  1. Glad you like it. The car is in today having a service, just had a call from Lexus and it needs new plugs. when I got up off the floor after their quote for the job, I told them to go ahead, it's not cheap owning an SC430 but it's worth it,when I met the driver from Lexus to take the car to Battersea to be serviced, lots of people were asking if they could take pics. You can't help but be proud can you to own such a great car. John
  2. Hi when I was looking for new alloys for my SC I was told that 18 x 8 JJ or 18 x 8.5 J would be suitable. I took the easy way out and replaced them with the exact same size as the original wheels namely 18 x 8JJ. All I know is the JJ is the offset (whatever that means). I took my car to a great company Motorsport at Sidcup (they have branches all over) they supplied and fitted the new alloys, for a great price, they said if the wheels are not the exact size as per Lexus specification it could affect the ABS system. Hope this is helpful John
  3. Hi Thought you may be interested in my new front grill. I really wanted to make the change to a stainless steel grill. I have kept the original and bought a spare to try out the new grill. I am delighted with results , look forward to see what other SC owners think.
  4. Hi Hope your test drive goes well. You will be won over the second you get into the SC, I have never owned or driven a better car. Every time you drive it you will just smile. Like you I saw an SC in a car park and knew instantly it was the car for me. If the car has a Lexus service history it is best to continue it, I have one with my car and I have a service contract with Lexus which costs around £40 per month. Cheers John
  5. After buying a set of new 14 spoke wheels, which left the brake callipers exposed. So I decided to paint them red and add some decals. What do you think? I never liked the original wheels on the 2001 model, my wife described them as dustbin lids, that made me dislike them even more. (I have of course kept the original alloys) Lexus had been no help whatsoever, sad to say, as I tried going through a Lexus main dealer first.
  6. These are the new wheels on my Lexus SC430, next I plan to change the calipers to red. Look forward to any feedback.
  7. Well, thanks to all the posts, in particular, from John who recommended Fox Alloys from Motor sport wheels. I got them fitted yesterday (3rd April) they look great as soon as I can download the photo from my stupid camera I will post a photo. Of course I kept the original wheels. For anyone who may be interested Motor sport are great, I went to the Sidcup branch, they could not have been more helpful and at £450 fully fitted I think they were very well priced.
  8. Glad to hear you have bought an SC, I have only owned mine since Aug 2013. I bought it with a Lexus full service history, even got the original purchase invoice and every bit a paper work for everything, so I have continued to have it serviced by Lexus, it seemed a shame to break the chain, ( got to help when it comes to selling it). I have a Lexus service agreement that costs £37 per month. I hope you will agree they are fantastic to drive. John
  9. Glad to see another new member, you won't find a better car to drive, I have only owned mine since August 2013 and I love it. John
  10. Thanks for the photo's, your alloys look in lovely condition although they are not what I am looking for. I am looking for multi spoke. But thanks again for your interest.
  11. Hi It would be great if you could post some pics please. Thanks John
  12. Thanks for the post, I have already disabled the TPS as the tyres are new and not run flats. I also think the Fox alloys look good too. Thanks John
  13. Thank you very much the alloys look great. Thanks John
  14. Hi out there. Has anyone changed their alloys for their SC430. I am looking for a multi spoke silver set of alloys. I have tried the Lexus dealers with very little interest from them. I have also looked online and most of the alloys are from the US, not sure I want to deal with them especially if I need to return them. I look forward to hearing from anyone that has been successful in finding some.
  15. starting anew thread

  16. Please can anyone tell me where is the best place to get alloys for my sc430. I have looked on the internet and found some beauties but they are all American sites, not sure if I want to deal with them in case of having to return them. Thanks John
  17. I only said I blamed the wife, I didn't exactly say she did it. I afraid I have to fes up cos I did put my new tyre repair kit in the boot a couple of days ago.
  18. Thanks for the suggestions, I had to get RAC to start it today, he checked the battery and said it was fine. But, I am ashamed to say that when I opened the garage he noticed straight away that the boot was open. I blamed the wife!!!!
  19. Hi Paul Do you think this would drain the battery as it is flat again today. regards John
  20. Thanks I will have a look, the previous owner had a hands free set installed which I do not use.
  21. I have recently become the proud owner of a SC430 (my first Lexus) Please cam anyone help! Each time I start the car there is a single beep. I have checked the lights, seatbelts are secured. It only happens as I start to pull away and is not as far as I can see accompanied by any light display. Does anyone know what it is please.
  22. Thanks for the reply I think you are are right, so I shall go to Halfords or Amazon.
  23. I am a very new member ( 5 minutes ago) and was hoping someone can help. I have recently bought a Lexus SC430 2001 ( my first ever Lexus) and following a service by Lexus Battersea I was informed that the tyre sealant bottle from the kit is out of date. Can anybody tell me where I may get a replacement. I have tried Sewells and although they do have a kit the bottle is not shown so not sure if it will be compatible with the pump that is fitted in the car. If not what do you other owners use as a repair kit. Thanks
