  1. Thanks. I will have a test drive soon so I'll see. I sat in one already and it seems bigger than bmw 3 series which is good but GS seems to be much better space wise... Only this boot without folding seats puts me away from GS in case of Ikea run.....
  2. Is AVS very important? I like comfort ever so more when ageing... There are heated seats - that's enough for me. Thanks for spotting alloys - had no clue they are refurbished... And I'll ask Martin from Lexus Lincoln about ext warranty if I buy car outside of dealership... Thank You very much guys!
  3. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201703153316446?model=IS 300H&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&advertising-location=at_cars&sort=price-asc&postcode=ln12ep&make=LEXUS&radius=1500&page=1 Hello ALL!!! After having a Lexus GS430 about 6 years ago I am thinking of getting IS 300h. I saw one at the above link and am stunned how cheap it is compared to some other minding this one's state and all extras that it seem to have (M Levinson is a MUST for me XD). I have one question though. It has 112k on the clock - not even having a first MOT. Newer dials - fancy moving ones... I have called a dealer and an unhelpful man answered saying that this is one company owner car with full Lexus SH. Please advice me if I should be afraid of a mileage as I have heard that hybrid system is guaranteed only up to 75k mileage and batteries up to 100k? So in case of anything happening I am in deep you know what. A bit reassuring fact is that car seems to be like new and looks well cared for. Other thing is that I currently have prius 07 reg with 160k miles and still complete trust in it's reliability as it never broke down on me for 2 years. Compared to Lexus Lincoln this would be a huge bargain for me with the specs I am after. Saving at least 4-5k on what I can get from a dealer. I am considering a GS300h to get really feeling posh :-) but with budget up to 15k I am forced to look for a similar deal with bigger mileage bargain - yet same thing - afraid of batteries & hybrid system life span. Please help me make up mi mind. (I really want Lexus but if it is not a good choice considering mileage I would go with 2012 Prius - but really want not to - just want a good looking car for a change) Thanks, Martin, Lincoln
  4. Yes but some codes aparently didn't show up before other beforehand ones have been rectified. Then all ok and couple of weeks after another code pops out. Like i said before I went to Manchester from Lincoln A2 - then M62 and M60 doing quick ;-)))......Cause I could ;-)))))))))) and average was 15 mpg on motorway - to say straight I've used 3/4 of a tank while doing 235 miles. Thats £80 worth of petrol only to Manchester and back. That's well to much and then this knock sensor which was not popping out before and now cats. I love the car I would reaaallly like to keep it but how can I run a car with such mpg.
  5. Right. I have had enough with my Lexus. After changing knock sensor which aparently was next in line of all them faulty sensors(cost £480) there is another fault which is still causing high petrol usage - underperformance of catalitic converters. I am not even checking the price of them as I've heard they are ceramic and will cost dearly. Is is three of them as well? I have run out of money and haven't got nerves to try to get my car to run properly. It's just not what I was expecting to deal with after buying a car known to be very reliable. Sad, coz I love it and would like to be able to enjoy having it but it just is too much to deal with as I've lost a job too so fixing anymore is no option. Really when I think about what I thought about Lexus beforehand and now.......
  6. Got ib back finally. It was MAF sensor in a first place and then knock sensor underneath manifold. Costed me £480 and lots of patience testing... Still emissions are bit above to pass but I was told to drive it for a couple of weeks and we'll do test again. Al least car behaves now like never before - response is way better than it was before. See what will be after the trial.
