  1. Well... Have owned my is for 3 days now... Started to overheat on the way home from buying it but put the heater on and it went back down to normal so i was thinking maybe air lock or thermostat... However let my mechanic take a look at it today and he said, its the head.. This was a big surprise to both of us as it looks very well maintained and with no smoke or mayo or anything.. However he said he did a liquid test, which came back green and there are small bubbles rising out of the coolant Now the car drives perfectly with the heater on and i suppose i could just sell it.... However was looking on ebay and there seems to be alot of engines for sale... Or what would the cost of a repair be???.. Any one had experience with A1 engines on ebay??? Generally dont trust those kind of outfits but they have a lot of good feedback... Just a bit ****** off as i was not expecting perfection for £1200 but at least something i could drive for a while before having to get oily.... Any advice????
  2. Hello. New to the site, just bought my first is200 yesterday.. Unfortunately on the way home it started to overheat :megaangry: Now its 99 model in mint condition, one owner, full lex history, 100k on the clock timing belt and water pump changed at 75k, oil is clean and bang on the mark, coolant is clean bang on the mark, no mayo under the caps, no smoke out the back, not loosing any coolant or oil, no visible leaks... So, put the heater on when I noticed the temp rising and it went back down to just under the half way mark for the rest of the 100 mile journey.. Any ideas? Owner said she hadnt driven it for six months since she bought her new car.. Seized thermostat? Air lock? HG? :eerrrmm: Car drives like new..
  3. Hi guys just bought my first is200 today. Looks mint, 100k full lex service history blah blah blah.. However it started overheating on the way home from buying it.... Obviously was not happy about this.. Cant see any leaks, its not loosing any coolant, guy i bought it from said it has not been driven for 6 months since he bought his new car, no mayo under cap, no smoke, turned heater on and temp returned to normal... drove it 100 miles with no probs... Hoping just air lock or thermostat but any other ideas???. water pump replaced at 75k along with timing belt..
