  1. Just incase this is of interest to anyone. I have found these local to me. http://www.toyotec.co.uk/ http://www.albinbmotors.co.uk/ http://www.jemlexus.co.uk/ http://www.japexperformance.co.uk./ Regards Mal.
  2. Hi guys, any mk3 owners out there that have had a gearbox service carried out. Also any out there that have just left it well alone. Your thoughts on this please. My car is on 78k and I'm considering a gb service. Regards Mal.
  3. Thanks again for your replies. It has fLsh and from what I can see the oxygen sensors have never been changed. I'll have a loo in to the maf too. Thanks.
  4. Thanks for your reply guys. It's just been serviced by Lexus hatfield and they said the brakes were fine. I will check again but there doesn't seem to be any heat being emitted from the wheels. Is there anything else I could look at. Tyres are at 34psi all round.
  5. Hi guys, just a quick question for any mk3 gs300 owners out there. My mpg seems a little low. the car is showing between 13 and 14mpg average on the computer. This is all town driving with a light foot. The car has 77k on the clock flsh and has literally just been serviced about 50 miles ago. Is this normal mpg. From what i heard it should be in the high teens. Thanks in advance Mal.
  6. Thanks Steve i saw that post already but that's for a nk2 gs. I have mk3 2005 onwards which doesn't have a ignition switch.
  7. Hi guys i bought a mk3 gs300 lately. It came with 2 keys. One is working fine but the other had a dead battery. I changed the battery yesterday and it doesn't seem to work at all. It won't lock/unlock the doors remotely so I opened the door with the key itself which set the alarm off. I put the key next to the start button and tried putting the ignition on but again nothing. A mesage came up saying key not detected. I have been assured this one of the original keys for the car. The battery was dead for some months the last owner said. Is there a fix for this. Regards Mal.
  8. Hi guys I know absolutly jack about tyres. I've been on the net all day looking and I'm back to square one. I'm after a pair of 225/50/17 for my GS300 mk3. Would like them to have low road noise and be quite hard wearing. If anyone could recommend me a tyre i would be most greatful. Regards Mal.
  9. Thanks the size is 225/50/17. I just have to find a set of decent tyres at a decent price. I do 95% town driving so would want them to be hard wearing and silent. I'll have a look at the vredestein you mentioned. If anyone esle has any thoughts on this i would be greatful. Regards Mal.
  10. Hi guys Could anyone please advise if these tyres are any good. I know absolutly nothing about tyres and theses have been recommended to me. they are to go on my GS300 mk3 that's sitting on 17's. Also if some could tell me the appropriate tyre size or best tyre size to go for. 225/235/245/255. Thanks in advance.
  11. Thanks. It going to lexus today for a service so I'll find out if it's just the discs and pads or the calipers aswell.
  12. Hi guys, is there a lexus specialist in Bedfordshire. I'm in Luton and my nearest dealership is Hatfield. Thanks.
  13. Hi guys, just a quick question. I've recently purchased a mk3 gs300. It's got 76k on the clock. the front discs and pads where changed by lexus at 66k which was 2 years ago. However the discs have a lip on them which seems quite bad to me and also the brakes are making a creaking noise. I'm thinking the front calipers may have gone as this is a known fault. It's booked in next week at lexus hatfield for a minor service and I'm sure they are going to bring this up. My question is. Shall I have the calipers replaced by lexus or is there a caliper upgrade that i can buy elsewhere that won't mess up again in the near future. I know there are a few refurbs I can get like biggred and also eurocarparts do a pagid. Regards Mal.
  14. Thanks for all your help and advice guys I really appreciate it. I'm going to tax the car today but going to refrain from drivng it if I can until Lexus hatfield pick it up and service it. Which is on Thursday the 8th Jan. I'll then put some pics up. Thanks again :)
  15. I don't think I'm in the wrong forum but thanks for your advice. Even porsche owners discuss fuel economy. There's nothing wrong with having these discussions after all that's what theses forums are for aren't they. looks are a matter of personal preference. I'm sure the IS owners would say the 250 is a better looking car. Lastly I think both engines are great and after driving german for 20+ years I'm gonna see how well the GS treats me. Congrats. on new car and welcome to the forum. Please accept my apologies i did not mean to be rude. It is simply my personal veiw, that fuel economy is completely irrelevant in this class. But still, £90K diesel S class is selling strong :D No need to apologise mate. No offence taken :)

  17. Thanks guys. I've opted for the GS300 over IS250 and picked one up on the weekend as there was no real significance in fuel costs.
  18. Thanks for your reply. When you say short journeys how short do you mean. Mine will be 1 to 2 miles. From what I'm hearing I will be getting high teens very low twenties.
  19. Hi thanks for your reply. Money is tightish so just wanted to see if there is huge difference or not in both cars. It'll also hit the motorway once a week buy I believe there's no real difference extra urban.
  20. Hi guys, I'm new to lexus and looking for a car. I had my heart set on a is250 auto. I am now considering a mk3 gs300 aswell. Could someone please tell me what the difference is in fuel consumption. My commute and other journeys are 1 to 2 miles at a time through the day. So the engine is doing all short journeys and then gets parked up for few hours until the next. I do this a few times a day. Thanks.
