  1. Hello,

I noticed that the metal part that holds the windscreen wiper to my back windscreen is rusting. We live one street away from the Irish Sea so rust is a big issue/problem for us.

Was wondering what is the best way to fix this? Is it possible to replace it or if it needs cleaning and repainting is it better to do it in while it's still on the car or to remove it? Are there any Youtube videos that anyone knows of that goes through this?

    Thanks,

    Dave J

  2. So my mechanic suggested trying this. Had it in the system for about 2 weeks and nothing improved. Rang him on over the weekend and he said there was some other stuff he used previous that worked. Went round Monday and he removed some of the hydraulic oil and put this Lucas powered steering treatment additive.

Must admit as the first on didn't work I was cynical. Spent 5 minutes turning the wheel left to right etc. It's perfect like new 👍

  3. Driving home yesterday and tried to close my sunroof. The glass roof came right to the front and as soon as it touched the spring loaded mechanism at the front and it completely opened again.

    Also:

    1. Tried this and and I couldn't get it to reset as it did in the video.
    2. When opening the sunroof it seems to not go right back, Clicking the button for a 2nd will move it right back.
    3. If I move the sunroof forwards incrementally it will close. The issue is when you hold the button forwards.

So this did work for me, only difference is the sunroof needed to be tilted up before holding the tilt button in 👍

  4. Hello,

Hope everyone had a good Christmas and all the very best for 2022.

Got some sad news a few weeks ago in that I got my 2003 Lexus GS 300 serviced and due to living very close to the Irish sea my mechanic informed me that the body work was starting to get to a state that without spending a lot of money on an old car I might want to think about getting another car. I feel a bit daft but I moved to the coast nearly six years ago and although I knew the sea water damaged metal I underestimated just how aggressive it can be. If I had done more, like undersealing it and waxing it more often I would have got more out of the old girl. That said, nearly 8 years of trouble free motoring and only a timing belt and exhaust apart from wear and tear. Naturally I'm now a Lexus addict.

So I bought my next Lexus today. A 2007 RX 350, 70,000 miles 99% service history. She's a beauty. Already spoke to my mechanic who will give it the once over 1st thing in the new year, he recommended Wax Oil but said to wait till the weather is warmer as the Wax Oil applies better in the warm and dry.

Anyway I've got 2 lovely but very hairy Border Collies and with the GS 300 always had a hammock for them over the back seats and my best bet. Wanted to put boot bars in for them so they can go in the boot. Been advised by a friend to try and find Lexus ones if possible as the generic ones are a bit of a pain. So wondered if anyone here has any they would recommend or possibly have some they want to sell?

P.S. If anyone has any advice on selling my old Lexus it would also be appreciated.

    Thanks, Dave.

  5. Hi,

My Lexus GS 300 has its engine light stuck on. Was told it might be an issue with fuel I got from Morrisons supermarket. But 2 tanks later it is still on. The only thing that has changed recently is the Battery went flat and I bought a new one from Halfords. The car runs perfectly ok.

Tried this: https://www.lexusofatlanticcity.com/blog/how-do-i-reset-the-maintenance-449910 but no luck.

    Thanks,
