I've painted my brake hubs in light grey, and plan to do the calipers in gold ,as soon as the weather gets better :) , not sure about the colour of stickers , maybe black would look good on gold calipers :D .

Young Chris,
Can you put me down for a set of pre 2001 in Beige please,
many thanks,
Bob.

So - are you saying it's not the Car BUT the tyres!!
Its the car, full stop, but a set of Michelin Pilot Alpin's could be of same help :) .
-
As i'm sure alot of you guys have found out over the past couple of days, how poor ,a wide low profile tyre is in the snow and ice .
There has been some minor discussion on the IS section ,about how poor the grip has been in this weather, that got me thinking ,so i had a look on www.mytyres.co.uk and www.tyretest.com and the only tyre that works well in the snow is a Michelin Pilot Alpin, but at £138.00, its not a cheap option.

I'm running almost new Bridgestones Potenza RE 040 ;) .

I had my first experience of driving my IS in the snow, i found the traction pretty poor, as Damer said ,even a slight incline is enough to get the car stuck.
Even with the snow button and traction control on ,progress was slow.
I feel this is just part of the cars characteristics as with a light back end, rear wheel drive and wide tyres all there factors don't help.
Maybe i'll pop off to Homebase for a few bags of cement for the boot :D .

In North Kent ,had about 25mm on the car this morning, all the major roads have been gritted ,so no problem getting out and about :) .
-
We don't charge postage to UK members, and yes we except cheques.
OK, can i please order a set of mud flaps to fit my IS200,
Bob :) .
-
Chris i'm intrested in a set of mud flaps , i see the price includes vat, whats the postage and do you take cheques :D .

I tell you what - I reckon those sensors have already saved me knocking the back bumper 3 times already :)
I'm impressed with the 2 stage beeps you get.
It starts off with a higher pitched beep that decreases in time as you approach until there is a constant note - as you get even closer a lower pitched beep takes over until that too becomes constant. At the first constant note I reckon to be about a foot from the obstacle whilst the lower beep can get me to within a few inches - I'm impressed anyway.
Sounds like the same type of parking kit i have ,two stage beeping followed by continious noise . Is this a Lexus kit or aftermarket ne ( I only have two sensors).

Can I appear foolish here.........what's a bootliner?
A boot liner is a plastic/rubber tray that fits in the boot to keep it clean, very handy if you put muddy boots or diy stuff in there :D .
-
I have a few Lexus accessories fitted to my car ,and i was intrested to find out how much they would have cost when fitted new, list reads as.....
1) Boot liner,
2) Rear parking sensors,
3) Rear spoiler with brake light,
4) Gold badges inc wheel caps.
any idea guys :)

Happy New year to you all ... from Kent :D .

Love it, made me laugh :D .

So going by one of the sites posted above the IS200 could be back racing in 2004, if so that great news :)
Quote.......
"We believe the latest 2004 incarnation of the Lexus IS200 Touring Car has been penned and resolves all the problems found with the original. The car is lighter, more powerful, with a sorted chassis and better aerodynamics. Let's hope we get to see it in the 2004 BTCC season in the condition it was always intended to be in. Fit and ready to go!"
If they do start racing again, i hope they get to my local circuit ( Brands Hatch) and i'll go and support them :D .

late Will Hoy??? sorry, are you saying he passed away? :o
I can remember when he drove for *cough* BMW..
Sorry to say he's no longer with us.....

Cheers guys some useful information, just need a good A4 size photo to print off ( can i say that ).
The Lexus was the only car from the Toyota stable worth watching a few years back, well not since the Carina E days, when the late Will Hoy was top Toyota driver.

Guys, i'm trying to find some photo's of the IS200 that raced in (i think) 1999/2000 British touring car championships, i seem to remember there was only one car in the team, it was black and unfortunately never done that well.
Can anyone suggest a web sit where i might find some information,
cheers Bob.

Welcome to the club VOZ :D , I to have a Blue X reg SE auto, had it a few months now and very pleased to.
In answer to one of your questions, the condensation is a common problem, my car lives outside, and in this colder weather the heat never get down between the rear screen and the speaker grills, only solution would be to leave the air/con on all the time ;) ,
Enjoy your new motor.

So far we have wood dash trim = Pipe ,slippers, car coat , tartan rug , that just leaves string back driving gloves and a flat cap then :winky: .
-
Sorry if this has been covered before , but has anyone fitted one of the wooden dash kits like this eBay type ?.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...&category=40199
I once fitted one to a Rav4 and it looked good ,but i suspect it may spoil the sports image of the IS200, the big plus is its real wood and not that plastic stuff, what do you guys ( is it a bit pipe and slippers) :D .

Thanks for the advice 555...that name rings a bell :winky: .

Hi all,
A question for you guys that get your cars serviced by Lexus main dealers, can you please take a look at you invoices and let me know what grade of oil they use, it could be 10/30 or 15/30 or even 15/40.
I only ask as now my car's out of warrenty, i'll be doing all of the service work , cheers :D .
