Every single ecu that we have seen that has been mapped in Japan has been completely useless in the UK.
Most standard ecu's for Japanese cars tend to run too rich, and every Japanese modified ecu that we have come across runs even richer. The ignition curves are generally set for 100 octane fuel or better, which of course we don't get here. There are also the atmospheric conditions to allow for that are obviously different.
The other issue is that any ecu that is pre-mapped wilways be a compromise (unless you are very lucky), as the odds are heavily stacked against the mapping being perfect for your car.
We had a guy come in recently with a Civic VTi that had paid £1100 for a Mugen (probably the best known Honda tuner) ecu. We ended up taking it off and doing a custom mapped ecu supplied, fitted and mapped for about half of that price, which worked a LOT better.
Thanks for that, makes sense. I didn't quite the reason in sending the ECU to jp when there someone like yourself to do it properly :D

That sure looks Tough!! very intimidating to passers
Are you running HID? or is it the yellow fogs the make your main beam look so clean and white!?
Granite Sky was my first choice, but i got my black tezza at an unrefusable price.
Overall well done, everything really works well B)

Dave answer my e-mail re: RMM Lip ;)
-
Looks quite subtle i would say. Almost like the RMM kit!!
You want to check the quality of the fit with that kit first though.
-
Slightly off topic, these are some of the finest dials and gauges i've seen in digital format :)
-
That's it Steve..... nothing gets past you does it ?
Too right ... i notice all the good mods.......
And i nick 'em :P
-
jdm, i'll bear that in mind when i'm ready to order.

Is it true you have to send your ECU to Blitz jp for them to re-programme it?
Maybe not on the IS200, but possibly only for the Altezza?
-
Depends, if you want it to look agreessive, slam it hard. I did it for that simple reason, the IS/Altezza looks like it has NO balls at std. ride height, 30mm is damn nothing to me, 70mm+ thats more my style.
Don't even go there with 'your tyres won't last' i do 3000miles a year in my car :D

Yeh? my mate has the vtec one on his civic type r seems to help him improve his 1/4..
Also the emanage has higher resolution maps and it can do timing, could be a bonus if any..
-
Looking good mate!!!
Any arch mods? how wide are the rims?
-
aido,
it can go more, i wound the back down till all the tyre and the rim was in the arch, but the front was maxed out with just all the tyre inside! so for show purposes i guess it can be taken to the next level again.
once the 19s go on i think it will give some decent road clearance, currently its stopping me from going into Newport Pagnell Town due to the humps!!
Look fwd to your pics Scorpion!

Hi Guys,
Spotted a set of wheels on this site that i would like to get for my IS..
Any ideas what these wheels are?
cheers
These are made by Axis, forgotten the model name, but they appear to be 8.5x19 on that IS..
You'll need 45+ offset and skinny rubber :)

Thanks guys. I have been looking at the Apex-i S-AFC too. The Apex-i seems to be more popular and a cheaper option.
No major mods at the mo, only induction kit, nos and soon a prolex zorst...
-
Maz, yours is pretty low, but you have a gaping huge bodykit too!
I win :P
front flaps removed from under the front bumper as they just rested on the ground
-
Okay cool. Hope its not tooo long, my exhaust took a battering over a speed bump earlier this week :(
-
Any update on these Mr Prolex.. ?
-
Guys stumbled across this after seeing it on Australian forum. Seems to be a air fuel controller than is wired into the ecu. http://www.greddy.com/prod_e_manage.htm - more info here.
Check out the gains in torque,
I think its awesome for the money considering that much gain in torque.. Any opinions?
-
if your gpna s/c the IS200, then perhaps think abotu getting or go for the altezza, whilst a 4Cylinder (IS's are 6) it coems with 210BHP already (form a 2 litrre) then if you want more then you can lok at adding a turbo etc..
Or Nos :winky:

The guys who bought Apexi's from me have IS200 and IS300s. I have no noise, but i have an Altezza. Now there is virtually no difference in the suspension other than the weight of the car.
I need experience thos noise for myself, the only noise i hear is when my sump scrapes over speed bumps :s
-
aido,
since i took the pics from the time i fitted the coilovers, i have lowered in on 2 seperate occasions.. more and more!!
I had to remove the little plastic flaps under the front bumper as they 'sat' on the floor!!
I will have to get some new pics in the gallery ;)
IIRC my Apexi's don't have rubber mount and i have no noise, however fargo does i wouldn't have thought the difference from is300 to altezza would effect it on the rear end..
-
Steve, is there a difference with that armrest in the eBay link and a OEM item?
-
I would still rather have a ferrari, but this is some commitment and skill!!
