm impressed all the same.
  2. his car has 17's on rather than the 16's they normally have, theres always 17's on ebay induvidually and as theres quite a few they are normally quite cheap How do you know they are 17's? - I don't even know, but then remember I'm a bit dumb on these things. I had a quick look on ebay and was immediately confused and I must say I wouldn't describe £450-£650 for a single wheel (no tyre) particularly "cheap" It is a long time since I last ventured into a scrap yard (perhaps some 40 years) they were not welcoming places even then. I'm quite happy going to one specific for a part I know they have but phoning every breaker's yard in Berkshire or worse still traipsing around them, even if I knew where they were, does not appeal. I must admit, as I said dumb, that I could just pop into Halfords or somewhere similar and order one.
  3. Thanks, reassuring that they are both masters. and the missing key number strip - important?
  4. OK, I guess your amazement at this. A s/h purchase and yep I didn't check (well I thought I did but then I couldn't have) So I know there is no legal requirement to have one - just if you do it has to comply. But it does give a certain peace of mind. I presume they are available at a price, any suggestions? I will be contacting the dealer - but don't hold much hope, buyer beware and all that. As with all s/h purchases you have to expect some issues.
  5. Sorry to bring up the subject of keys but I am a little confused being a newbie to Lexus. With the car, a s/h purchase 3rd owner, I was given 3 keys 2 black and 1 grey and a locking wheel nut adapter with code number. All three keys only have a lock and a unlock button. In the manual It suggests that only one of the black keys is a "master" and that it should have 3 buttons. Does this mean I am missing the master and could this be a problem in the future? The grey key appears to work as described it locks/unlocks doors and starts the engine but doesn't fit the glove box. I gather I should have also been supplied a metal strip with the key number - I was not - is this another problem?
  6. Having just purchased a s/h (3rd owner) IS300 and new around these parts, as to be expected I have a few questions and problems. First up is in the documentation pack I found a form "change of registered owner (form d)" Now it seems like a sensible move to send this off. But what exactly does it do and is it of any value for the £20 fee requested?
  7. Yep, found that thanks, though it just seemed to have a lot more about the IS200 than the IS300/ Remembering I am very new, just how relevant are the discussions on the IS200 to owners of the IS300? Other than the engine size and gearbox type are they fundamentally the same, or are they much different - every part/operation and operation incompatible?
  8. Collected today Well chuffed - now to enjoy it B)
  9. Thanks for the welcome. Photo to be taken and added hopefully at weekend (weather permitting) One thing about the forum I've found confusing, as a newbie, why are the models not in separate forums? I have looked in on several threads (the titles not being specific) only to find they are discussing IC200 or other models.
  10. The guy selling the car said there was an owner's club - so I Googled and found this site.
  11. Just thought I'd better say Hi I am soon to become an owner of a 2004 IS300 Sport Cross Navigator and was looking for reviews and information in the search engines and found this site. It only seemed natural to join :) It will be my first Lexus though familiar with Toyota. I'm hoping for many years of troublefree and carefree motoring. The car has recently had a full 60K Lexus service and looks a dream - just itching to pick up the keys. I'm off now to read up on everything this site has on the IS300 (something of a rarity on the roads).
