  1. Love my MK1 !!!!!! Love going into the filling station and buying a top up of petrol for a fiver!!! (LPG conversion) people thinking "he wont get far with that" It's a lot of car for little money. My lady friend say's that if I could get my car through the front door, up the stairs, into the bedroom, I'd.... Sorry too much information!!!
  2. Hi. OK perhaps not a "big big" bill - if it breaks in your garage at home!!! If it goes when your halfway down the motorway 100 miles from home, could be a different story. As it is 27K overdue, would still advise changing it a.s.a.p.
  3. Hi all. Cambelt should be changed at 63K then again at 126K (Service intervals 9K) I'd get it done asap. If it goes, you're in loadsa trouble with a big, big bill.
  4. Hi. Have GS300 MK1 with LPG. LPG tank replaces spare wheel. No problems after 13K of usage. LPG here 29p per litre. Have not noticed performance change LPG/Petrol. However, a lot off change out of a £20.00 note when you fill up with LPG!!! My car may be for sale soon as now need an estate for work purposes. 1994 Private Plate. Perl/White. 125K. LPG wheels re-furbished and colour coded. Just had timing belt changed. New boots. 11month MOT. £????
  5. Hi. I don't find my tyres (MK1 GS300) to be really expensive. Put two Pirelli P6000s on 18/06/03. Total price £208.84 including valves, off vehicle balancing (taking care caus the wheels have just been refurbished at £85.00 each - but worth every penny!!!) and including the dreaded VAT. You just gotta shop around!
  6. Hi. Main dealers and indeed most garages hardly ever offer a 'trade' sale to a member of the public. The buyer always brings it back for something to be done - then it gets argumentive and you don't need that in your showroom!! Most main dealers have several 'trader' contacts who fight hard for the 'jucy' p/exes and this is a very jucy p/ex!!! One thing that worries me is that you may have been 'hooked' Just like the 'spoof car routine' the car that's advertised that doesn't exist! You then get a phone call to say that the car you were interested in was poor quality, but a much nicer one has now arrived - albeit 2K more expensive. All the above makes the world go around in the motor trade - but in the end there's only one person who makes the profit - the guy who is selling the car you buy!!
  7. Hi again. Noted what mudzs has just said, about Lexus dealers putting everything right, before re-sale. But this car is being offered for sale, apparently by a Lexus dealer, needing £500 work to be done, including wheel refurb. If they were `going on` with this deal i.e. to retail their part exchange, it would have to be in perfect condition, with a warrantee etc. They must have given at least 4K for the car in p/e and would either trade it out for 4K plus a drink, or refurbish it themselves and retail it for 6/7K allowing enough profit to haggle with the prospective new owner and support the car during the free dealer warrantee period.
  8. Hi. Sounds `too good to be true`??? Most Lexus dealers would trade the car out, it being too old for re-sale by a main dealer. They should have given more that 4K for it in p/e. If it's not an import and the mileage is genuine and the bodywork/paintwork/leather is right (check for alignment of doors, boot, bonnet) then this could be your Lucky day!!! Hope it all works out well for you!
  9. Hi. My Lexus has covered some 40K with this gas conversion - with no problems whatsoever. Considerable savings with LPG at 29p per. litre. No noticable changes in performance if switched from petrol to gas. This conversion fitted proffessionaly mind - not one of these bodge jobs!! Back to the plugs. Lexus recommend a gap reduction of 0.2mm from the norm.
  10. Hi. Does anyone know if the spark plug gaps should be altered to suit GS300 MK 1 with LPG conversion. Have heard that they should be reduced?? Also, are the Bosch 'equivalent` plugs suitable? Or will they give me problems. (Bosch plugs just been fitted by non-Lexus garage).
