  1. 65 is what I thought it should be.

There is conservative and then there is this though.  Even taking 10ltrs out for a reserve, range should be over 430miles when full. Quick calc says when range  was at just over 100miles earlier, it had over 7 gallon left.

The rate of change of range as the tank comes down is consistent, doesn’t change at all, I had zeroed the trip counter.  Suspect a software update will come to correct it a bit later. Hopefully.

  2. Is it 55ltr or 65ltr?  Brochures and documentation seems to mix and match, sometimes quotes one then the other.

My car shows range of 369miles for a full tank. I’ve not run it right down yet, but having brimmed it with just 30 odd litres twice, when the gauge shows between 1/4 and 1/2 left, I reckon there must be 30ish litres left in it. Range shows 100m, but at 37mpg (seems to be what it’s doing tank to tank fill), there would be nearly 250m left?!?

  3. I collected mine at the weekend ex dealer demo registered Jan 31, and only one proper key and a blade. I wasn’t given an eta on the 2nd one but they said possibly June maybe July.

Also no locking wheel bolts, also on back order. No remote parking or send to car nav from app, no idea when that’s coming, though options are there in the car.

Book pack/Manual in the car is for the RX4 version too…..  Less than ideal.

    Congrats for the new car!

How do you find the engine in comparison to  the V6 ?

I wasn't a previous owner of a RX450, but I did have a test drive a while ago now.  My view is the RX500h is a different beast, it has a 6spd auto, not a CVT (though its so smooth and quiet its not very obvious), the car is so very quiet old/new that its not like the old V6 was a sonorous engine especially combined with the CVT.   The new one has artificial sound in the cabin which you can turn on/up/off which is not offensive, but isn't a great sound.  Performance wise its plenty quick both off the line and in gear, the gearbox is also quick to shift up and down, under kickdown too and the electric motors combine to torque fill any gaps.   Economy is same/better too.   Most owners wouldn't know the difference if they weren't told I suspect....

  5. Hello all, have been away from the brand for last 4 years since my previous couple of IS300h’s, but returned this weekend having purchased a  RX500h Fsport model. Can’t see a lot of commentary in here on the new RX’s, but it sure is a different beast to the previous RX450 models. Personally I think for the better overall.

It’s a definitely more handsome car from most angles, quality is still right up there too, but IMO a step forward in ride/handling with this version, surprised how well it combines supple ride with sporty characteristics, less boat like than the previous version and nimble too.

Pleasantly surprised on the mpg too having seen many comments online about it. Have just returned from a 60mile A/B road mix and it’s saying 36mpg, pretty happy with that.

    Any other RX5 FSport owners?

  6. I’ve watched quite a few of the YouTube American reviews of the new NX now, interestingly, not one NX450h+ model has a pano roof or ML stereo. Both options only on the non plug in models.  Maybe the Lexus Uk spec list isn’t as wrong as we thought…..

This guy does a full vid on the ML stereo in the new NX

     and also the std stereo

The haptic buttons on the steering wheel look horrendously complicated and very easy to brush inadvertently. This review sums up the shortcomings of the new infotainment very well at the end.

  7. Now is currently a poor time to buy a car. New ones have lower discounts and lack of availability, used are at top money due to lack of availability. Global Chip shortage and COVID factors. It is a great time to sell a car though!

The UX featured doesn’t seem too bad to me,  though I’m not sure who would buy a £30k car on pcp finance over 24 mths, ( not me) there are better cars or better ways to buy. A new one would be more costly on the same term per month. This used one is £10k saving on a new one, so if thats what you want, why not? If you need a UX and you have £800/mth with nothing to do with it but no capital to put down a deposit then who is anyone to say that is wrong. Possibly unwise though.

Any way you look at it, a car is nearly never a good financial investment,  it depends on your viewpoint and requirements, any car can be justified one way or the other.

  8. yep, exactly that.  £4500 extra for a 450h+ FSport Takumi with sunroof, compared to a 450h+ FSport Premium plus without.  The only extra's I can see for UK are a Digital rear mirror, Front Cross traffic alert, Lane Change Assist and Automated Parking, plus the sunroof of course.   All of which I can do without and in no way adds up to £4.5k!  Its like they've forgotten the ML stereo apparently isn't included, or is it???  Even then,  in the past the Takumi pack has given way more for the money.

