  1. Cheers for the response. Just contacted the seller and the part is not suitable for the 2nd Gen Gs300. They said that Lexus don't do/have discontinued roofbar for this model
  2. Hi all looking some help/info. I am looking to start camping and have realized that it wont all fit in the boot, So started to look at Roof Racks and Tow Bars but none seem to be available. There is a few forum posts from a number of years ago about Tow Bars but seem to be custom made and very expensive. Has anyone come across this and can point me in the right direction? Many Thanks Deet
  3. delete Please, Ordered from Rockauto
  4. Looking for both front Brake Caliper Carrier Brackets for my GS300 03 Regards Dietmar
  5. Thanks for the reply, Got it sorted the other week just did not get the time to reply to my own post. It was the Handbrake cables had seized at the Brake back plate and the Casing had separated. It seems that the alloy had oxidized. A heads up to anyone looking to replace the handbrake cables, Order 91611-G0612 x4 as these bolts sheared off.
  6. Replaced my rear shoes last week as the Parking Brake has never been much use and as you can just put the car in Park was never concerned, But with the MOT due felt that it was about time to sort out. Car failed today on Parking Brake Efficiency 11% instead of 16% I thought that maybe I had adjusted it incorrectly and with me readjusting I got it checked out prior to re-booking MOT. It would have failed again. One thing that I have noticed is that the Parking Brake Pedal is very hard to push to the bottom but goes all the way (It is fine to start with, taking up the slack) and I have had to tighten the adjustment completely up to take up the slack.(seems odd thought that would of been the opposite with new shoes?) What I have done so far:- Replaced Shoes, Cleaning as I go and using Brake grease on the contact points Adjusted at the disc so will not move and back off adjustment 8 notches Adjusted Parking brake Pedal to take up slack Checked the cable equalizer(if that is the correct name, where the front cable joins the two rear cables) My gut feeling is that it is the rear brake cables sticking or maybe the brake drum run-out don't know until i check it tomorrow. Looking a bit of advise or Any insights into common problems with the Parking Brakes Regards Deet
  7. Cheers for the link, Was getting concerned that with doing reading after 15 mins was OK but after doing a reading of driving 1hr+ was showing overfilled. Car is used as Taxi and with doing mainly town driving wondered if oil was overheating/getting too hot. Car shifts good seems to be fine however have noticed lately that on very gental acceleration the rev counter seems to sit at 2k revs as it goes through gears barely dropping as each gear changes. Unsure if that is an early indication that something is wrong.
  8. Going to do a Drain and Fill on my Transmission as i think it has started to slip, I know there is some slippage on a auto box but have just got it in my head and prob due a Drain and Fill (come back to that later) I want to make sure that I have the correct level so that when I do the drain and fill I can just measure what comes out to make it easier to know how much to put back in. I am doing the readings with engine running after cycling through all gears (twice) pausing for 2 seconds at each point and outside temp is approx 5ºc each time. With engine Cold (Running for 2-3 Mins before reading) it Seems to barely on the dipstick, so that would mean that I need to top up? Engine upto Temp after driving for 15 mins, 5 miles in daytime traffic, it would read right between the hot marks, so Correct level does not need topped up? Engine upto temp after driving for 1hr, 30 miles daytime traffic, (idling for 3 mins before doing reading), would read over to hot mark by approx 1½cm, so level is to high and need to remove some trans oil? My understanding is that I should do a reading after 15-20 mins of normal driving, but am concerned that I am getting conflicting readings of Under-filled/Overfilled. Would appreciate any advise
  9. Looking a bit of advise on the Ideal size tyre for 18" wheel on a MK2 Gs300. (18"x8jj) Currently i have 225/40R18 The issue i have with my current setup is that if i scrape a kerb, or if i rub against a kerb that i scrape my alloys and on occasions pinch the tyres which takes a small chunk of them. If i were to change to 245/40R18 would i avoid scraping my alloys or would this present any other other problem (ie puncturing the tyre ect)? i'd be grateful for any insight anyone could lend.
