  5. Yeh Malc, there isn't a lot of them in Aust, cars are EXPENSIVE in Aust both new and second hand, crazy really. I figure it will cost be about 2000 ponds all up to get the car back and in the road, my purchase price was only 3200.
  6. Hey guys. Well I am in the process of looking at sending my LS430 back to Australia in 4 months and need to get someone reliable and trust worthy to give me a recommendation on the underneath of the car regarding rust. I like what Nigel on here did with his car in NZ, by getting it walnut blasted and am thinking of doing the same, however I need to know first if it is worth taking back if it has too much rust and work underneath to do. Looking underneath it doesn't look pretty, and there are a couple of rust explosions on the stills. Anyone recommend someone near Kidderminster/Wolverhampton Area? Will travel to the right person though. Any ideas, how has your rust experience so far? Mines a 2001 car. Cheers
  7. Rear boxes aren't stainless, I had to replace both of mine in Nov last year. I went to a place called Demon Tweaks in Wrexham and they built the pipes from the rear cat back, 2 power flow boxes I think it was. They did a great job and was about £400 including labour. Lexus were about £800 to do the same. The back box size they used was: 265x410 Centre-off Hybrid 430 Grade Exhaust in Stainless. 3 hours labour.

  16. Hey Mike, No they didn't say there was any damage to the lines, maybe it was the parts to go with the tank? the tank it's self was £370 pounds plus some other parts totalling £200 more, and the labour was about £500, so in total £1100. I am trying to find info on a some people wrecking LS430s and see if I can pick up a good second hand one? Don't know what to do to be honest. Know any good lexus parts people in the UK either new or second hand? Cheers
  17. Hi guys, Well for a couple of months I have been smelling fuel from the rear of my 01 LS430. After reading the forums in detail, I first changed the seal around the fuel cap, didn't make any difference. Then I filled up the car yesterday with gas, and drove home. When I got home I could smell a really strong smell of fuel, looked down and yep, I could see petrol leaking, well slow dripping to the ground. So I head to the Lexus dealer, they say it has a small hole in the tank and made worse when the car is full of gas, and including replacing some lines and the whole tank will come to £1100. Now I am not sure what to do, I have to get it fixed one way or another, do I try and source a second hand tank, do I try and buy a genuine one through a parts wholesaler, or do I get the tank fixed? Looking at the tank in general, it does look rusty around the seems etc, so a replacement may be in order. Any advice you guys may have would be appreciated, should I buy the parts outside the dealership and get lexus to install them or does someone have a better idea for me? Thank guys in advance for your help. Cheers AP
  18. Hi mate, I'm a kiwi from Masterton living in the UK, I also have a gold ls430, which I am thinking on taking back in a couple of years, can I ask what sort of money it cost for shipping, and are you expecting any WOF work needing to be done to make the LTSA happy? Kia Ora Andre Ps:if its worthwhile should start s importing business! Lol
  19. So, I charged it up and did 300 miles. Out of the gate it was easy to set up, paid my 1 year subs etc. took the car out, and you guessed it, took it up the road where I know of a fixed yellow box and wow NO Alert, even though I was look right at it? Over the 300 miles, it hightlighted blackspots, speed limits and camera vans that wernt there, I guess it is where people have saved the locations. I ordered the window mount, as the dash mount looks out of place in the centre of a ls430 dash and is a little distracting there, I am hoping the window mount fits right in the lower corner of the drivers side windscreen, which IMO is the best place. Am doing 70 miles a day next week and will let you know. Cheers
  20. Hi guys, I have just purchased a new Road Angel Gem. Being new to the UK I hope it helps me at the most remind me if what the limit is on each road, while picking up the cameras. Regardless of the speed signs, I have found it always isn't clear what the limit is. Will test it this week and let you know what it's like, tesco are the cheapest at the moment selling for £99.97, halfords and the like are £129. Good value I think. Cheers
