Thanks for the replies guys :)
Anyone on here near me fancy showing me their car? I'll go for the MT6 then, there are plenty of 'em at auction which is a good thing!. Most of the cars I've seen in white have the legana kit on there, not sure whether I want black/gunmetal or white..
Quite impressed with the quotes of mpg, giving it large and getting 25mpg isn't bad at all!! my MR2 manages around 70 miles on 20quid of finest optimax.
Hopefully I'll post up in a few months time or so with some pics of the motor.
is your name mark? from night-spirit?
if not welcome anyway and nice choice if you go for the altezza B)

i have an altezza rs200 with the nav system
unfortunately everything is in japanese does anyone know how to convert it to english
i think this has been asked in the past and the bottom line is no - It would be cheaper to ditch the system and get something else iir.
Do a search on theses threads I'm sure something comes up :winky:

Had a calm rational chat with the wife tonight - I explained the reasons why importing again wasn't a teriible idea, she explained her worries about chucking good money after bad.
After rationally listening to each others arguments, we both agreed I'm a knob, and I should just do as I'm bloody well told.
So it's UK registered, or nothing.

hahaha, sorry dont nkow if it was meant to entertain but i found it amusing as most of my conversation with regards to cars goes a similar way - to start with. All I do is say fine ok and mention nothing of it for a few days, weeks if you can hold out. I basically said ok I'll can that idea full stop.
then after a few weeks take her out for a nice meal or somewhere that will lighten her mood gifts and stuff normally help and subtly mention that after trying to concentrate on something else, an altezza chosen to YOUR own spec is still something you want... Well thats how I managed to get 3 cars on our driveway and then 4 cars soon after. I thnik they give in... or my wifey is really understanding and nice
Can you not just go ahead bid on a car and win it import it in (without her knowing)and then say look honey there's one for sale to waht i want blah blah blah... that would work?
-
i tihnk alot of money is wasted as it is... in shipping and so much admin (I thnk its the way they cream more money out of you) even more so with a new car considering the esva and model reports etc. I would probably get an older pimp jzx80 or 90 or an old skool soarer or a 4 door r32 skyline..
or wait until 2008 :)

Importing a car thats going to cost 6-7k plus with only a deposit would be really rare unless you knew them very well i would think... as no one would want to have a car that potentially they couldn't sell, as the fob price would need to be paid before puting the car on the ship.
I would like one but is the esva model report thing ok now with manual altezza's or am i looking at waiting until 08 before I look into one.
-
yes!
I miss my altezza, espceially now I have seen some seriously sweeto bits from japan.
Ian I'm surprised you didn't take the altezza for a quick blast considering how long you had it unregistered. I would have been so frustrated I would have taken it to a track day or something just to drive it or on a private road...

i got a hook up in that a friend has a contact in japan who deals in cars (owns and works in a garage in tokyo) and buys stuff from yahoo and also cars from auction.
I have some bits coming through him.
do you have email?
the ones on yahoo are genuine ganador ones :D
-
you mean this?

TRD steering wheel airbag! how jdm tyte is that!!! dont know if its a direct swap over tho?
-
Just wondering if anyone knows if these keep the power adjustments?
-
tbh i dont really like them, but if any cars are show cars and need the extra attention then i guess they are o, but i deffo can see the attraction
:)
-
I'm going to find out how much shipping and yahoo fees cost and this agents fee is on top.
-
Since having a look at whats available for the altezza I thought some of these things would be pretty damn interesting to most of you after some top quality parts!! Sorry to over load!!
TRD sport meter panel
oil pressure oil temp and water temp (replaces the dash mount box)
i think its about £100
trd cluster!
a little pricey at £360 starting bid!!!!!!!!
thats all for now as theres too much to go thorugh
-
TRD SUS Circuit Coilovers on auction :o
Front 12kg rear 10kg
4 step adjustment
10k km use for about a year
no rust or leaks
cant believe its £200 at the moment with 19 hours to go!!
dam i need an altezza back, as having access to this stuff opens up new possiblilties :o
-
starting bid is about £125 - then theres yahoo fees on top, agent fees and shipping, reckon it would be about £350 shipped to your door
3 position toggle switch - middle off, up blue down white LED
-
peoples thoughts?
-
looks the s*x dude
:(
me miss it long time

Hi ,
I,m trying to import a car ,has anyone dealt with these people Japan Partner LTD & also can anyone explain the how to sort it all out this end when the car arrives etc.
The cars over 10 years old so its a bit easier I think?
Or any good shippers .
John.
Hi John
Are you looking at importing something yourself? have you something in mind?
Thing is my friend has been importing cars over and he has a contact at japan who is able to bid on cars on auction in japan.
As its over 10 years old you dont need esva and only an mot. So is much easier....shipping is about £400-500 if its ro-ro
we can help you if you need any help?
Oliver

they are nice wheels
no.3 looks like newage scooby wheels
no.4 are nice.
Are they all uk wheels if not get some japanese sourced ones like some wedsports in bronze.... or some volk te37's

I feel slightly more comfortable knowing the manual models are a rare breed :)
Yup they are in the UK, I have had some serious thoughts about coverting to manual.
I assume that the box is the same as the IS so a quick trip to "the scrappies" could probably get all the bits I need :D
funny you should mention that as i was contemplating in getting a cheap auto rs200 (I tihnk i saw ones go for about £4k on ebay) as I was chatting with mat at the time and he says its very straight forward to convert considering he has (had?) ecu and stad man box and pedals.
Have a word with him :)
-
hmm..... i will need a ride back home unless convince someone to come with lol
you have room to store the car there for a bit?
-
so the 'cleansing' of the rust will take longer than the actual welding?
do you think the rear panel looks worth salvaging or a new bit of metal needed?
-
extent of the damage!
Rear lower panel behind/below bumper (no bumper on at the mo as thats rusted away!
just below number plate
Another view from below of the area beneath the number plate ounting recess
Along bootlid
along same edge under the rubberseal
in boot just on the corner before the spare wheel recess
Thoughts Mat?
I was hoping 27th and maybe 28th? Depending on a few things that you have planned or even if the missus has planned etc?
