agreed, i found that putting the piston in first and fully depressing it was the easiest way. The using some brake fluid on the rubber, slide in in the groove (don't bother trying to get the middle to fit around the psiton as yet). Then i used a fine set of tweezers i use for removing/adding tappet collets to work it in around the rubber. It's a tricky job so have plenty of patience and room to throw things. Once the ring is secured in (start from one open end and work your way around - i dind't bother trying to insert it complete in the closed position), use a fine instrument to check the coil ring sits nicely in place inside the rubber and groove. Once complete, then you can fiddle about placing the inner rubber around the piston and check once the caliper is connected again by inserted something inbetween the caliper jaws to allow the piston to petrude a little without either popping it out or being too difficult to squeeze back for re-fitment. the manual, swear a lot at the cat way, if anyone knows an easier method, i'll get my time machine : )

Yup- had the same issue, was ok for small journeys, get on hte motorway and judder galore at around 60 mph. Replaced slider pins and unsiexzed a piston on either caliper due to dust rubbers persishing and leaking in water. WHole lot cost me around £100 and a weekend, working loverly now, no judder, car rolls back on hils and feels so mch smoother ( not to mention better performance andf fuel consumption). For the record, the offisde was sized but putting no pressure on, the nearside was sized as it pressure was being applied, had a job to whince the caliper off. Gtetting the pistions out is another a story, but i can assist on advice if you need.

well turns out wasn't the slider pins, but siezed calipers, thanks for the advice on spares from Big Redd, new pins and caliper overhaul=£100, much better now :)

i just called them up, they said to bring the car up (which is 20 mins away for me), and then can have a look and find a key to fit : ) result, thanks Andy

Thanks Andy, i wouldn't know tbh, although they are original wheels, these do appear aftermarket Lockers. Unfortuantely i can't locate the key number : (

thanks for that, i've seen video's on using a 20mm socket belted on with a hammer. I once had to do this on an escort RS turbo, drilling a hole in the centre and then using a headbolt removal tool from an RS2000. Problem is, these wheelsare nice so don;t really wantto go drilling around if i can help it

Is there a place that sels these pins? I'm going to need a full set replacement on the front, Big Redd are supplying me the piston kits, but advise they cannot get the pins. Lexus have quoted me £65 for a full set for the front? Not overly expensive, but wondered if anywhere else did them? or should i simply go for genuine parts as it's brakes? thanks in advance

Morning all I've got that horrid job of trying to remove locking wheels nut without the tool, because the bell piece that sold me the car failed to tell me this item was missing ! I've seen vidoe's on the best way to remove them, so this shouldn't be an issue, but if anyone can advise on which set to get for an IS200 Sport ( i've been looking around), i'd be gratefull :) rgds Hilts

One other question gents. if i remove one of the cats, what happens to the sensor? and will i recieve an engine warning light?

Thanks guys I have the car booked into a place in St Albans that make powerflow custom exhauts ( my dad had one made for his RS500 Cossie), they've quoptes me £250 all in, and said it was start from the cat itself, however, they also mentioned there are 2 cats on the IS200, not sure were abouts, but was thinking of removing one of them ( does this affect the MOT at all?)

Hello I've got some free pennies to spend buying a cat back system for my Lexus IS200 Sport. I've tried calling Cobra and Camskill for te blueflame, but apparently theie exhaust do not tailor for the sport model ( rear bumper trim and suspension differences i am being told). I found a Scorpion system on ebay,. but they also advised does not tailor to the sport model ! I'm giving Japspeed a call today (although that bung in the rear tailpipe looks ugly!) HKS is an option, but they only list the IS250 model. I've checked preivous posts for exhauts but am not having a lot of luck. Does anyone know of which model/make of exhaust i cna purchase which produces a nice deep sound and yet fits a sport model IS200? Any links would be appreicated rgds Hilts

All i have is slide and tilt buttons and a s with to turn it on, i see there are door pins for the rear, the fronts turn on the fancy door lights : )

Hello All Apologies if this appears a minor issue, but i'm curious as to whether the interior light should come on once the doors open? This is the first car i've had with fancy red lights on the doors (woohoo), but no interior light. I have the IS200 Sport model. If i'm honest, i haven't checked for any door pins at all thanks in advance

Hello everyone It's been a long time since i''ve been a member of an owners club, back in the days of RS Fords. However, i was so pleased with my new purchase, i simply had to join LOC ! I've just purchased an 03 plate IS200 Sport model with the sport pack, and i will say that if it's true that first impresisons last, then i think i will be buying Lexus for a long time to come :) It was a car my wife always wanted (what's that? wife i hear you say???), yes i did ! :D, i've seen them for many years now and always was partial to the IS200, although never dared to venture away from beloved Fords. Anyway, having owned a couple of old Vauxhalls, i decided it was time to re-treat myself to somehting new and took a plunge into the unknown of looking at Lexus. I checked out 3 or 4 and found this nice little model up Lancashire way. Immediately i was besotted with it's looks and the sport pack. Well i guess the rest is history and i bought the car. Having to drive it 200 miles home was a concern, but after about 10 miles, insticnt told me i hade made a very good choice indeed. This car has so far surpassed all my ecxpectations ( and is probbaly the most luxurious of the grander models of car i've owned), and so fcar i'm ansolutely pleased with the results. The car itself looks very stylish (i guess you'll all want pics lol- well why not? :D ), and so far my only intention is to perhaps buy a performance system for it. I think i've gone on enough now, i just wanted to introduce myself, say Hello to all, thank you for the oportunity of joining LOC, and express my contentment at buying what i beleive is to be a very very nice car indeed.