  7. Right. Garage says after They've changed MAF sensor emissions are 50% better of what it was. Next ecu problem that was not shown before and now popped up is PO325 code. Waiting for quote and will commence repair as soon as salary comes through. Edit: MAF sensor + garage fee = 180 Knock sensor 134 + 3 hours work to change it = 300 So I'll pay 480 to hopefully get it all fixed finally. Will see on friday the 12-th. I was told that car will be ready on monday. Dam...n garages. It's week and a half already. Commuting wifes Mazda 323 ;-(
  8. Car is in the garage at the moment - should know something tmrw. Then I'll check how the wheels spin when pulled up at my mates garage. Ghosty - why are You looking fo a Jag - they are not very reliable at all...:-((( (I was thinking of getting XJ supercharged but lots of bad opinions around). And which one You're after? Btw radiator is holding up as it was before, just need to top up some water every now and then. After I've managed to sort mpg out will try to lower it down and propably go LPG as I might loose my job soon. Then I should be ok to keep my Lexus costs down enough not to be forced to sell. We'll see.
  9. But this mean me going to Notts with 8,9 mpg ;-)))))) Which would be about 40 pounds in fuel..... And I am working 7am-5pm, then leave city stood in traffic means I would be there about 7pm. Tempting but I don't think it has any value at this point before I'll take it back to Lexus to have it code read. Sorry Rick, but after I've finished fixing it - with pleasure. Weird is that there is no problem at all on cold engine and then it shows up. I bet it would be some sensor somewhere...
  10. Didn't check exhaust yet. Is it normal to have funny popping sound after You parked up, like from frying pan? Somebody said it's normal just cats cooling down...?
  11. Just commuting 5 miles a day and sometimes about 15 miles to Sleaford or Newark but thats it. Once or twice East Midlands Airport which is about an hour drive. But when i drive about town for some time I've tried to be gentle and do not push to hard constantly looking at trip info. You know when You feel like that there is something wrong when You feel car's urge to pull but he refuses to go and when it goes it does it in a struggling way. Like everybody says urban should be about 16mpg - I would accept even 13 knowing my foot but I am SURE something is wrong. Here's video from a few minutes later that day when car was heated up. Maybe it will shed some light... http://youtu.be/tNhkMJJXuTI
  12. It does change, maybe not constantly but it moved until it reached this figures and it stays like this now. As for other part actually it has been filled up the top and as You can see it did just over 100 miles on full tank. Nearly though but You know what I mean... ;-)
  13. Sorry I'll change it as soon as.... thought You could see it like this... Edit: should be ok now.
  14. That's a thing. Nothing happening in a morning. Later on it starts to be laggy when it's a bit warmer. Problem is that I cannot make a video as I'm at work and then busy till it's dark, but I'll try to make some more soon. I've heard that problem might be oxy sensors not reset after changing though...
  15. I've seen Yours figures for mpg and it sounds perfectly as it supposed to be Dave. That is what i expect for mine as well. Will try to make it right but I'm bit skinned now so it all depends if I still had a job which is not certain at the moment. Will know in a couple of weeks and then I could move on with sorting my best ever car. Not the newest but just one of them making You smile. Another one is Volvo s60 D5 but is not as fast o quiet.
  16. I bought my car from private trader who sells all high class cars only. He must have had mine as part exchange as most of his cars was 9k onwards. It has 93k miles so it's not too bad for mileage Checked it on DVLA and MOT history looks genuine and with no problems at all. Somehow I feel it would be best to change MAF sensor anyway - thats what seemed to be most common problem with GS430. Then throttle position sensor and acceleration pad sensors to check but no garage seems to be willing to properly check any of them. Everybody says it's all ok. No faults at all. Grrrrr..... What I think is that it may have been involved in something that made last owner change all them front cooling bits but nothing is recorded. Another problem I have is my work as I can't get any time off without angrying my oldfashioned boss. So getting car somewhere further away is no option. Lexus Lincoln denies checking anything else before cooling system is done. They were nice to me but that's what they said to me. And all is so posh down there that I feel really bad arguing with them about costs.
