  1. No I didn't unfortunately, but the marks I lost on that bit, I made up on the "How to fall asleep and crash into the back of something on the hard shoulder" bit.  I aced on that question!

    Nick,

Sorry but I don't really find that funny ...... my friend died last year, broke down on M25. Lorry went straight into the back of him.

Left a wife and 1 year old daughter. :crybaby:

I apologise for that comment, it was an off the cuff response to what Mat posted. With hindsight, it is not something that should be laughed about and I apologise for any offence caused, none was intended. I wouldn't have laughed about it when I saw it on TV, so I shouldn't have done it now. I'm sorry.

  2. well done mate.

Did you pass the bit about killing young female hitchhikers?

  3. I had my Audi done a few months ago by a garage which had fitted my tyres. I didn't ask them to check it, but they did it anyway.

On the way back home, the steering wheel wasn't straight and it felt like the car was just about to throw itself into a hedge on every corner, which if you've ever driven an S3 is not a normal handling characteristic! Ended up getting Audi to sort it out.

Come to think of it, the same company did my GS when I had that, and the steering wheel wasn't straight then either.

What causes this to happen? Is it when all the adjustment is carried out on one side? Lexus fixed this in the end.

Should have learnt my lesson first time i spose...

  4. i used to have horse riding lessons

When I was younger I wanted to be a jockey. I was too tall though... And I weighed to much....

Used to ride around Southwell Racecourse occasionally though. Not all the way though, my pony couldn't make right round!

  5. Going off topic

I assumed that the change in the T&Cs was to stop people having long threads such as "The Monster" and "The Drift Car" hijacked and repeatedly being taken off in a different direction than the author intended. Recently though people seem to be getting jumped on when a thread deviates at all from its original subject even when the person who posted it isn't bothered.

This one for example. It wasn't exactly "off topic" now was it? Merely a developing discussion IMO... :D

  6. So - in your one post, you don't agree with people being told to search, as its not very useful....

I don't recall saying that Matthew. I do agree with people being told to search actually, just don't agree with the manner in which new members in particular are being told.

  7. On the whole, I don't think that the forum is over-moderated, and generally speaking the moderators do a great job. Having said that, there are a couple of things which I personally think have gone a bit over the top of late.

    Search before you post

This old chestnut has been covered elsewhere so I won't bring it up again.

Please don't take this as a criticism (although that's exactly what it is I suppose  ) of the moderators, just my personal point of view.

Keep up the good work :)

  8. Anyone tried to pull up the handbrake in an IS whilst it is moving? Mine makes a "bing" kinda noise.

You don't need to be going very fast (just coasting along), or pull the handbrake up all the way... Just until the light on the instrument panel comes on I think...

I do it all the time in Ifraz's car when he is driving along. It reminds me of the noise that you get on a plane when someone presses the button to get the attention of the cabin crew!

Reminds me of going on holiday!

  9. I wouldn't worry too much about it Tony.

now "txt speak" gets right up my nose.

when you have a 12 digit keypad, it may make sense to  to shorten and abbreviate everything - but everyone on an internet forum has a full keyboard.

    i h8 2 c a post full of dat sht - no what I mean m8?

Couldn't agree more Matthew. It really winds me up.

  10. I'm planning on doing it at some point after my rigid test (you have to take them in order now...)

I'm not intending on doing it for a living, but it is another string to my bow, and a mate of mine who I sometimes help out, now runs 18 tonners (since I got pulled for overloading one of his 7.5 tonners) so I will still be able to drive for him occasionally.

I had a go in an artic today at work. Great fun, but I got grease all over my trousers connecting the air lines!
