  1. Btw, very unlikely the lights in "AUTO" mode would make any difference to drainage with the ignition off.
  2. I installed an isolator on mine. The alarm doesn't trigger. When reconnected, it's good to go without needing any codes for the stereo etc. It's the simplest solution.
  3. I have a 1966 mercedes with air suspension. Truly advanced for it's era. It goes round corners like a boat in hurricane winds. Nearly as bad as the Lexus lol.
  4. The sc430 replaced my Z4MC and it feels like a boat compared to the MC. But I do respect the sc for what it is, effortless luxury. Really doubt there would be a big difference from the mk1 or mk2 SC tbh, compared to what I was used to. I have the 6 speed on my 2011 is250, and having the 5 speed sc really isn't a hardship. A low mileage car is going to generally feel "newish" compared to a high miler. Would easily be worth 3/4k more than a high miler, especially when you take into account the cost of the car when new.
  5. It's a shame no one is prepared to pay good money for these cars. With that mileage, at £13k I don't think it would be a bad buy. But I'm also a silver person.
  6. Where's lexusman :) Here's one. 2005 6 speed. I'd be tempted to take a look if it wasn't so far from me. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/lexus/sc/lexus-sc-430-------------------2005/2128985
  7. Ok. Light came on this morning. Eventually figured out how to disable it so disconnected the wires under the radio. Then reconnected as I figured I should have checked the tyre pressure first. Lesson learnt. Never assume the worst. Is there a slap-head icon.
  8. I recently installed a grom unit to mine for bluetooth streaming. Really happy with it. But I stumbled across this link. Really tempted as you don't need to cut into the factory loom, but I think I'd rather keep it stock. http://m.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=635693
  9. Here is another one alphacat. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/111277441157?cmd=VIDESC 55 plate with the later wheels so I would presume 6 speed although no mention. Mileage too high for my liking. But would be the lower tax band. The tax band system is a bit unfair. I'm holding out for a 2010. The neighbour has a 2009. :)
  10. I'm also with AF insurance for the Lexus and classic merc but I'll be shopping around on renewal. I find their admin fees annoying and premiums not particularly competitive. My classic porsche is with Classicline and suggest you give them a try.
  11. Maybe it's reference to the suspension. Soft Cushion.
  12. Not really tempted by this one and I certainly prefer the colour of mine. I'd certainly be tempted by a 2010. It would just feel good owning the last year of the model. Not sure the £200 per year extra road tax really matters in the bigger scheme of things when comparing the running costs ie maintenence and fuel bills. Low mileage is always a bonus to me, even though others might think that's a concern? But agreed, a bit pricey for a 2007.
  13. Looks really nice but is this price steep (£20k) for a 6 speed. I think I would want a 2010 at that price seeing that you'll be paying the higher road tax premium anyway. Still, I suppose they cost a fare amount new. I'm tempted to part-ex already :) http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/271394872616?cmd=VIDESC
  14. Ah the smell of leaking fuel and oil and associated bills. I know it well. lol. (classic merc territory). Your car looks great!! But you need to be corrected. According to Paul it should be "old boy" :)
  15. Thanks thelexusman. Credit to its previous one and only owner. She's certainly been garaged from new. It feels like I have a bit of a resposibilty to keep her in the same condition. Are our cars a she or a he?
  16. I've also had the star caps refurbed but the new dinner plates have been fitted as I think they look cool. It was like picking up a new car. Really pleased.
  17. I think you made the right choice. They're quite special and I'm normally a Mercedes fan.
  18. That is interesting... but I cant see why it took 2 hours. Just take a fuse out or cut a wire !!Like Supabil, I also would have wanted that pile of mess removed completely from my car. Those of us who live with cars that only have occasional use, battery drainage is a fact of life I'm afraid. 2-3 weeks is about the norm for any high end car. I dislike trickle chargers and my preferred choice is battery isolators.
