  1. Just checked with my dealer and they still don't have a solution. Lexus isn't listening, obviously :((
  2. I thought somewhere back in the thread that someone in the UK had a car for a test drive, noticed the vibrations and decided not to buy. Could also have been outside of the UK. Maybe it only affects left-hand drives?
  3. Hi Ross, Do you have several contact lists? I have had a similar experience with my Nexus5. Mine only shows a limited number and they are all from my SIM card, not my Outlook or Google contacts. The problem I have - if you could call it a problem - is that Nexus will only use one set of contacts to transfer to the handsfree kit and I think it's those under the "People" app. If you check the "Contacts to display" or the "Accounts" options you may be on the right road. My Lexus read in over 1200 numbers but from all the accounts so there were so many duplicates I got so frustrated that I only use my SIM account now. There is an app called Merge+ that will help weed out the duplicates but be careful it doesn't remove you better halve's number as it did with mine!
  4. Sorry to hear that Tore. And especially sorry about the dent in the door. Hope they give you a decent loaner while it's in, and not their F-Sport! It's encouraging to hear that your dealer is interested in getting to the root of the problem, something that is clearly lacking with my dealer in Brussels. So please keep us updated. I would be inclined to think that the problem may be the ECU - if they could tweak that to keep the CVT in a lower "gear" (or whatever it's supposed to be in a CVT) until it's past about 1350rpm. But that's just the impression I get from my car. Good luck and thanks for the feedback - it's good to know somebody in Lexus gives a damn, and it's probably your mechanic that will get to the root of it!
  5. Hi Tore, Thanks, that sounds like music to my tired ears! My 30,000km service is coming up and if that's the solution I can get my dealer to do the upgrade at the same time. Please let us know how it goes. John
  6. Robert, You'd probably be wasting your time going back to Nottingham; I doubt they'll be able to fix it. I'm resigned to the fact that any fix anywhere on this car has to come all the way from Japan and that everyone there from the IS300h development team has moved on to screw up another model. The guys at the dealers are - sorry to say - mere button-pushers: the IS300h is for system administrators and not mechanics or technicians. I've been quietly but fumingly awaiting the fix for my CVT resonance problem for the best part of 6 months and don't expect the solution any time soon. The IS300's amnesia with contacts both amuses and frustrates me: I've been through all the versions since August last year and how Lexus can't fix this simple little gremlin is beyond all comprehension. But that's the very least of my worries: being sent twice of thrice around roundabouts by the satnav, or off on wild-goose chases is witness of a software that just cannot be trusted - so what about the safety systems of the car that also rely on software? If you want to know the extent Lexus Europe goes to for customer satisfaction and brand quality, just read the reply from their PR to my complaint under the "potential manufacturing defect" topic. My first and certainly my very last Lexus. It's back to the Germans for me!
  7. Wish I had the choice :( Good luck, and maybe we'll meet some day on the A5 Owner's Club Forum !!!
  8. I'd be interested to know how you get on, elmsfieldbob. My email to Lexus Europe didn't bring about any meaningful results (see Potential Manufacturing Defect). I think the only way to get heard is that everyone in the club who has an issue let their voice be heard in a joint letter telling them very clearly about how crappy certain points of the car are - especially an infotainment / satnav system that would do a Dacia injustice. (I'm actually convinced Lexus never even reads the forum!) ;)
  9. Yes, Jeroen, I am in Belgium. I'd be thrilled if you could help recording the sound. It's quite definitely an issue with the CVT at 1300rpm as I have it with summer and winter tyres and it's definitely more noticeable on asphalt because of the smooth surface. In any case I'd be happy to have a second opinion because Lexus Brussels seem to consider me as some kind of jerk for complaining about it - perhaps it really is in my mind!
  10. Well, Jeroen, Lexus has been very, very quiet. I have tried to record the phenomenen on my GoPro but it doesn't pick it up as it's probably out of the frequency range, or because it a resonance; I'll try something else in the next week or later, but it is definitely there. I don't know if any of the other members with the issue tried to contact Lexus Europe directly, but if they didn't it probably won't get much attention. I'll give Lexus another month before bothering them again. Very few other owners seem to have the problem, so the chance is small that you will end up with it, so don't let it hold your decision back. If you like to drive a quiet, refined car (well, quiet when you're not doing 90kph as in my case), it's definitely the one for you. If you want something that will outperform a BMW320 or Audi A4 then forget it. Fuel efficiency will be 6.5l/100km and it'll be blowing out 150+ g CO2 per km, and never 99 as Lexus misleads us in its ads. If you don't want to be in just another German sport sedan among the thousands on the motorway every morning, go on: buy a Lexus. Or why not a Jaguar?
  11. Well guys... Bad news to me but I'll let you judge for yourselves. Here's what Mr. Olivier Allart, Customer Relations Manager of Lexus Europe (olivier.allart@toyota.be) has to say: We refer to your contacts with us regarding your brand new Lexus IS300h. We’ve taken full note of your observations concerning the transmission of your car. Further to your request, we’ve been in contact with your dealer and our technical department, that confirms having been informed about the phenomenon you’ve described. As previously mentioned, this little vibration can’t be considered as abnormal. Anyway, your case has been reported to Lexus Europe and Toyota Motor Corporation for information. Should we receive any technical feedback from their side, would we directly inform our dealer network. In the waiting time, we remain at your disposal for any further information. So guys, it basically a little vibration and it's perfectly normal to expect this in a luxury car from Lexus for which you've probably forked up a quite a few years' worth of savings. Mind you, if it is normal then why are we the only ones with it - are the rest of the members deaf or what? I replied to Mr Allart telling him that, in my 35 years of driving experience, I do not consider it normal, and invited him to come for a ride in the car to see for himself. Mr. Allart still hasn't taken me up on the offer but I can understand he's a very busy man, so I guess I'll record it for him and post it on YouTube so he can see it from the comfort of his office - along with everybody else.
