  1. Hi,

When you open the key - you'll find the remote with the transponder chip inside:

Unfortunately it's not screwed, but glued, so be very careful with the sharp knife...

Then you have to put the transponder in the new key (there is designated place - marked in red - close to the base of the blade) - otherwise it's too far away from the sensor and will not start.

  2. Here are my two cents - local law is the same - lights on all the time.

Covering the sensor is rather bad solution - although it works fine with the lights (when set on auto) it also gives incorrect information to the A/C and the navigation screen/dashboard illumination.

I've tried every solution possible - so the module fits my needs the best - I'm still enjoying the automatic lights (no matter entering a tunnel or dusk) and the automatic change of illumination on the dash. I can still use both Low & high beams as needed, the only downside is that the reduced voltage of the halogen bulbs makes them yellowish (even if replaced by coolblue/HID look ones).

  3. Does the "on the go" update allow you to change other settings on the move or just the destination? It's very annoying how nannying the thing is, cutting out half the options. Can't even set the mirror/seat memory position! It's a split second press with one hand.

If you mean phone, audio, etc. browsing while driving - nope! To be able to do this there are certain devices you can buy or a hardware hack (involving disconnecting few wires).

  4. You should enter the hidden menu (info button +3 times lights switch simultaneously) and there you can calibrate the system (Incl. far left and right rotation of the steering wheel). Press MENU in the upper right corner and you'll see this:

Press "Camera check" and you'll enter this:

Then you just follow the onscreen instructions, but on your own risk - you can do some damage...

DO NOT PRESS AND CHANGE THE SETTINGS IN THE OTHER MENUS!

  5. Agree with everyone, if not factory fitted these things tend to look like an afterthought.

The reduced light output of the highbeams is actually the factory fitted version of the DRL for the States (where DRL driving is obligatory).

I'm not offended in any way, i'm hesitating so looking for feedback. However I would not put a reminder, I would rather make the lowbeams start automatically.

  6. Do not know for sure, but it seems the same way as the inside mirror:

    Automatic dimming

In the 1950s, American inventor Jacob Rabinow developed a light-sensitive automatic mechanism for the wedge-type day/night mirror.[5]Several Chrysler Corporation cars offered these automatic mirrors as optional equipment as early as 1959, but few customers ordered them for their cars and the item was soon withdrawn from the option lists. Several automakers began offering rear-view mirrors with automatic dimming again in 1983, and it was in the late 1980s that they began to catch on in popularity.

Current systems usually use photosensors mounted in the actual rear-view mirror to detect light and dim the mirror by means of electrochromism. This electrochromic feature has been also incorporated into side-view mirrors allowing them to dim and reduce glare as well.

  7. You can buy it from Michael Rychter (Ashpoint) from down under.

    Check out this tread: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/77416-auto-folding-mirrors/

I wanted to do it, but the fact that for RX you have to buy two units to install in the doors made me reconsider.

Here is a quote from his e-mail:

"I can supply the Po-40 and price is (normally) $A91 postpaid into any European city. But we don’t have any installation kit for the RX400h. We DO have for the RX300 and for that car you need two kits (one for each front door).

Be aware that your car must already have manual electric folding mirrors. The Po-40 does not add any electric motors to the mirrors."
