  1. I found a company who were able to remove the seal, it cost £85. After that was done, a mechanic friend cleaned it and put it back, the injector hasn't caused any problems since then. I really regret not buying the 250 in the first place, it sounds like a much better car. One thing is for sure, I cannot wait to be rid of it.
  2. I've never had more than 40mpg from my 220d. I only got that high once, when I filled up on the motorway. In town I get 19-22 and on a motorway run it sometimes goes up to 36-38, if I'm lucky. I wish I had gone for the 250, it would have been cheaper and probably far more reliable and no bloody DPF.
  3. @Shahpor they were 3 different injectors that failed. @Normski what is the economy like in the petrol? What are the advantages? You probably get better mpg from your 250 than I do from the 220d.
  4. An injector has gone again. This time I've removed it myself, but the seal is stuck again. I called the company who sorted it last time ( CleeBrothers ), but they seem to have increased their prices. Last time they quoted £60+VAT for the work and £120 for travelling from London to Cambridge, this time they have quoted £250 and I'm only 14 miles away... I'm not impressed to say the least. Luckily I found another company who are coming later today and will remove the seal for £80. This is the 3rd injector which has gone since I bought it, two and a half years ago time in which I've covered around 17,000 miles. After I get this fixed I'll be done with Lexus.
  5. I had the same problem last year. I ended up taking it to lexus and paying around £85 for them to change it. Apparently it needs a special tool to remove a cover, if you don't use the tool then you will likely break the cover/enclosure which will be more expensive to fix than taking it to lexus. If the garage had ever services an IS before then they would have known that they are unable to replace the fuel filter and told you before. I ended up paying more than if I had just taken it to Lexus to be serviced....
  6. It just passed it's MOT. They put it down as a warning, saying it's a small leak. I was wondering if it's something that will just go or if it will be ok got 5, 10k miles. I do around 6000 a year.
  7. Does anyone know how long until the shock absorbers stop functioning if they have a leak? Apparently mine have a small leak. If I don't sell my car, I will probably use the links you recommended. Thank you!
  8. It seems I need to order a new light, the whole thing as it's easier than fixing or replacing the ballast inside. Shame I wasted £107 on a new, non refundable bulb when the old one was probably fine.
  9. Just failed MOT because the left bulb wouldn't come on. It's been temperamental recently, flickering on and off then staying on. I went to get a replacement from Eurocar parts, it cost £107. A really cool guy from a local garage changed it in under 10 minutes, but it turns out that the bulb wasn't the problem. I'm taking him the car on Tuesday to investigate. I hope the whole thing doesn't need changing. I've just about had enough of this car....
  10. Hi, My DPF is so blocked I have to avoid driving at busy times or the engine will cut out. Can anyone recommend a decent company that can remove, clean and put the DPF back on? Has anyone removed their DPF and cleaned it out? My understanding is that they can be cleaned in one of the following ways: 1. In a device which pumps pressured air through it, then it's placed in an over at 600-800 degrees C for several hours, then air pressures through it again. 2. The Ceramix method where it's placed in water where ultrasound vibrates all the soot out, then pressurised air is pumped through to remove anything that is left. 3. Remove DPF or have garage remove it, then DIY - use a water pressure washer to remove all soot, dry then put in back in. Any advice is appreciated. I'm not going to pay Lexus over £1000 for them to replace their faulty DPF. When I spoke to them they said that this happens on all diesel cars. Strange how it's never happened on any of my parents cars (X5 3.0d or E class (280d), or on any other family or friends vehicles.
  11. I found a garage in London that specialises in removing injectors. They quoted me £216. £60+ VAT for the work £120 + VAT for the travel (1hr each way). ------ £180 + VAT = £216. Rather than spend so much on them travelling London - Cambridge, I searched for a local company. I found an old mechanic that had a seal removal tool (copper washer), he had a go yesterday but was unable to get it out because: "might not have helped that they tried without proper tools" "others might not touch it because of what they have done to it". I called the London based company and booked them in for today. I just hope that the garage didn't damage the washer too badly and that they are able to remove the washer so that I can get my car running again. If the London injector removal company manages to remove the injector seal I will happily pay them the £216 as otherwise I face having to pay for the engine to come and and the head gasket off.
  12. A couple of weeks ago I was driving to the coast, at some traffic lights I put the window down and heard a loud ticking sound coming from under the hood. It turns out this is a faulty injector. I took the car to a garage who confirmed this. Being covered by warranty direct (100% labour & 50% parts), I called them to authorize the claim. Later the same day I was told that they would pay £449 and I was to pay another £380-ish. I thought this was better than nothing and asked the garage to go ahead. (£390 for the injector, £25 seals +VAT). A full 5 working days later I was told that they have managed to remove the injector but NOT the injector seal, which is stuck at the bottom. It has now been 9 working days and the garage have given up. They have recommended I either take the car to another garage, but that it would have to be towed, or they remove the engine, the head, remove the seal then put everything back together. I called warranty direct to authorize all the extra labour, however they said that they cover work on the injector, not the seals, therefore I would have to pay for this myself. They told me that there are companies out there with specialist tools, who can remove stuck seal. I am in Cambridge, can anyone please recommend such a company? I managed to find one in north Yorkshire, but they do a minimum of two and would charge about £300 because of the distance. Please advise, Thank you.
  13. That is very good news! I think I will try disconnecting the EGR as well. Is this difficult to do? Do I need a garage or can I do it myself? How did you do yours?
  14. I bought a used IS220d in February and think it's about time to take it in for a small service. It had a major service in December, so I'm guessing 6 months is about right. I've only done around 3000 miles since I've had it and the oil is still looks clean, however I put a warranty direct warranty on it, meaning it has to be serviced to manufacturers' recommendations. Has anyone used the Lexus garage in Cambridge? I cannot find any information on their prices. Do you know if Jardine motors are trustworthy? I have no idea what to expect price wise, should I take it to a toyota garage instead, or perhaps an indie? The Jardine motors offer this service plan, I think it looks appealing, but I'm in no way an expert: Essential Care service plan If your Lexus model is over five years old and no longer covered by warranty, Lexus Essential Care is the service plan product to suit you. This fixed-price solution is available for just £159 per year, and entitles you to benefit from highly skilled technicians, genuine parts and labour costs. There is also the option to pay by direct debit at a cost of just £21.95 monthly. The Essential Care plan is inflation proof and includes one minor service, one major service, and two MOTs over a two-year period. What do you think? What should I do, where should I go? Any advice is greatly appriciated, Many thanks,
