  1. I just bought a 2013 ex demo advance, obviously the dealer had tried to sell me a protection package inc keys, smart, tyres & alloys and G3 glass coat. I am interested in GAP cover, is it worth getting it from Lexus or looking elsewhere?

    Do I need anything else?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

Just to let you know that we offer a GAP style product called Total Loss Protection. Whilst it's not exactly the same as GAP cover we feel that it's a very cost effective option for what it provides. If you'd like any further details feel free to PM me your contact details and I can arrange for one of our quotes team to give you a call back.

    Regards,

    Dan.

  3. Hi Dan I'm mark and I brought my lexus is200 sport today, just wondering if you could help me out with a quote as I'm 29 and had a quote of £1000 with 0 NCB. If you can help me out that would be great, cheers

  4. Ahb is automatic high beam. You push a button near to the button where the parking sensor button is, and when you flick the high beam stalk forward a light comes on the dashboard with a light and auto. A camera on the back of mirror monitors light from oncoming vehicles or rear lights of cars in front and dips the high beam automatically so good for country roads etc and returns high beam when they are no oncoming lights detected again.

Lda is lane departure alert. The same camera monitors the whites lines on the road, which turn on using a button the steering wheel When you go above 32 mph the hollow lines go white when it identifies a line on either or both sides on the road If you start to cross it without indicating the line on the dashboard flashes yellow and an alarm sounds.

ACC is adaptive cruise control you set the speed of vehicle using normal cruise control and also you set the distance you always want to remain from the car in front, short medium or long. On the dashboard a car appears on the screen when it is detected and will slow the car to match the speed of the vehicle in front. When they move out the way and it is clear the car returns to the speed set.

PCS is a pre braking system which uses the same radar for the ACC to alert you if you may hit the car in front and sounds an alarm. It provides additional braking assistance and helps the car to stop more effectively. Apparently in the future cars fitted with this technology may get cheaper car insurance, but will have to wait and see. I think it can apply the brakes for you, like it does on the acc but obviously haven't had to try it!!

Hope that helps but let me know if you want to know anything else. So you get four things for the money. On the previous model it was over 2000 pound and you only got acc and pcs so it is better value now.

    Hi,

Just to let you know we have recently launched a new car insurance scheme for vehicles with crash mitigation systems fitted.

    Regards,

    Dan.

  5. Hi everyone,

I've had a few close calls this year, haven't we all?

A boat became detached from its towing car about 75yds ahead of me, also badly secured items falling from cars and builders wagons. A car 3 in front of me, ran over a bicycle which had fallen from a car, all on the motorway, plus the usual cut ups with inches to spare.

I have a Russian friend who told me that in Russia many cars are fitted with cameras, to record the journey for insurance purposes: remember the meteor in Russia last year? some little Martian is no doubt caughing up right now, caught on camera.

I have looked at many car cams, there is so much choice, in both type and price. I am at a loss, what are your thoughts on car cams?

    1) what are your experiences with car cams?

    2) Are they worth investing in, or a waste of time?

    3) Will having one/two fitted affect my insurance?

    4) Are they easy to install, with non or few wires hanging about?

    5) Best place on screens to fit them.

    6) Is there a model that you would/wouldn't recommend?

I would be grateful to hear your views on the subject, thanks.

    Michael.

    Hi,

Just to let you know that an number of our insurance schemes give discounts for certain in-car cameras.

    Regards,

    Dan.

  6. Spotted a 300 for sale locally (52 plate, 83k, with TTE front and rear and 18's) and I'm sorely tempted to switch from my 200 to it, mainly cos as much as I like the 6sp manual in my 200 Sport, I do really fancy an auto (and don't want the 4sp auto in the 200SE)

Price wise, it's pretty much the same as I paid for my 200 (£2.5k) for the same year/reg and roughly the same mileage (mine now has 90k on it, bought it at 87ish, roughly 11 months ago)

The only things that put me off are little things - it's got a stupid aftermarket touchscreen head unit (I'd much prefer the standard one, using my Grom), and it looks like it's got screens in the head rests (not a major issue, but I'd prefer to swap them with regular head rests). With the IS having an odd sound system, it means I don't know to what extent it's been modified/adapted. In a perfect world, it simply has the bypass cable or whatever to hook into the standard amp - worst case the wiring has been cut and messed around with. Naturally, I'd prefer it if it's just had plug and play harness' so I can swap it out with the stock HU in my 200 and vice versa.

Tax is a little annoying, as I just taxed mine for a year last year (£250!) and the 300 tax expires end of July. MOT wise, mine expires next month, 300 in Sept, so nothing in it really.

I suppose it really comes down to the cars condition - if it's not as good as mine, in terms of being looked after, handling/how it feels, then it's not worth it. Yes the few extra ponies from the 300 would be a bonus, but not my priority for changing the car. Really it's down to the gearbox - I should have bought an auto from the start (this week especially I've been laid up with trapped tendons in my left ankle, which means I can barely walk and can't drive as clutch changing hurts like hell!)

No idea of the insurance difference, nor the MPG difference (surely it can't be WORSE than the 200's already pathetic MPG?!)

Will have to ponder it a little bit I suppose....

    Hi,

If you need any help with insurance then please feel free to drop me a line.

    Regards,

    Dan.

