Hi, Sorry for the sloooow reply. Had to leave the car on my drive for a couple of months as my money was already spoken for on other things. Working from home it was not much of a problem though. Ended up using this place: https://customautofabrications.co.uk who are at the south end of Blackpool about 39 minutes from where I live. They made a stainless steel exhause from scratch for £650. Looks and sounds the part. So thanks to your advice I'm sorted :)

Hi, My main ignition key casing is splitting. Bought a cheap replacement but hasn't lasted long. Asked Timpson's to cut the key to the new case but they refused to take the casing and insisted I pay them to provide the casing for over £200. Couldn't find many other places nearby that cut this key. Any suggestions? Thanks, Dave.

Hi, Just got back from work, went to turn the car off and when i tried to take the key out of the ignition it broke into pieces. Thing is I can't get it out of the ignition it turns as far as the 2nd to last position ACC and won't go any further. I tried putting the fob next to it whilst doing this but it makes no difference and it also won't start. I have a spare key so if I could mange to get this out I could use the spare and order a new casing then I should be alright. Please help if you can :( Thanks, Dave.

Followed the excellent instructions here http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/topic/2933-gs300-sub-replacement/ and the foam on the cone is splitting on the outside edge is 2 places. I'll order this kit http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2000-2005-Lexus-GS300-Subwoofer-Speaker-Foam-Surround-Repair-Kit-86160-0W210-/141308048334?pt=US_Speaker_Parts_Components&hash=item20e69db3ce. In the mean time I might trying putting a little glue over the cracks to see if that stops the rattling.

I've got a pad similar to this for getting marks off the windscreen I could use it with toothpaste. Giving my car minty freshness at the same time :)

Hi, The subwoofer has developed a rattling noise. I haven't had time yet to remove it, all noticed was whilst playing music touching the under side of the speaker cone on the right hand side seems to stop the noise. I know not very scientific. I'm guessing I will need to remove the speaker and fully inspect it. Seen a few posts of how to do this so it should be ok. Saying it is the cone would something like this be a good idea http://www.simplyspeakers.com/lexus-mark-levinson-speaker-foam-edge-repair-kit-fsk-10m.html? Thanks Dave.

So Phil would you recommend toothpaste or is the kit you bought any better considering the difference in cost?

Hi Allan, Personally I'm not qualified to say one way or the other. I'm getting my mechanic friend to inspect it and by removing this cover. But if honesty I would say it will be replaced to be on the safe side. Just out of interest how much will one be? I saw these are they suitable? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/360147257878?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=108&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108&ff19=0

Just a quickie the new aerial mast came today. The old one had snapped a piece off inside so I took it apart and remove the piece, reinstated the aerial base and put the new mast in. Switched the ignition on and boom works perfect. Thanks for you advice on this thread and the other ones :)

Hi, Just replaced one of the 2 bayonet bulbs in the roof of my Lexus, I think they are referred to as courtesy lights. I put a 12 volt 5 watt one in as it was the only one Halfords sold that shape and size. But looking at the one taken out it is 12 volt 8 watt. Does anyone know where I can buy these from as looking on the internet I didn't find much up to now? Would I be better off with LED lights? Thanks, Dave.

Spot on! 1. I have a good friend who is a qualified mechanic I'll pass the information about the timing belt onto him and let him do what is necessary. 2. I'll inspect the aerial and see what I can find. Found a Youtube video on getting it off the car so I have a good idea of how to. 3. I'll stick to Tom Tom 4. Toothpaste for my headlamps it is BTW I got one of these for my Lexus http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00007EDLW it came today proper bargain. Contemplating http://www.justconnectme.co.uk/justdrive-digital-radio-dab-car-adaptor but it is a more expensive option so it will have to wait. Thanks for taking time to answer my questions :)

Hi, This is my first post on here. I became a Lexus owner over the weekend. Wow, that's all there is to say really. It's a GS300 in 53 plate, 77,000 miles. Paid £3000 for it and I'm made up. I giggle everywhere I drive my Lexus is simply the bee's patellas. Got some questions I would like to ask if that is ok. If I have to post them individually so say and I will. 1. Normally the mileage for a timing belt needing changing for most cars is roughly 60,000 -70,000 miles. The Lexus book my car came with says 100,000 miles would this be correct? 2. My aerial is stuck up but I can hear the motor working. Should I be looking to fix it rather than replace it? (Been told sometimes they just need greasing) 3. Is there much point in buying an update for the Sat Nav maps? (Already have a new Tom Tom which can work by post code which the Lexus navigation seems to not which given its age is not surprising at all) 4. The front headlamps seam quite cloudy, not sure if this is inside or out or both, is there any way of removing this? Thanks, Dave.
