  1. I fitted my winters to my standard alloys, a replacement set of 18s didn't seem cost effective and I didn't want to make the car look rubbish by fitting 16s or something. (apologies to those on 16s)
  2. It knows you want to sell it...cars are like that as soon as you advertise them. If the air-con also doesn't work, my dad had the same fault on his 06 300, they fixed it under warranty as it was apparently a known issue with something or other.
  3. If I was buying for an SUV, I would hesitate about buying some Vredestein Wintrac 4 xtreme - they're like the ones I fitted, only specifically designed for 4WD vehicles.
  4. My other car is actually a Toyota Urban Cruiser AWD which I used to get about in the snow last winter. In the middle of the ice and snow this time around, I actually chose to go out in the Lexus. Overall it's safer. The 4WD gets going OK, after a bit of diff-locking etc. but it's cornering and stopping abilities just can't compare to the Lexus on the winter tyres...even though it's 4WD. Some more interesting info from Evo mag, here -> http://www.evo.co.uk/news/evonews/248524/winter_tyres_tested.html?CMP=NLC-Newsletters&uid=21c509ebe0c2b48d0fa5eb1823fd5580
  5. Thought I'd register to share my experiences of my GS in the snow with premium winter tyres. I've written numerous articles on the subject on my website - feel free to have a read. Choosing a winter tyre - http://www.jaffacake.net/dx/winter-tyres First Drive - Vredestein Wintrac xtreme Winter Tyres http://www.jaffacake.net/dx/vredestein-winter-tyres Winter tyres - it's not cold yet http://www.jaffacake.net/dx/winter-tyres-2 RWD, Winter tyres & Snow - http://www.jaffacake.net/dx/rwd-in-the-snow In summary, winter tyres rock and I will drive on them for 6mths a year from now on.
