  1. Anyone know how to clean the MAF sensor on an IS250? thinking its time i gave it a clean.
  2. Just wondering how many members here have done high mileage on their IS250? Would be nice to hear how many high mileage IS250's are on here and experiences with any problems that might have been encountered. My 2006 IS250 just over 130k - Only things that needed doing were rear shocks and a seized brake calliper. On a separate note, i hear a water travelling noise when starting the car on very cold days (not sure if this indicates air in the coolant system, but i dont have any overheating issues even being stuck in idle traffic for long periods of time)
  3. nevermind, i think i have sorted it out. the intake noise thing pointed me in the right direction, so decided to take all the plastic covers off to inspect and realised there was a vaccum leak on the air intake pipe which had some oil stain on it. The factory clip seemed to have lost its tension so i replaced it with a jubilee clip. Then took of the Negative terminal and left for 15mins while cleaning the engine plasitc covers. Then after i restarted it, i let the ECU do it's re-learning for 10minutes and went for a 30minutes drive and so far so good and my intake noise is back to normal.
  4. A few occasions during last winter I had the check VSC sign pop up and then disappear after a restart and driving off. Today it came back as it was a cold night but this time the message is not disappearing. The car seems to be driving fine. I've added a can of BG44K but hasnt made a difference yet. Also I have the airbox drilled holes mod which makes the nice intake noise, but with this error I noticed the intake noise doesnt seem to be there anymore
  5. Does anyone know if the Lexus IS250 uses negative or positive trigger for the central locking and alarm system? I've got a kit that I need to install and need to locate the negative trigger wire. Any idea how I can locate this? where would this wire be?
  6. i've put in a can of BG44K today and filled the tank with just over 50L of fuel. Will see how it goes in the next few days.
  7. Thanks for the replies everyone. any particular style of driving to help the BG44K? also where does all the existing carbon build-up go? i'm assuming it comes out of the exhaust. But i guess I wont be able to see this as this will all be happening while i am driving? or will i see carbon residue on the exhaust tail-pipe?
  8. That's great to hear. I've ordered a bottle of BG44K :) when my tank needs filling up, should i empty the entire bottle into my tank and then add the fuel? Yeap that's exactly what it does and then it rises again and becomes ok.
  9. Thanks for that Geoff, i did read some of your posts. So the AR6200 is a fuel additive to add to the fuel to prevent problems. What about to clean the existing build-up? I've read that the BG44K is supposed to be good for that. Any experience or ideas about the BG44K? Was thinking of getting the BG44K and then once cleaned-up start using the AR6200 on a regular basis during fill-ups.
  10. My IS250 is now 5 years old and i've read alot of american IS owners having carbon buildup issues. I read that this was because they have very low octane fuel and their premium is about 94ron, and this causes excess carbon build over our regular stuff. Problem is that my IS 250 AUTO occasionally suffers from the symptoms of carbon build up. It shivers from time to time as if it is about to stall. And last winter during a cold start I had the check VSC light come on and again once this winter. This disappears as soon as car is running for a few minutes. I read somewhere about adding some sort of fuel cleaner in to the fuel tank when filling petrol. Any recommendations as to what product? Do i add an entire bottle of the cleaner before filling the tank? Thanks
  11. I just measured the step from the edge to the disc surface and it is about 2.2mm on one and 2.8mm on the other.
  12. Has anyone had mintex front discs installed on their IS250? just wondering if they are any good?
  13. Can anyone tell me how I can measure/determine if my brake disc is worn too much and if it needs changing. The pads are all new as it was replaced few months ago but the dealership didnt pick up or comment on the discs. I have already done over 30k miles with my front discs and my brakes have recently started feeling a little weird. So I am wondering if it is time to change the front discs. If I touch along the surface of the front discs and go to the edge of it, the surface goes in more than the edge, does this indicate that the discs are worn out?
  14. I have an IS250, can anyone help me (possibly with a pic or so) locate where I am supposed to put an axle stand when I jack up my IS250? Thanks
