Have just stripped the turbo timer and disc changer out of the car.

While i was playing with all the wires behind the headunit, i found a small black ariel type thing.

I followed the cable and it went under the passenger seat and into this small box. The reason i removed it was because there was a power switch connected to it which was just flapping around and not sitting in anything. Flicking the switch didnt seem to do anything either.

Anyway i pulled all of this out and everything in the car still seems to operate as normal including the radio and the subwoofer/amp.

    Any ideas people?

  2. Hi guys

Anyone know if there is a way to disable the reversing beep without disconnecting the little speaker?

I know on the Avensis for example there is a way of getting the seatbelt beep to stop by pressing buttons in a specific order etc

    cheers

  3. Over at TOC we believe thats the new Soarer :)

    why -

1 - Its using V8's, Supras have always been straight 6 engines.

2 - Its available as hardtop and convertible just like soarers have been and there has never been a convertible supra

3 - The current soarer is coming to the end of its life.

4 - Toyota has ditched th Supra name

Im very keen on getting one though when they come out whatever they call it, but would have to be the more powerful model of course with a hard top

    ;)

  4. Not 3s but 9s, Engine block shows - JZS147-VIN#, (next line) - 2JZ-9S-GTE, noticed this when the removing bits to be able to get to the TT's

Hummmm interesting :) I wonder why they chose to write 9sgte on the side. I heard the 2jz block is based on the 3sgte so perhaps 9sgte was the codename they gave it...

Good find that, i never knew they had that stamped on them ;)

  5. btw Norkep, just noticed your siggy. The aristo has the 2jzgte and the celica gt4 has the 3sgte :winky:

Yep - 3sgte, not 9sgte, engine block shows these marking under the block number, it's the mould in which the block was done in

You have a 2jzgte with 3sgte written on it?

  6. I'd never turn off the traction control on the aristo :) Too much car and scares me to imagine going sideways in it.

Although i also have my Lotus Esprit Turbo which doesnt have anything at all, doesnt even have an ECU being a Carb version so no ABS, no Power Steering, no Traction Control.

Its just you, the car and the road. Scary thing to push hard but respect it and it respects you.

I have also had many Supra's and Celica's.

All my celica's had no traction control etc, one of them (rip) didnt have ABS either.

The few times i lost the back end out on the supras wasnt too bad, even my 400+bhp one was easy enough to bring back into line.

I'd say it all depends on how used you are to having the car do the work for you and also what type of car it is.

I think they are a good thing to have as it could save your life one day, although i agree such things do take away a lot of the enjoyment/feeling of a car :)

  7. insurance puts people of buying the TT model

Sorry to go slightly off topic...I found it quite reasonable to insure, Elephant have already told me my next years premium is only going to be £450 and im only 23. Not like a Soarer or skyline where the cheapest quote i could get was £1200 :duh:

btw Norkep, just noticed your siggy. The aristo has the 2jzgte and the celica gt4 has the 3sgte :winky:

  8. You can however have more than one vehicle on the same policy provided you are the registered keeper of all of them, this is what Leeky has I think. They add up the premiums for all the vehicles then take off the NCD. I have 3 motorbikes on one policy.

What i did was call Lancaster and insured one vehicle as a classic/cherished. They gave me a quote on it based on the NCB i had at the time but they also told me they wont be using my NCB on this vehicle so i am free to use the bonuses on another vehicle.

So i got to insure both as though they both had my NCB :D

  9. porterfield pads are very good indeed, and id go with the TRD discs

Excellent Stuff! If you say Porterfield then i'll go Porterfield

Would love the TRD Discs but they are bloomin expensive and i've had them before....took frickin ages for Fensport to get them and i 'd be very surprised if they managed to get them in time for the ring. Plus i can get the 3g 20 grooved discs for half of the cost of the TRD ones which come with 5 grooves.

I'll probabaly go for the Porterfield pads with the 3G Discs :) Cheers!

  10. Hey guys

Clock is ticking for me to get the Aristo 'Ring' ready

I've been offered Mintex pads and discs from Dave at Prolex, 3G GR20 Discs and Porterfield Pads from Paul at Whifbitz and TRD Discs and Pads from Tony at Fensport.

Wont reveal the prices as i have arranged a deal on some of them.

But does anyone have an opinion on these brakes or know of any that they would recommend?

My Aristo is being worked on at the mo but will be approx 350-400bhp for the Nurburgring so the standard toyota discs and pads are going to give up at that power.

    Cheers

    ^_^