  10. I ordered mine from http://www.rockauto.co.uk/ Part no 11744059 £10 delivered (took 2-3 weeks thou as they are based in USA). http://www.rockauto.co.uk/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=2027098&cc=1373846&jnid=385&jpid=1 You can pay extra for priority shipping 2-3 days should cost you £26 delivered Regards Deet
  11. Lithium soap based Glycol grease is the recommended stuff to use. My apologizes I thought that Silicone Grease was the correct grease for slide pins. That Toyota Rubber Grease is it the same as all Red Rubber Grease? ( I have a tub of http://goo.gl/lTfrT3 Also I have a Tube of Mintex Ceratec anti brake sequel lubricant seems to be the same as the Bosch superfit brake lubricant, i didnt realise it was suitable for slide pins only to be used for back of pads etc. Looks like i would be able to use that?
  12. Same happened to my Slide Pins due to wrong grease being used and causing the rubber bush to swell. I bought a caliper slide pin kit which has all the bits you need costs £16 http://goo.gl/NTNyxm It also has the correct grease for the slide pins Silicone Grease.
  13. Cheers for the response. Car passed Psv 2 weeks ago so should not be any play in ball joints however I noticed the top ball joint rubber had spilt (no play in it thou) Will give all the joints a good check over. Wheel nuts torqued to 110nm?
  14. HI all looking abit feedback/info. When I brake most of the time but not all the time I get a judder through the steering wheel. Seems to Judder the most when braking lightly at about 30-50 MPH and ease up as i come to a stop (Braking harder). I have only had the car for 1 month and when I was giving the car a good checkover after buying I noticed that all the slide pins were stuck( not completely seized but barely able to move) after I freed them up the brake wobble seemed to start. My 1st impression is that I have a slightly warped disc or discs but am unsure as surely I would get a Judder/Wobble every time I brake and not sometimes? Whats your thoughts? Regards Deet
  15. Cheers for the response, Seen post of 3k and that for oil changes which i thought was abit extreme, Will mainly be doing city driving, 10k ok for city driving or reduce? I have not owned an Automatic before so would not be 100% on whether oil has been changed, it is red, not gritty and does not smell burnt. it might be normal for 135k miles or had oil changes in the past, really don't know Can you clarify on the ATF change, when you say don't Flush it or do a complete change are you refering to flush (adding a cleaner/flushing chemicals) and Complete flush (drain pan, torque converter and oil cooler etc) When you are refering to change little by little do you mean drain and fill, I think that a drain and fill uses 2lts of oil and total capacity of ATF is 8lts. Altho Toyota/Lexus dont have a schedule for changing the ATF there are numerus posts on Drain and fill and it seems to be that drain and fill every 60k. Sorry for all the questions but dont want to do something stupid
  16. HI all looking abit of feedback, on the Maintenance Schedule for my 03 Gs300 135k Miles. My car has no service history and I wanted to create a service schedule to follow using Lexus Drivers site, Does the frequency of jobs sound right? Every 5k Replace Engine oil (5w30 Fully synthetic, Going to use Castrol Magnatec A1) Every 15k Replace Aircon Filter Re torque Drive flange Bolts Every 30k Replace Brake Fluid Replace Air Filter Replace Coolant Check Brake Pads Every 60k Replace Spark Plugs Check Valve Clearances Check Drive Belts Every 90k Replace Timing Belt On working on schedule i have noticed that there are no Diff oil Change and Transmission Fluid change just to Inspect them. How often would you Drain and Fill the Diff oil? 30k? 60k? other? Same with the Transmission Fluid (Drain and Fill) how often? Many Thanks Dietmar
  17. Cheer's took for a long test drive and i noticed that when I switch to Manual the dash shows M-2 etc so all seems fine, Agreed price and will be picking up tomorrow night. Many Thanks
  18. Just taking a second to say hi. On the hunt for a GS300 and currently looking at cars. I hope it's not bad crack but need to ask a question. Looking at a 03 GS300 today and due me wanting to see the car in daylight the owner was not present, so will be meeting him tonight to make an offer. When I drove the car it changes so smooth I struggled to notice any gear changes, (car was in drive) when I switched to m on the dash shows D-5 and If I use the down buttons would change to D-4 etc. If I move it to D-2 it seems to shift past 2nd. (The car was cold and was only around the block, I will be doing a full test drive tonight) Should the dash show M-2, is this normal behaviour. Regards Dietmar
