Hi guys,
First of all I am a new user of this forum so please ignore my mistakes. My friend has bought a lexus Is200 and its 1999 model. Some cheap CD player was installed in it instead of the normal unit. My friend got hold to the Sound system unit from the car which was 2004 model. fitting is same and I thought It would be a straight case to install the unit in the car but the wiring is different. The socket which comes with the original car wiring loom are 2(one 6 pin and other one is 4 pin). where else in the unit which he bought from 2004 model has 2 different sockets to the first ones ( one is 16 pins & the other one is 12 pins). I still gave it a go by cutting the wiring loom and did simple colour matching job. Now after matching all the wires ''3'' wires are still left and there are no wires to go with them. As I have managed to turn the system on and it works apart from volume and the tuning button. Plus the volume is very very low you can hardly hear when the car is moving.
Maybe I have done wrong. Or maybe there is something else ( new ) feature in new cars. only experts can tell me at this point now.
Thanks in advance