  7. Hi to all members... I have just become the owner of a CT 200h 2011 Premier, I live in Kent and look forward to reading posts relating to the CT 200, I am already looking into getting a space saving tyre, also the possibility of fitting a "car camera" purely for the safety aspect of insurance claims, not that I have had probs yet!

Previous cars were mainly Citroen( last being a C5), but reliability became a factor, so converted to Lexus, seems a very good move at present.

    regards

    Derek

    Hi and welcome.

Just to let you know that a number of our insurance schemes offer a discount for a wide range of in car cameras.

    Regards,

    Dan.

  8. My insurance is due for renewal and I have started looking around at various providers.

I have been offered £368 (fully comprehensive + protected no claim + courtesy car) from my current (online) provider, which I do not think is a bad deal, following an own fault accident 4 months ago.

Do any of you recommend Lexus' own insurance?

    Hi,

Feel free to give us a try if you like. If you wanted to PM me your details I'd be happy to arrange for one of my quotes team to give you a call back.

Remember that club members can receive a discount of up to 15%.

    Regards,

    Dan.

  9. Who does everyone use to insure their ISF?

Is the policy on this site or the official Lexus policy any good?

    Thanks

  10. Its that time of year again where I need to re-insure the IS250.

Are there any recommended insurers as at present my quote is around £450 a year which seems very expensive given I am 40 with no convictions or points and no accidents.

    Carl

  11. Hello...

I've only been a passenger in a Lexus up till now and I don't need to tell you how good that is.

However, I've been offered the chance to buy a 2003 Lexus LS430, 3 owners, only 58k miles, full Lexus history for £5, 500, in very good condition.

Can you tell me if that's a 'fair' prlce for such a vehicle?

Would appreciate any comments or suggestions on the vehicle...eg Insurance Group/MPG figures or anything else you think might help me decide if this is to be my next car.

    Many thanks

    Hi,

If you need any help with insurance please feel free to give us a try if you like.

  13. Hi,

Removing the rear seats wouldn’t necessarily increase the insurance group however you would need to notify your insurer if you were going to do this change and it would be up to each individual insurer how they rated it.

    Regards,

    Dan.

  14. Just had my insurance renewal through, Was nearly £800 for fully comp protected. I am 38 and have 7 years no claims. No claims for last 5 years.

Time to look elsewhere, how much are you guys paying ? Adrian Flux have been cheap in the past but I dont think I would go with them as they

have such a bad reputation now.

    Hi,

With regards to your comments regarding our reputation I can appreciate if you have concerns regards this however if you felt that you would like a quotation you would be more than welcome to PM me your details and I could arrange for someone to call you back and discuss any concerns that you may have.

As with all insurers and forums there's always positive and negative feedback which goes with the territory. If however you would rather try elsewhere then no problem.

    Regards,

    Dan.

  15. I was with Admiral for a couple of years but switched to the Owners Club Insurance operated by Adrian Flux (not one for the whole online comparison stuff - waste of time as far as I am concerned, never got the price that was quoted anyways after talking to the various companies). I was impressed with the service and I saved more than £150. I then also decided to try it for household insurance and, bingo!, made not only great savings but also got better policy cover! Have recommended to all my "driving" friends to join the club and try it out, can't hurt to test it.

Thankyou for choosing us we are glad to have been able to assist !

    All the best

    Dan

  16. Hi Lexus Owners Club members,

It’s been a couple of months since we launched the Owners Club Insurance scheme and our stats show that we are converting a good number of those enquiries to new policyholders.

Just to advise, Lexus Club members qualify for a discount off their premium of up to 15%

Our staff are all highly trained underwriters and will calculate your premium individually, using their expert knowledge of the many insurance schemes on offer. Due to the type of vehicles insured, all our policies are designed especially for the out of the ordinary and our staff have a high degree of knowledge in this field. This is not an on-line quotation system using computer rates. Instead each risk will be individually calculated by our expert staff. Please note that our sales staff are experienced underwriters not just 'computer monkeys' and along with our tailor schemes we believe we offer the best quotation service around.

In addition those members can also take advantage of the following by insuring through OwnersClubInsurance.co.uk:-

    • Modified Vehicles
    • Agreed Values
    • Limited Mileage Discounts
    • Advanced Driver Discounts

    • Up to £100,000 legal cover FREE
    • European Green Card Cover
    • Non-standard risks accepted
    • Protected No Claim Bonus available
    • Dedicated Owners Club Insurance number:- 0800 587 6313

If your renewal is due in the next couple of months we’d certainly welcome your enquiry. For those wishing to contact us if you click-through on the following link:-

  19. Hi everyone.

This is just a short introduction, I’m Dan and I’ve worked for Adrian Flux Insurance for nearly 23 years.

If any of you on here have any general insurance queries or specific problems with Adrian Flux insurance please let me know. I have handpicked a small but dedicated team of staff who with me will try and assist you wherever possible. I can assure you we will be completely impartial despite being on the payroll of Adrian Flux. If we have messed-up we will acknowledge that and make efforts to get it corrected. If any of you do not understand an insurer’s viewpoint we will do our best to clearly explain it.

It could be problems ranging from simple paperwork issues to major claim disputes. With our many years of experience we should be able to answer most queries immediately. If there were issues or a problem that we can’t answer directly we would ensure that a relevant manager investigates these and we would then be able to relay an answer back.

I hope this will be of some help for you.

On behalf of myself and my team, thanks very much.

    Dan.
