  1. Just thought for future reference if anyone asks: I have discovered Kindle is an android tablet so will download Torque Pro on to the Kindle, has a larger screen than my phone so will be easier to see. Regards
  2. Ordered the mini OBD2 and have just found out my Windows phone Nokia Lumia 520 is not an android phone and Torque Pro can not be downloaded on to a Windows phone. I have managed to download an app for "Motorist" that seems to do the same as Torque. Is there another alternative that is compatible with OBD2 and Windows phone. Nothing is ever straight forward with Windows. Regards
  3. Thanks Chris but I think I will get one of the mini ones, it is more compact and will not get in the way and I can leave it in. I am really grateful for all the help everyone has offered. So pleased there is somewhere to go for a help, Lexus is a wonderful car but soooo! expensive, this will give me an insight in to the vehicle and probably save me being ripped off. Best regards to all
  4. Just been looking on YouTube at some demonstrations of this little device, looks great. However there are so many on offer from £6.99 to £14.99. They look the same, eBay or amazon ? I like the fact that you can buy Torque Pro app. Has anyone actually used this on a Lexus RX300. I am so exited I can't wait to buy one if you say they work on the RX300. Regards
  5. Thanks Chris, how do we do that. I have a desktop computer and a Nokia 850 mobile. (prefer my computer) Or are you joking?
  6. Absolutely where you said it was, it was the OBD2 being in the socket that threw me. Ok so now what do I do, get a reader and wait for the lights to come on. Thanks everyone for your help. Best wishes
  7. I looked with a torch and got contorted looking right under the drivers side, couldn't find anything like the photo. perhaps it is behind a small panel. Its dark now so I will have another search in daylight. Thanks for your help, let you know if I find although like a dog chasing a car I am not sure what I will do with it if I find it.
  8. No, nothing like that near the pedals. The only thing I can see is on the throttle pedal and I presume that is the throttle control. I have noticed under the bonnet behind the fuse box is a box with "Relay" on it and inside are some what look like square plugs. According to the design inside the lid they are for Horn/ lights and some thing AF on one but I don't want to pull any of them out. Could this be where the diagnostic code reader gets plugged in. I am surprised it is not in the hand book.
  9. I have been having the same problem for 3 years now. The ABS and VSC light come on randomly and each time I have taken it to a garage or switched the engine off and turned the ignition on again they go out and stay out for day/ weeks/ months. I asked my garage to check when they did the full service. They told me they couldn't find a error code. So what can you do when the lights stay off and then come on randomly especially when I am not near a garage who could diagnose while the lights are on. I don't notice any problem with the braking or the stability. I have been thinking of getting one of these diagnostic kit and doing it myself because then I could do it whenever or wherever it happens. can some one pleas tell me where the diagnostic plug is on my 2004 RX300.
  10. I think you will find these cameras are mainly for insurance use in the event of an accident, the additional ability for parking incidents is optional. I have actually used the SCC myself and I understand where you are coming from and I wish you all the luck but I didn't intend to use it for every "car park scratch". I have to mention last year while in a supermarket car park we returned to our car to meet a young man and girl waiting; claiming we had hit their car. I knew we hadn't for the simple reason I have parking sensors and they didn't sound, It turned out to be a scam, had we had a dash camera it would have been a lot easier to prove, a little like the whiplash scam which is so prevalent now. Some times justice is sweet. Please no more replies I think this has run it's course. Regards
  11. Why so negative, if something helps to protect your property why wouldn't you try to follow up with it. I think you will find it is a criminal act to leave the scene of an accident. OK it's not perfect but I don't know about you but I am a little sick and tired of people treating my property with disrespect and if necessary I would pursue them through the small claims court because if they keep on getting away with this sort of behaviour where will it end. Regards and Happy New Year
  12. I understand your concerns however the dash cam has the ability to record if someone hits your car when parked. The wire would not be visible and the camera will be inline with the rear view mirror. It could cover when parked in a supermarket car park, I seem to have gained several scratches and dents while at the supermarket and you can't take it down each time you park, only at night when the car is in my drive. Thanks for the heads up. Happy New Year
  13. Thanks, yes I understand there is a fitting that copies the cig lighter socket and this connects to any live connection with a fuse and then you just plug in to that. Thanks very much have a Happy new year
  14. I have just bought a dash cam and is says It can also be used to record any contact when parked but it must have a live connection when the key is switched off or taken out. It usually slots in to the cig lighter or one of the other power points but I don't think they are live when the ignition is off. Can anyone tell me how to make one of these power points live all the time. Regards
  15. Sorry Steve but it is not a space saver, it is a full blown spare, new from the day of manufacture. I guess 10 year old tyre might be a little old but it hasn't been used so it should be ok for occasional use. It looked fine to me, no cracks, looked as if it had just been fitted. Regards Happy Christmas
  16. Thanks everyone for that speedy enlightenment. The wheel is not a skinny wheel, full blown wheel fitted with a Bridgestone (not a cheap tyre) It looks in really good condition, all the fitter did was rub the tyre to check what date it was manufactured. I suppose it was good advice and considering I am having a new tyre fitted the spare can go back in to the dark underside of the car. I am rather pleased I went direct to a tyre fitting garage when I noticed the tyre was underinflated and had a large screw showing in the tread because there is no way |I would have been able to lower the spare wheel down properly, evidently you have to keep the tension on the cable and pull the wheel and cover outwards. Mind you I thought about it afterwards and realised I could have called Green Flag out. Thanks again and all have a happy Christmas.
  17. I have a RX300 2004, today I had the first puncture and it couldn't be repaired so while the tyre firm orders a new tyre the fitted the spare. I have never used the spare, I haven't even dropped it down to check it. It turns out to be a brand new tyre fitted by Lexus when the vehicle was new. The tyre fitter told me the spare was ok for local use and would fit the new tyre to replace the punctured one back on the vehicle and put the spare back in the rack. I am mystified why this brand new unused tyre could be too old to be safe. Do you think that is true. I have to admit I was pleased it was a brand new tyre and perfect wheel because I had always dreaded getting a puncture but disappointed at the advice.
  18. Hi everyone. I have a 2004 Lexus RX300 and every now and again a couple of lights come on when I am driving in the dash, one is the ABS and the other is, I think IC something to do with traction. I am not sure because they come on some times and don't stay on. They go off after I have switched off, done some shopping or popped in to get a paper and when I start up they go off as normal and might not come on again for days/weeks or even months. It worried me the first time this happened and I was going to go the a garage but when I started up again they were off so I didn't worry, everything works as normal even when the lights are on. Any advice welcome
