  1. This really was an excellent meet. It made a refreshing change to see the cars in action. I don't think that anyone did too much damage to their cars, and the vast majority of people behaved really well.

Many thanks to Barry and Zee for chauffeuring me aroung the track! :)

  2. Nick, if your policy states you can drive another vehicle, with the consent of the owner; the vehicle IT'S SELF must have a valid insurance policy.

IE the owner of that vehicle, must have insurance for it.

    UNLESS

You have a Motor Traders policy, and you can drive any vehicle, regardless of it having insurance or not.

Funny you ask this, a mate of mine rang me the other day to ask this ........ It's all do to with money mate, stops people getting insured on a Metro / Mini type car .... then buying a high insurance group car .... and driving it around.

Hope that clears it up for you.

    Regards,

That is what I thought, but there is nothing in my policy to say that this is the case. Is there a law to say that every car must have its own insurance, hence no mention on the policy?

  3. On my car insurance, I can drive other cars with the owners consent (third party only). My question is, does this car have to have its own insurance policy on it?

I was always under the impression that if I went out and bought another car, I couldn't drive it under the 'driving other vehicles' clause, but having looked at my policy, I can't find anything that says that the car would need its own insurance.

Can someone clarify what the situation is here?

  4. Yes, another good turn out!

Great to meet the new members, Mr Morse and Baby Shake, sirmarkwilson and family and ChrisH. A very good turn out.

Thanks to Aido for organising this, and also for his amusing anecdotes... :o

I think we got a few pictures before we were 'moved on'! too, so hopefully someone will get these uploaded.

BTW Zee, your car is LOUD! :D

  5. A transport pressure group yesterday demanded the end of the popular BBC2 programme ‘Top Gear’, claiming it promotes irresponsible driver behaviour. It wants a replacement show called Third Gear, which would promote “sensible driving in sensible vehicles.”

I have to say, that this doesn't sound like a recipe for great TV. What do you think? Could this be the end for Clarkson? Discuss! :P

  6. You will find that "everyday" stops are from behind ............ the kind of stops that are done from the front are called "hard stops" usually Armed police do them, where by the car in front pulls in front of the bandit car, on an angle .... and boxes it in with another 2 cars.

Then out come the guns ............  I have to admit, I have done a few front stops, because I had to ...... (circumstances dictate) however, if the bandit car was to make off ... and ram my car ... I'd be in the p0o

The guys that stopped me were armed only with clipboards... I suppose I got stopped from the front because I probably wouldn't have seen them from behind. The events that followed LED me to the conclusion that traffic police are sound guys on the whole.

  7. You would say that.......

I would wouldn't I? But you know I'm right! :winky:

Cupra R's are great cars, but I think that they would struggle to put that amount of power down through the front wheels. Mine can get a bit lively in the wet with 4wd. Great engine to mod though... 70bhp extra for £500 quid can't be bad!
