  3. Hi, i have the same problem and your fix of drilling appeals more than 450 inspection plus cost to repair - is there anything underneath i need to be aware of to avoid where i drill - out of interest where/how many times did you drill thanks
  4. Hi NeilJ the good news is yes, i did manage to get it fixed - a bit unorthodox in how but lets just say i needed a new windscreen. The replacement was a like for like with the heating element and tinted visor with Lexus printed on it so assume it was an OEM part, since replacement i have had no return of a wet interior pillar. - you may get away with just removal and resealing but good chance it will break on removal -..................... luckily i had a large rock thrown up from following a lorry so needed a replacement that cost me my XS (£70 i think)
  5. Hi Charlieboy3 - i took off my driverside roof rail and tapped the whole length of the rain gutter - this stopped the leak instantly, i then (a bit extreme) in the end i took out the headlining and the A frame pillar covers and saw water coming on from the top corner where the screen/body work meet - i believe the rubber bonding between the screen and the bodywork had come away/perished or something - this allowed moisture in initially, then over the years due movement, expansion/contraction the gap got larger and made the problem worse until such time it allowed water in. It got so bad the whole of the interior windscreen was wet or iced when very cold. i had the windscreen replaced today - so should be ok - finger crossed, time will tell
  6. unfortunately i think that is the case - no drips today so i think i can rule out the windscreen (good news) looking like its the rain gulley where the roof rails sit - there must be a drain away somewhere that is blocked and the water is backing up and coming out form a place where it would not normally be. i am going to remove some silicon i have applied and take a visit to these people : https://cars.newagain.co.uk/car-water-leak.asp
  7. Hi - do you have a picture of the rear suspension gas struts - interested to see how easy it is to replace them.
  8. thanks, its definitely is not from the washer pipe - its from outside getting in - i have the pipe and the airbag curtain exposed. IMG_3409.MOVIMG_3409.MOV
  9. Hi Charlieboy3, following various tests my current position is: i have the windscreen edge (left side, right side and across the top covered by 2" gaffer tape, the drivers side roof rail has been removed and the whole length of the rain gulley has been covered with 2" gaffer tape, the headlining has been removed - today i let loose with the hose and drenched the vehicle - the test will be tomorrow -if it drips i am at a loss where its it coming in, if it does not i will have narrowed the problem down to the roof rail/gulley - the next step will be to seal the gulley - will keep you posted.
  10. windscreen has not been changed blocked drain - do you know where drain is located bad - seal - i assume you mean seal on windscreen gone ?
  11. Firstly happy New year to all. secondly and thirdly: 2nd - found water mark on inside cover of A pillar ( see picture) - removed it but cannot see where it is coming from but can see wet right in the corner, suspected a leak from somewhere for a long time as inside of windscreen gets wet/icy very bad condensation in the winter - seems i now know why - anyone had leak from top of A frame or somewhere near that can advise how i can resolve it. ( apart from the obvious of getting the screen replaced) 3rd- when internal cover of A pillar removed, noticed a tube - curious to know what it is any ideas ?
  12. Sorcerer - thank you for your logical explanation, thought i 'd put your theory to the test - put it in auto, to the footwells it went, decrease the temperature to 18 and it moved to footwell and face vents, went down further to 16.5 and it went to face vents only - took it right up to 28 and it moved to windscreen and footwell - bugger me, it and you are clever. Bottom line is there is no fault - if i want them to come out of the face vents when i first get in, i will have to move to as warmer climate Ian M - fluffy dice are a no go area - the wife's of course - got them from the Aerosmith Rock 'n' Roll ride in Disney about 14years ago - sorry not for sale ! Glover - i is jealous still would be interested if the default can be changed.
  13. Hi all, looking for advice on whether my climate control is working as it should. On my 450h 2010 with sat nav i select the auto on the climate control - on the display page i can see that the fan is automatically controlled when i move temp up/down however the "mode" is always set footwell and does not change - should it change automatically ? i can manually change the mode ( air vent selection), the auto light goes off and the vent location does change where the air come out from. picture attached showing on auto mode and footwell always set. hope that makes sense and that someone can compare if theirs does the same or confirm if a setting needs changing or there is a fault - fingers crossed its a setting. thanks up front
  14. Thanks for the comments so far, i did not purchase throough Lexus but it has had Services (every year not by milage) done by Lexus and part of the sale was supplier got the big service due at 5yr60k done by Lexus at their cost so it does have full Lexus service History - i personally am swayed towards the Lexus warranty but as i said does not cover wear and tear and items found to be faulty at services or MOT's.I do have the 1yr Hybrid warranty that comes part of of the Lexus service but not sure what cover there is in either the lexus or the 3rd party cover.Something i will have to check out. Getting on for 6yrs and albeit only 20k the car has been used around town, possible as bit of weekend toy so short journeys etc is probably the usage - what sort of problems have other 450h drivers experienced ? - i heard a couple of times about door mirrors but not much else -
  15. Hi All, I am new to this forum having just prurchased my first Lexus, sorry to say its not a new one, its a previously enjoyed RX450h, late 2009 with 20k on the clock. I live in the better part of the Essex area (eastern edge with green fields and where the sea joins the land) and quite frankly am surprised by how few there on the roads. Not sure what drew me to the RC450h but having decided to get one a few months ago i been a bit besotted with looking at the used car sites, used car garages and newspapers until i finally found one the fitted my pocket, conditions etc and effectively with just over 20k on the clock its a new car. My pondery is and i will apologise in advance as this may cause a bit of a debate do i: a. steer clear of lexus and 3rd party warranties and put the 900 pounds in the bank towards any potential repairs or b. Go with Lexus 2 yr warranty 995 pounds (no wear and tear) or c.Go with ie Warranty Direct, 2yr policy about 900 pounds but with wear and tear included (seems to cover everything) and the diagnoses/repairs can be done at Lexus (only problem is that Lexus is 30+ miles away) Looking forward to your views, comments and advice regards
