thanks for response - Windscreen still original - No sunroof - how can I check if air-con related - the system def works.... but thinking more about the find - the close area next to the air ducts under the front passenger seat seem damp (wet) - and the possible the water progressing to the rear foot well...….so annoying .

Hi All - I have a 06 plate is 250 auto...….To my horror I discovered that the rear foot well carpet (passenger side) is water soaked. Only discovered today - no idea how long water has been getting in. any ideas or has anyone else suffered..

Washed and polished - ready for The Big Day - 10 years + and going strong - Love it - (Oh and my sons Special Day).

Oh well - own a Lexus then expect it to cost at some time - It's the first extra expense I've had in the four years I've had it so cant really complain. Tested in Sport Mode today and Wow!!!!!!!

Hi Muzy: Local Lexus agent quoted £622 to supply and fit the two Pre-Cat sensors. The OEM sensors alone are near as dam it £200 each. (2 fitted) Got my local guy to do it for 500 using genuine components.- so yes was expensive but not expensive and a definite need to have. Lexus informed me that they do encourage replacement after 75000 miles. Anyway job done with the cars response feeling great.

Hi All - Final update = all is good, Lexus identified and cured a minor electrical fault - a dodgy fuse - Car good as new - with MOT completed - good to go for another year and beyond.

Lexus dealership has my car booked in for remedial investigation work next Wednesday (4th March) - fingers crossed a simple quick fix !!!!!

Update - False economy I'm afraid. Had OEM sensors fitted by my local garage - but - no change - dare I say it he thinks now it could be an electrical fault - cant go on like this any longer so having to book the car into my nearest Lexus agent (40 miles away) and face the consequences. Should have done that in the first place - bigger fool me - lesson learnt.

Updates - Rightly or wrongly I have ordered the OEM parts, and hopefully will be fitted next week. Then all will be well !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks again for all your thoughts and suggestions - Brilliant Forum communications. Rob

Update: Whilst waiting for this Thursday to come when my local garage has the time to re-check and investigate further, I am only using the car to travel to work and back (6 miles each way). So approx. 70 miles all in. Did not use it Saturday. Washed it Sunday (have to keep it clean - it's a Me-Thing). This morning, Monday it would not start - just turned over & over, on the third attempt it bit but sounded as if only running on 2 pots, switched off and left it on the driveway - contacted the garage man who's going to check it out tomorrow. He is only willing to spend a couple of hours on it and then leave the decision to me. I am getting ready to contact my local Lexus garage and face what I've been dreading. ££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££ Oh well if I want to run my Dream Car then I have to accept the financial demands. Hopefully it will not be totally bad news - I've had 4 years trouble free, but after all it is only 8 1/2 years old. To answer Noo Bie - I did check with Lexus when the read-out reported the 2 faulty sensors and they said it would cost around £630 (including parts & VAT) to replace them.

Update: Having the fault codes re-checked - plus wiring checked - but have to wait until next Thursday - the suspense is killing. Will update when I know more. Thanks again for your all your advice and information. Rob.

Thank you all for your concerns and advice - I have to agree with Colin as to why both are registering a failure at the same time - seems a bit odd. Anyway so far all that's been done is the ECU read-out I now have to get 'the man' who looks after my car to have it in his workshop and investigate further. I did however phone my local Lexus agent who has quoted £600 to replace both. (not too happy about that - but hey that's Lexus price). Hopefully 'My-Man' can fix it for far less as it's something that I have no idea or the mechanical know-how to do it myself. Will report back when it's all sorted (hopefully soon) Rob

Hi Al: Thought I would check with you all on your thoughts to my recent shock. I have had my 2006- IS 250 SEL Auto - mileage of 75625 for 6 years and for the first time ever warning lights appeared - Check VSC, ABS, Red Warning Triangle and the Engine Management Warning (not flashing). Had the ECU code read by my local garage (not a Lexus agent) - came out as: Confirmed & stored codes: ECU E8....DTC P0031 HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1 Sensor 1) ECU E8....DTC P0051 HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 2 Sensor 1) . I am correct in assuming that the lies with Oxygen Sensors? If so is this a common or rare fault - how come two sensors seemed to have failed together? Finally in anyone's experience - Is it safe to use until corrected. And any idea what sort of expense I am in for If I have to use my local Lexus Agent (at £110 per hour) I must admit I do not use a Lexus agent to service the car (cost reasons) but a local well established garage who has serviced and maintained it for me. Hi all - I'm sure this has been asked b4 - But - after setting my door mirrors (great) then when I reveres they tilt (great) BUT after engine close down and when I return and restart the door mirrors are not in the correct position, I have to adjust them - WHY? Thanks in anticipation Rob

I replaced mine over the weekend, left battery coupled & lived to tell the tail. It's a bit fiddly but straight forward (followed YouTube examples). Had a shock when I started the engine to see warning lights come - Check VSC - and engine management warning. But turned off - went back in to have a coffee and check online - the reasons why - started the engine again and all was well. Have fun. Rob

OK the electrical indicators for fuel consumption may not give the true story - surely it is better to gauge your consumption by filling to brim - trip - use - fill to brim - note mileage covered. Take an average of 3 fill ups to get a more accurate figure. I get the feeling it may surprise. I have 2006 IS250 Auto - over the last 4 fills I have averaged 29mpg - that is mainly short runs of 10 miles and maybe 100 over the weekend. Urban and country roads. Rob

I lovingly have a 2006 IS250 SEL (54500 miles). My question. Should I expect a reduction in MPG during the winter months. No snow driving involved. air con not used.(to demist screen only) I check my MPG by filling up the tank and 'take account of the 'Trip' total. During the summer months I was getting 30 to 32 mpg, from the past three fill ups this has reduced to 23-25. My daily journey to work is approx 6 miles with approx 100 domestic weekend miles driven. My driving habit has not changed, I allow the automatic gear box to make it's own mind up and drive in a way that I think is conservative (the right foot has a gentle action). Any thoughts? - Thank you.

Hi again: To answer normski2 - Cant be sure as I tried the other suggestions all in sequesnce - but I do believe it was 'gentle persuasion' that won. Just to confirm that-yes- the switch was in the correct position. My IS250 is an 06 Plate so I expect it's getting to the age of minor irritation - but I cherish and love it, being my Pride & Joy - but who would'nt. Rob
