Hi chaps i am having a similar problem. My 2002 IS200 only has sidelights when ignition is turned on, headlights will not work. When you turn ignition off and remove the key the headlights come on and will not turn off unless you remove the headlight relay from the fuse box under bonnet. From reading posts on here i decided to check windscreen and cannot find made in japan so i can only presume the windscreen has been replaced at some point, i can see 'pilkington' (or at least i think that's what it says) printed on window.
My car has 'auto' setting on the stalk which does not work, also my interior lights do not work when doors open so maybe the door switches have something to do with the problem.
I am going to check footwell fusebox at weekend for evidence of moisture etc just incase, however any other suggestions would be appreciated as i would like to try as many different combinations of fixes as poss whilst i have the wknd off to get this sorted as it is completely doing my head in having to remove a relay every time i want to turn my lights off! :duh:
