Hey guys, I was helping my friend out with a lift late last night as there were no taxis avaialble and during the large snowfall we got in Nottingham and I soon realised how awful summer tyres and our RWD vehicles are to tackle the snow. Managed to get stuck twice on hills (thankfully I had people come and push me twice!) so its something I definitely want to have for the colder winter months.

I happen to have a set of spare 18" alloys I acquired so was hoping to get some good recommendations of a winter tyre setup. I know some people have suggested 16s and 17s are superior but given I already have these I figured if someone could provide some solid recommendations that would be brilliant.

A cheap set of winter tyres would be better than a seto of summer tyres , i had nexen winter on a couple of years ago ( is 250 )and  drove around land rovers sports in the snow as they were stuck . they were brilliant .

  2. Hi im also looking at tyres for the front and noticed these by   235/40R19 MAXXIS VS EV 96W XL SILent  for ev motors , With a db of only 68 !!!!  & fuel  B, wet A  & 96 load rating.. ,  and as prev mentioned a W rated tyre on a T  rated vehicle is way over the top ... i have used maxxis 225/45R17 MAXXIS HP5 94W XL  on my prelude 200 bhp vti and was very impressed..... what are peps thoughts .

Learned forum friends, next year I shall be travelling to various hostelries in Cambridgeshire and the surrounding counties in my capacity as the bass player in a local band. Having seen some of the venues that I'm likely to be visiting, the parking is not entirely Betsy-friendly. I was thinking therefore of getting a "Gig-Car". Something smallish so it's easy to park in confined spaces and of an age where if it gets scratched by a drunken punter, I won't go all axe-wielding homicidal maniac until I find the culprit. Any thoughts on suitable contenders? I was wondering about a Yaris, i20, Kia Ceed or something of that ilk. It just need to be able to transport me, a bass guitar or two and two speaker cabinets so a folding back seat would be spot on.

Hi I sell fiestas and would rate them as the yaris. In 10 months only put one claim on a fiesta .(over 50 sold)  Hope that helps.

Personally I’d go back to Honda having had a few, all of which were excellent. Lexus tempted me away, and I’ve been very happy with my NX and RX, but this specific issue and the seeming lack of urgency from Lexus is making me think twice about another one.

I had hondas for 26 yrs the later stuff 2008- wasn't that good its why I chose lexus .......

  5. after seeing this on a us gs 300 pic 1.  i always wanted one so i looked at the gearknob for my rc300 and gear cover and he presto ......also painted the wood bits on interior piano black will post when all fitted ..

Hi Guys - just curious, aside from the faux pas of being dumb and not removing the IS22d badge from the boot, what else appears wrong with the car in the pics? I agree it sounds like bit of a Frankenstein from the description but the badge mis-step and exhaust back pipes aside it looks clean to me and not 'rough' in the pics shown. Am I missing something obvious as a few posters have suggested it looks rough based in the pics, but I am not seeing anything obvious, so pls help as it appears my eye is not too well trained for these things :)

I spoke to the guy who said the car went straight to the workshop..but the pics sent had F badge on back immediately after accident then pic of it loaded on recovery truck had 220d on it .......7 owners and cat s is too much IMO.

  8. throttle controller from tunit DOES NOT go into the obd port it takes the place of the connection of the throttle through the tunit box (which is now bluetooth) to the cars ecu . the difference is as quoted above , it woke my car up . i have one on my rc which had the most dreadful throttle unless in sport mode to now totally changing the cars reaction time ... "reaction time " ......its the difference between a spint in wellington boots to running in running shoes .

if you would like one please contact me .

  9. from the lexus forum in usa ." I just installed a throttle controller on my 2003 SC430 and all I can say is WOW! I've made quite a few modifications to the car and this was the easiest to install (5 minutes tops with no tools) and the best bang for the buck. Gone is the annoying throttle lag. It' like the car woke up from a nap after nine years. Way to go Apexi."
