  1. This happened to a car at work, I work at a car supermarket and an IS came back for warranty work and the mechanic left the key on the drivers seat and mysteriously the doors locked themselves. He managed to open it by operating the key buttons with a long piece of stiff wire. I stayed to watch as I was naturally intrigued as I have an IS myself. It took him 15-20mins to get the angle right and operate the button. Hope this helps!
  2. I think you can via a screw underneath, although there's enough room around the tail pipe to use some Autosol and wirewool to get them shining again. Fair point, I only use Autoglym as I had some lying around (from my father and previous car) and I just seem to add to my collection. You just seem to stick to what you know I suppose. Although reading on Detailing World, Meguirs stuff gets very good reviews, thanks for the tip. =D
  3. Thanks, I used Hammerite direct to rust metal paint. I simply wirebrushed the calipers clean by leaving them on the car and painted them in place. I used a 1/4 inch brush for the big bits of the calipers and a smaller artists brush for the smaller, detailed parts ie. near the pads.
  4. Hello folks, i'm reasonably new on here, i've been driving my IS250 SE-L for around a month now and i'm absolutely loving the experince. Any way over the past couple of days i've rocked up over 10 hours cleaning time on her so thought i'd show off my effort. -I've cleaned, polished & waxed my wheels by removing them from the car -Cleaned and painted my brake calipers in silver -Polished and waxed my exhaust tips -Thouroughly hoovered the interior -Cleaned and treated the leather -Polished windows inside & out -Applied a waterproof coating to interior carpets, mats & boot floor -Washed the exterior using a power washer, snow lance and wash mit -Clayed the whole exterior -Washed again -Polished exterior & inside the door shuts -Sealed exterior -And finally waxed exterior & door shuts (I used all AutoGlym products throught the clean) Pictures:
  5. Go for the JDM yellow look, I did this on a previous car and the results looked good in contrast to the pure white headlights. B)
  6. LOL, it's the dreaded advertising promotion that annoys everyone in the area, especially employees! :P
  7. Hello forum members, i'm new here (as you probably guessed) and i've purchased my first Lexus. It's an IS250 SE-L with MM and Auto in Cadoxton Slate, the car also seems to have F-sport wheels on it? Not complaining as they set the colour off lovely. I've only had a quick test drive in it as I was at work (car salesman in Available Car car supermarket) but will take it on a more thorough road test over the next few days. On the test drive I noticed the dreaded dash rumble and reading threads on the forum it seems that not only very early cars are suffering with this issue (mines a '57 plate). Anyway the only trouble I seem to be having is getting cheap insurance (i'm 18, nearly 19) and it seems those few months makes a huge difference to quotes. Anyway here's a quick picture of my beauty (appologies about angle and quality, was a quick mobile phone snap, will post much better shots when she's officially mine) Ryan