Its less of a jump FSport Premium Plus to actual Takumi model (£3k),  but you can only have Adaptive suspension on the FSport........

  9. I'm another previous Lexus owner (2 x IS300h) who moved away as I didn't get on with the old NX or RX,  but was looking forward to possibly having a new NX450+h model.  However, the spec is making me have 2nd thoughts.

My prime spec old NX was a FSport Takumi pack with Pano roof.  I can kind of get why the pano roof wouldn't come with the plug-in model as it will add a lot of weight to a car with the extra large Battery pack,  but that doesn't bode well overall for handling, and economy if that is the case, as it would indicate the 450 is already a heavy car, probably 2T at least.

The ML stereo option being missed off the 450h model I can also kind of understand, as I imagine some of the places that the ML stereo uses to house the gubbins for it (sub woofer, amp etc)  may be taken up with plugin hybrid bits and cables/batteries etc.  Especially given that the boot space and fuel tank capacity is the same for both models.  But, the pricelist doesn't seem to reflect that, with the Takumi pack adding ££££'s to the car but only really giving a couple of extra features.

As has been said,  seems there is so many mistakes and confusion in the current brochure, I'll wait off for the actual demo's to arrive before seeing if I will come back.   The RFT's on the new NX as well make me shiver, as they have historically been the source of a harsher ride and increased noise, which again makes me want to do a thorough, extended test drive first.

On the up side - at least the seats are actually leather unlike the ES, and I do really like the overall design and interior styling, including that huge 14" touchscreen!  Pricing is on the high end of what I thought it would be, but seemingly par for the course nowadays.

Does anyone know if the F-sport models have them as standard or not ? I remember the IS200 Sport and IS300 (2st gen) had them and possibly the IS250 Sport, a spec that kind of got superseded by the F-sport then strangely enough the Sport trim was resurrected on the 3rd gen IS

Uk Spec FSports are mechanically identical to normal models,  just minor suspension/damper differences.

He didn't say but I got the impression that it would be a free update subject to car compatibility.

Probably only on newer models/cars but not sure.

This is encouraging and is similar to the way Alfa Romeo has handled Guilia/Stelvio upgrades.  They released a newer hardware build at or just after the MY19 release of the cars, but the software followed later and in some cases was a dealer retro-fit free of charge.  However, there is a specific chassis VIN and hardware firmware version that is needed for the software upgrade to work, as these cars have the hardware which acts as the licence key for the software.  The hacker community in the East of Europe has perfected a mod to earliercars, but it involves having to retrofit a modified USB hub into the car, amend the software and firmware of the infotainment and set a code in the dealer computer against the VIN to show it was allowed.  All not particularly easy to do and of course you needed a friendly dealer to do it!

  12. Highly unlikely to be a simple software upgrade to enable this.  I believe apple require a hardware key of some sort to be installed in the technology which serves as the licence for the solution. I can’t see this being a retrofit by dealers. More likely an upgraded infotainment package rolled out across models at facelift/update points.

We've come to the same decision.  Don't want another IS.  Looks like the UX will be too small,  tested an NX and that was underpowered so that the engine was always "screaming".  INHO.  Also think they have missed the boat by not going for an all electric car, now that we have been bitted by the bug.

I'm exactly the same, 2 IS's, UX too small, didn't like the ES or NX drive, rest too expensive. I think it is still a few years till the EV range develops enough, the charging issues are improved and the early adopters iron out the teething troubles.  Polestar2 and Tesla Model 3 could be future ones for me.

As a result, for now I've gone left field and I've bought an Alfa Romeo......:w00t:

What did the likes of we buy anycar quote as that is the price you would likely get at trade in

WBAC was lowest, by a country mile.  Pretty derisory offer really.  I had no intention of using it, but it gave an indication.  To be fair though, all the dealers offered more than WBAC.  I also had searched what Lexus dealers were displaying as sticker prices for similar age/mileage cars as approved used cars, so you have an idea what kind of margin is in it for them. They need to make a profit, but some were extracting the michael somewhat. As I said pays to shop around.