  12. I contacted Lexus Europe 2 weeks ago through their website and the following day got a call from a nice lady at Toyota UK who seemed to show true concern for the problem. However, when she heard I was not in the UK she told me she couldn't help me but would refer it back to Lexus Europe. To date no reply. In the meantime the problem seems to be getting worse and I'm really fed up. I've sent them another mail and would like to encourage everyone with the same problem to do likewise on www.lexus.eu at 'Contact us'. Here's what I wrote until I hit the word limit: Transmission defect on IS300h model. Dear Sir or Madam, Two weeks ago I wrote to you about the transmission defect of my Lexus IS300h. I have not received a reply (my request was handed over to Toyota UK who told me that they could not help because I am not in the UK). I also informed you (Lexus) that I was not the only customer suffering from this defect, and that there are several more customers worldwide with the problem. My dealer had escalated the problem but to date has not received a reply (to my knowledge). The problem (resonance at 1300rpm) appears between 80 - 100km/h, is highly irritating and could be damaging in the long run - I notice the problem getting worse. I now have a luxury car which I paid more than 50,000 Euro for, and which I cannot drive at normal speed without an irritating vibration. I await your prompt reply and with a concrete proposal as to how Lexus will solve this issue for me any all other drivers experiencing the same problem. John Pollard
  13. Ian, the turn-by-turn disappeared from my dash a long time ago in the A-version software but miraculaously returned with the C-version update. I thought I had done something in the navigation settings which got a reset with the update.
  14. DJP, I've 17,000km on the clock and can confirm it occurs in all modes: Eco, Normal and Sport. So, if you haven't noticed it then you most likely don't have a lemon. If you would like to check, this should work (you might want to set your measurements to km): on a relatively flat - or very slight uphill - smooth road, when in D take the car up to about 80-85km then ease off - you should be at about 1300rpm. Slowly accelerate and you'll hear a slight rumble from the transmission; ease back to where the rumble was and stay at that speed, then the resonance occurs. Now, let it resonate for a while and then paddle down a gear and it disappears. Of course, I hope the above bears no result! John, Maybe you could improve on this "how to" so other members can check their cars. We could put it under a new topic.
  15. Hi Adrian, I don't know it's on ALL the cars, just the unfortunate ones - I posted this problem last year and there hadn't been much reaction until now, so I guess most members don't have it. If you want to buy an IS300h and think you'll be doing a lot of driving at between 80 - 100km/h I'd recommend you make darn sure you have a written guarantee from your dealer that he'll replace it immediately if this phenomenon appears.
  16. Hi John and Jimmy, Welcome to the club! John, many thanks for that clear explanation of the problem; do you think Lexus engineers or marketing people actually visit this site - I know my dealer doesn't! So far we're considering a letter to Lexus Europe, and the more people I have with the problem, the better they will hear us, I suppose. We've got two forums going at the moment for the same problem, would it be better to move everything under one roof - any suggestions?
  17. I left a Saab 9-3 TiD 150hp automatic for this car. The Saab was a real beauty to drive - in my opinion it beat the IS300h on anything related to performance and drive train. Just wish I could have my Saab back!
  18. Sylvain, Don't take that for an answer! There's no such thing as a normal noise if, Lexuses shouldn't be making noises. And what about the vibrations - are you having them too? In my case, Lexus Brussels confirmed it is a problem and they have forwarded it to Lexus Europe - I'm sure your car has the same issue as mine. I admit being a bit hard on them, but Lexus Brussels is taking it seriously, and so should your dealer. They actually said it could be regarded as a teething problem that happen with new models and are working on it - not that it is any way reassuring to me! Dominik, I fully agree with you that we write to Lexus EU, but would it help if your dealer first confirmed the vibrations, as mine did? I suggest we first run it by the moderator of the forum, then I would be happy to carry it further. I would then want to hear from everybody with the problem.
  19. Any news? I just called my dealer for an update on the defect and the answer was that they haven't received an answer to the problem. I asked how many more customers complained of the problem and I was the only one they knew of, apparently. So, if we want to have our voices heard, I think it's best we all go to the dealers and ensure the problem get due priority.
  20. Thanks Sylvain, it will be great to know if you have an immediate response; that way we know they are aware of the situation. I'll be calling by dealer on Wednesday - that means he had a week to get a status on the defect from Lexus Europe. Fingers crossed!
  21. Argento, You might also want to closely follow up the topic on "Potential manufacturing defect" before considering an IS300h. This is an issue I would consider far worse than bluetooth not working for 100%; some of us can't drive at 1300rpm without the transmission threatening the rattle the car apart. Thinking of all the Toyota's they've recalled a few weeks ago makes me wonder if we all won't be bringing back our IS's! On a brighter note, I've replaced my Nokia 700 with a Nexus 5 and it works very well - far better than the former. Must agree, though, that the automatic read out of text messages can be embarrassing!
  22. Carl, I tried this but it didn't work; could I be doing something wrong or would they have locked it on my car? By the menu button, you do mean the one right in front of the 'mouse'?
  23. No reply yet, though they promised to get back to me by Friday (yesterday). I'll give them a few more days and if by then there's no joy, I'll start looking for somebody in Lexus Europe that can handle the issue. My biggest concern is that the vibrations - which seem to have worsened - cause serious damage. The lip service that Lexus has given so far is highly disappointing.
  24. Is this something you have to pay for or do they do it for free?