  17. All the lamps are OK at start. Will do some more pictures hopefully tomorow. My GS has got sat nav and thats where I got my mpg figures from. Actually I'll do some video on Youtube of how it drives and then maybe somebody will see what is going on. Sorry about vent cradle ;-) Here's Lexus list: Radiator Fan Shroud £141.66 Radiator Fan 2x £103.26 Radiator Fan Motor 2x £266.22 (really??????????) Fan Nut 2x £1.14 Fan bolts 3x £0.29 Expansion Tank £170.98 (another one really??????? for a bit of plastic???????) £1026.40 + VAT 205.28 = £1231.68 They need to change above to see if radiator itself needs to be changed which is: Part number 16400-50270 £285.84 + VAT = £343 That is only the parts - labour is £115 per hour. I've bought my car for £2500 - really no need to charge this much for all them parts.
  18. First thing I've managed to check was spark plugs given back to me when I took my GS back today. I cannot describe stupidity of omeone owning the car before to put such rubbish in to engine. Less one that's correct fit. Idle with them, weirdly, wasn't too bad. Funny that my garage wouldn't tell me what did they put in now - just said there are recommended ones with sharp tip. Hope this will be Denso or NGK - I'll try to check it later and as well will do some pictures of engine bay. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Radiator is atm back to what it was when I bought it - closed circuit with reservoir not connected at all. Guys at garage told me that rad is not leaking - it was pressure from when system was going through reservoir that made its cap pop out and burst most of water (dread using anythin else at this point). Found this and I am tempted to have a go as nobody else got proper one except Lexus. Problem is with vent cradle as it hosts reservoir but this is nowhere else to get but Lexus as well. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1c23b23565 I will copy Lexus list and post it later. Now - mpg is still less then 9 and lad at garage argued with me that it will go higher later on, but is not bad cause it is V8. (I do not believe this bul...t at all) Gearbox hesitates badly in a weird way. When pedal is pressed hard it thinks and thinks and then goes.... But sometimes when i press it gently but constantly down to full it gets much less lag.... What can this be? It's like it would like to go quicker but something is blocking it and then releases. Much more likely uphill - sensitivity goes much worse. Btw I live in Lincoln. Maybe someone knows a good garage that does Lexus well but won't ruin my budget. Thx. Martin PS Greetings to everybody. Sorry for not having a time to do it properly but I work 56 hours a week and it's hard to find more time and strenght to properly look around forum.
  19. I bought my car about 2 months ago and everything seemed to be ok. Just battery dead and VSC lights on. On my way home i've hit "german motorway" and did 140 without any sweat so seemed to be all ok. Got battery changed, ruskington lad reset abs sensors which made vsc go nicely off. Then all ok until one day after quite fast acceleration all went sluggish and then I've started to check forums. To be honest I did not have a chance to check MPG before it happened because simply not having time to go and search where the hell is mpg shown ;-))) Thakn You for the radiator tip = I'll check it later. Radiator itself is 350 from Lexus - bit expensive. Reservoir is 170+VAT imagine!!!
  20. That's what I was expecting of my 430 - to do at least 16mpg and i'll be ok with it. There is no faults on ecu at all. MAF sensor has been cleaned twice by ruskington garage, oxy sensors changed and oil changed too. I've got K&N air filter if this does help anything? And while driving it seems like acceleration hesitates and then after about 2-3 secs it starts to go fast. Was a bit better after changing them oxy sensors and after about 2-3 days went worse but not as bad as it was before. Thx for advice - I'll see to spark plugs and have it read again for ecu faults. And I only use momentum or sometimes shell one if passing by.
  21. I am running out of patience with my car. I love it but first having a problem of getting a radiator from anywhere but Lexus (any help??? still looking for one) - checked ebay all over the internet and nothing but some US ebay site. Nobody's got even used one. I need one because last owner put in radiator from gs300 with wrong reservoir and pipes wrongly connected. Then problem with MPG. Currently achieving about 8,7 mpg mostly town but gentle driving. I've had both lambda sensors changed (got them from Allwoods for about £60 each) - MAF sensor had been cleaned by garage and thats it. Nobody knows what's causing low MPG and Lexus won't check until radiator will be done (quoted me £1400 just for parts). Any clues?
