  1. Hi Rich (and Sean) - sorry I forgot your names… you’re right the ISF is really unique in the Japanese car patheon and definitely isn’t mainstream.

I love the weird and wonderful modded cars you get at these events.   Not my thing necessarily (although in small amounts I do mod my cars),  but it’s great to share time with people who share the same interest and passion (instead of the EV owners and non-car people I usually spend time with at work etc 👍🏻

  2. It was a real pleasure to meet Scott and Shawn (guys hope I got your names right) at Japfest today, what a couple of nice guys with great cars also.  I think they may have thought me an 'F badge' non-V8 owner (or 'ISF groupie') with aspirations for owning an ISF, but here I am guys just to prove otherwise, LOL!  🙂

BTW, we got talking and I mentioned one of the early UK ISF owners who did a lot of mods to his car, including putting gauges where the air vents are in the middle of the dash new seats and range of other stuff, he also worked with Hayward & Scott in their X-pipe exhaust for the ISF (unless that was someone else).  I think he lived in Kent, but I've forgotten his name... but he was trying to sell his ISF for a while but I think kept it as he wasn't getting the offers he wanted for it.  Is he still around, and what became of his ISF out of interest?

    Cheers

  3. I made one of my infrequent trips onto Autitrader this week and was surprised to see a couple of late (with the new gauge cluster) ISFs for sale in the 15-17k GBP price range, and with reasonable mileages.  Admittedly the lowest price one was a Cat S, but even so it seems prices are on bit of a slide for the ISF since I looked about a year ago.  Is that a correct assessment, or just with this week's choice on Aurotrader?

  4. I don't think I'm adding any new input here, but my tuppence worth is to suggest that you consider the 'Marginal Utility' of keeping the car, and enjoying it, versus the cash in the bank if you sell it.  If the wolf is at the door, then the cash is more important, but if you can afford to hold onto the car and enjoy it, rather than sell at a poor market price, that may be a better option at the moment....

Just because the ISF has 4 doors doesn't necessarily mean it will be more roomy. I think I've heard the floor pan in RC and IS is the exact same length (though not 100% sure about this) - but my point is many people have complained about lack of interior space in the ISF so you might want to get someone sat behind you and figure out if it's going to work for you.

Only overweight reviewers on TV/YouTube complain about the rear seating, actual owners usually don't even notice there is any issue.  Right guys?

  6. No criticism, but being bit of an ISF geek, and knowing how reliable/well made they are, I aways find vague comments like "One to give a miss" etc disappointing.  Would be great for the education of the rest of us if people can give specific details when saying a car for sale is one to avoid (e.g. 'looks like a crash repair looking at the paint and shutlines" or "the engine was noisy from the top end with a loud rattle" etc).

    Thanks 🙂

  7. Good luck and all that, I have to say I am coming from the opposite direction and looking to hold on to my analogue ISF for as long as possible, before I have to hand in my ba**s and migrate to an EV.  I really, really, don't get the attraction myself, but then I don't have to commute as such, if I did, and needed a main car, I can see the case, but it would have nothing to do with driving experience, love or passion.

    no offence meant...

The vented bonnet has been discontinued whilst they change their moulding.

I have the standard CF bonnet from them, from a company in Luton. As stated they give you a total quote plush shipping and that's all you pay, no hidden taxes, etc. I thought I had their details saved, but it seems I can't find them. I'll post it when I find it.

Out of interest how long have you had yours fitted? Also, issues with sun fade with the laquer and did you get it coated with anything before fitting?  What is the general fit and alignment like?

Sorry a few questions there :)

  9. Siebon is probably your best bet, they have a UK subsidiary/importer, all seamless once you order.  You have the option of an original bonnet shape in carbon fibre, or the one with the oversized vents that looks like it is out of the transformers movie.

You're probably looking at GBP1, 500.00 with VAT and delivery.
