  1. Hi, Does anyone know if Lexus allow you to extend the servicing intervals on the GS450h to 12.5k if you complete a lot of motorway driving? I know when I was previously looking at the IS300h (I didn't fit :-( ), I was told a 12.5k interval was available for fleet drivers or those doing a lot of motorway driving. 2.5k extra may not sound a lot, but when you are doing over 20k miles a year, it starts to add up. Thanks, SW
  2. Hi, I have no need to buy a car outright as I get a monthly car allowance from work, hence the reason I'm looking for a PCP in budget. I do wonder how many people purchase a £30k car in cash? I usually get my cars on a 4 year contract but Lexus do a maximum 3.5 year term. SW
  3. Get believe I've found 2 GS 450h's in budget but have been snookered by Lexus Finance who refuse to offer more than 3.5 year PCP plans .... I want a 4 year one b Was impressed on a test drive yesterday. 47mpg on the motorway. SW
  4. Thanks for the replies so far. All very helpful. Does anyone have experience of the latest generation GS? I will be buying 18 months old or newer. SW
  5. Hi, After being very disappointed to find I don't fit in the latest IS, I've turned my eye onto the GS. My initial thoughts are that the GS300H would not offer me sufficient performance (unless anyone can argue otherwise) so I've turned my attention on the 450h. So what is the actually real world for these cars? I mean what would I get driving around town? What would I get on a good motorway journey? Thanks in advance, SW
  6. Paid a visit to Lexus Bolton earlier. Had a sit in an IS300h with manual seats and I'm too big for the car. With the seat at the lowest setting my head was touching the roof lining. Damn shame as I liked the car. Sat in the NX. Headroom slightly better but reading on here the MPG is dreadful. I like the GS but the 300h is too underpowered for the car. The 450h is just a bit thirsty. Back to looking at the Germans again.
  7. Thanks guys for your help so far. This is a very insightful forum. I have a few more questions .... One of the best features on my E-Class is the ability to set a speed limit on the cruise control which unless you floor it, the car won't exceed. I find this really useful in towns when I set it to 30mph and then never need to look at the speedo ... Does the IS do this? Also, is my understanding correct that I need to find a car with the optional safety pack to have 'High Beam Assist' on the lights? I find this such a useful feature when driving down country lanes in the dark. How good is the voice control for the hifi / phone etc? I find the ability to cancel my route guidance by saying a few words on my MB very useful. Thanks in advance, SW
  8. Thanks everyone for your responses. I've spoken to be nearest dealer and organised a test drive in early May as I'm out of the country for most of April. Would be interesting to see how a 300H deals with the drive from the UK to Spain. I've just watched Ganzoom's videos (I think it was his) on the performance of the IS300H and it seems sufficient. If Lexus want to do me a good trade in on my E-Class (sufficient to pay off the finance), I could be very tempted with one. I believe Lexus is offering 2% APR on AUC at the moment which is better than the 9% i'm currently paying. Also looks like extended warranty costs with Lexus are half the price of Mercedes. Do Lexus do Service plans? I currently pay about £38 a month for 4 services over 3 years. My Mercedes requires a service every 15K miles. Simon
  9. Afternoon, I've been looking around the forum for a little while now while I've been considering buying a Lexus and thought it was about time to ask a few questions. The first question is that I'm a big guy of about 6ft3 tall. The previous IS was a total no no as my head touched the roof and I couldn't see out of the wind screen. I've paid a brief visit to my local dealer to have a quick look and still seem to be having the same problem with the new version. Does the base of the seat tilt? I've found measurements on some websites and these suggest I should fit. I do fit in a GS but I don't think I need the extra size and 9+ seconds 0-60 is getting a little slow. I've read numerous reviews online and quite a few mention the drivetrain and some describe overtaking as 'dangerous' due to the delay in the power delivery caused by the CVT. How bad is this? I currently drive a MB E350CDI which is pretty rapid but I rarely use the full capabilities of the car. Again most reviews talking about disappointing MPG. My driving style is such that I can get 52+MPG out of my V6 diesel on a good run (and 60K miles out of a set of front discs and pads). Is the fuel consumption really that bad or just motoring journalists driving them like you stole them? What would I expect on a 200 mile motorway run, e.g. Manchester to London? Another point made is the Sat Nav graphics are really poor ... are they that bad? Thanks in advance, Simon
