hi all i am into 6 months of lexus ownwership and now i am retired i am enjoying it more as i get more time to drive it. as i am one of the older generation my hearing is not as good as it used to be. my question is can i replace the reversing buzzer which i presume is in the boot as i find the tone very low and can only just hear it and can hardly pick up the change on reversing even with the radio off. can something different be installed in its place thats slightly louder and where can i get it if it is available

does anyone know where to get a decent set of 4 removable carpets for the 430 2001 on a y plate. i have tried one of the major suppliers listed on various sites who said i wanted the gs mark 2 spec and upon receipt of the mats the holes do not align to fit the retainer clips. only one hole seems to be in the correct position. any body purchased any aftermarket ones :hohoho:

hi all i am looking to put the 430 i bought back to as near original as possible.i will be ordering a set of mats soon but i was wondering what if anything other than the spare wheel and jack,tool kit may have been in the boot as the tray that covers the spare wheel seems to have a compartment that is vacant .would i be anything missing that i need to source :hohoho: merry christmas to all

hi newport just had it serviced and now need to do rear bushes(ordered) and booked in for monday to have exhaust done. very pleased so far

car been serviced and mechanic confirmed that bush can be bought seperatly so ordered 2 off ebay,in tomorrow to see what can be done with exhaust then everything should be ok. thanks tigerfish for help

tigerfish thank you for your quick reply. i understand that the bushes have wear and when these are pressed out or something may damage the bearings. when i pick up the car tomorrow he is going to do me a drawing which i can post and it may make more sense as i havent a clue what he is talking about. will also have more information re the exhaust as i will take the schematic you sent me to identify the part and i have it booked in at cobra in sheffield for thursday(similar to mij) and they will look to see if it will weld or make custom piece with cat. incidently priced bearing at andrew page and was about £50 each compared to the £190 plus i was quoted. will keep in touch

tiger fish more info as promised. may be able to get front exhaust from either mij or cobra in sheffield at around £250. the rear is the hub carrier bushes which i understand comes as one unit and i have been quoted £109 each and bearings at £199 per side. might be other way round

more confused now. looking at pics i presume the y piece is the one with the cat on. this sounds about right. will check wednesday. also emailed mij and cobra in sheffield for prices of both for the part and full system will let you know. will print photo and take with me

tigerfish thanks for the reply. from what the mechanic says he said it was the y piece (centre exhaust pipe?). he said that the bushes wanted replacing as there was movement in the wheel. i am not picking the car up while wednesday as he has ordered a new bonnet cable 23.50. he is ex toyota dealership mechanic. will get more info and post wednesday as he say the car is otherwise in a1 condition

hi all this may be long winded. picked up gs last week and had it in for service and once over today at independent garage.all oils and filters £90. was told that front exhaust blowing and quoted £590. also rear bearings or bushes cant remember which but says you need hub as well £309 a side. question is this 1)can exhaust be sourced cheaper. 2)when car was originally tested in august it mentioned serious blow from exhaust and it looks as if its been repaired with exhaust bandage and retested before i bought it. 3)spoke to garage who tested it and they say they know previous owner.i emailed owner and he says its the first time he has used garage not looking good. i love the car but nearly 1200 plus labour seems excessive any advise please

had to wash it before posting pics and before it goes in on monday for a loose bolt and the dreaded bonnet catch and some pampering with oil and filters

hi all again. looking at upgrading sat nav disc to latest version. to remove the disc from the player i presume you have to have acc switch on for it to eject properly. do you have to remove the dvd player with the screws at the top to give the disc enough clearance to eject as i need to see which version is in at the moment. thanks in advance

thanks all will post pics asap. car covered 119k and belt was done at 67k documented in 2006. only anticipating doing aroud 4k a year. car is a 2001 y plate se navigator

hi all thought i had posted earlier but cant find it. moderators please put in right catorgary if in wrong one picked up 2001 gs430 today and drove back home 100 miles and i am very impressed with the drive and luxury of the lexus (compared to my galaxy) cant wait to go on a longer drive. can someone help with one thing re belt change interval. i am told by the lexus dealership that it is 100k. this one has been changed at 67k. does that mean i need to change at roughly 134k or 167k

hi all picked up a gs430 today. older model on a y plate. drove nearly 100 miles back home and what a beautiful silent drive. cant wait to try all the features on a longer run to coast. can someone tell me belt change interval as i have been told by lexus these are 100k miles.i have documentation for a belt change at 67k does this mean i should change at about 134k or am i looking nearer 167k.. happy happy happy

after looking at various models gs300 gs430 and the older ls models over the last few months i have plumped for a gs430 2001 which i pick up next week.will be a luxury treat for me as it will get minimal use as my galaxy will be the workhorse but it will be hopefully a pleasure when driving to the coast to go in what i imagine is pure luxury. cant wait

hi all again spent last night on comparison sites again this time adding my brother.still cant get anywhere near lv quote i cant understand how insurance works by the time you pay the premium then if you are unfortunate to have any claims you pay compulsory excess voluntary excess and then they haggle over value makes you wonder if its worth it

i think my problem is that you have other people that can drive and both have no claims bonus. i will be the only driver and all the no claims will be on my galaxy so in theory i am starting afresh as i dont have anybody with no claims where we can go on each others policy

raykhan i always thought that it was the other way and the less drivers the smaller premium. will try to get requotes as i have my heart set on a 400

hi all thought i had replied to this yesterday but cant find it, i am looking to buy a 400 as a treat for myself and have looked around the comparison sites .i am 58 and been driving since i was about 20 never had a claim and have looked at fully comp for an older 400.this would be a second car with minimum mileage( about 3000 per year) and parked on the road. i have maximum no claims and the worst quote i have had is £4008. tried adrian flux £1900 and best i can get anywhere is lv at £750 seems a vast difference. may have to drop to gs300 where quotes are more reasonable at £430
