  1. At the weekend a Peugeot 106 who was heading towards me decided to drift into the middle of the road. I had to swerve at 70mph+ hitting the curb with my front alloy - better than the Pug! And even luckier not to end up in the ditch upside down. :o The tyre seems fine.. no bulges etc. The alloy just has a gouge and scrap right the way around the rim. The rim is 18" (supplied with lexus styling kit). I have heard that this could be repaired? Has anybody had this done? Any recommendations or ideas would be greatfully recieved. Cheers Paul
  2. AMH - what do you reckon on the K&N? Where did you get it from??
  3. I actually installed a timer unit yesterday for an auto-closure unit... the diagram that i based it on was from Geoffers (posted on a forum discussion somewhere!) He had a circuit using either electronic components or an industrial timer and relay. I was able to do it using just an industrial pulse-on timer (suppied from RS Components) as this ha d a douple-pole change over contacts. Pretty simple really - only took an hour or two! Now the wingmirrors shut when the alrm is armed... and reopens when turning on the ignition!!!
  4. thanks for all the comments. My initial thought was silver callipers and black stickers.. so going to buy the stickers and paint them when it gets warmer & drier!! Do you fully remove the callipers - disocnnect pipes etc, or just unbolt it and mask the other areas??
  5. Thanks chaps. All your comments greatfully recieved! Whered did you get the K&N panel filter from??
  6. Im after improving the sound and power of my IS200 Sport without it costing the earth. I'm thinking of either a air filter replacement panel or a new cone filter kit. Which would people recomend? Ive heard and seen on some of the chat forums that heat can actually reduce power due to intake pipes on full kits that run over the engine!? Advice greatfully recieved. Cheers.
  7. Where can i get some DDE's from and what is a decent price for them? I read on another forum page that they are custom. Are any designed for the UK IS200 or still a custom fit with slight mods? Cheers
  8. Thanks chaps. Ive got a Plat Ice IS200....what do you reckon then on colours for the callipers and the stickers??
  9. The car is 51 reg, so late 2001 and done 32,000miles. I know the voltmeter on the dash is approx 13.5 volts and not moving much with revs or load. I'll check with a voltmeter 2moro. Would you expect an alternator to fail in just over 2 years? Would this be a warranty item?
  10. Daft question, i know, but i have to ask.... The LOC calliper stickers detailed on this website, have different colours - red, black, silver etc... what is the colour - is it the text??? if so, what colour is the background. No taking the **** please! Cheers.
  11. Driving home tonight, I noticed that when i turned my heated rear screen on the dipped headlights dimmed quite considerably - and stayed dimmed (until I revved the engine). The revs were down at 750rpm - with heated screen on. I know that the rear screen takes quite some power, but should it be that much? Should the battery / alternator cope with it without showing any symtoms of reduced power?? Im worried that this maybe a sign that something is failing - or is it normal?? Any advice & comments greatly recieved. Cheers.
  12. Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help me? Does anyone have electrical wiring & circuit diagrams for the IS200 (presumably all models are the same). I am specifically after around the lighting with the headlights and front fogs. Thanks. Be careful in all that snow Paul
  13. Eventually got to the sat nav last night... and the DVD did have a few dirty marks on it. Cleaned it up and it works fine. Thanks for the advice.
  14. Thanks. I'll have a look tonight, and let you know.
  15. I've had my Lexus IS200 Sport now for 5 days.. and what a fun 5 days!! However, I have just come to use my Sat Nav (DVD as on 2001 version) and the screen is showing some message of the sort.... "UNABLE TO READ DVD - PROBLEM WITH MAP DVD" ..... or something like that. Has anybody experienced such problems before or got any idea's? Where is the DVD for the Sat Nav? In the boot - in the silver metal unit? If so, does it have to be unbolted to get the dvd in & out? Cheers.
  16. Must be a good choice is you are having on them on that beast, Maz!!! I had some Toyo Proxes on my last car (only an Astra) and they didnt last two minutes...very very soft! Which made for good grip though. Wouldnt like that repeated cost replacing them on the 18" rims!!!!!
  17. Hi there. This is my first post to the website.. and also my first Lexus! Getting a 51 Reg IS200 Sport with styling kit etc at end of this week (hopefully).... I cant wait!! :P I however need four new tyres ... 225/40/18's. My local tyre garage have recommended Avon ZZ3's as they are a good all-round tyre, and also dont break the bank balance. What is the thought on them? Anybody got good or bad reviews on them? Cheers.
