Can't really help here, but have to say my 2015 IS300h Advance had both front and rear sensors fitted as standard, so changing the grille design seems a case of style over substance, and a backwards step.

My is300h advance my17 did not have front or rear sensors as standard, therefore this was my best option.

  2. Hello again people.  Well after much hunting I finally got the front sensors fitted, all canbus controlled so no switch, just live at below 5 mph.  Great job done at John Kleis and a special mention to Connor who made it happen!  First of a kind for them and they had to buy stuff in for programming so if you are local to Reading, Berkshire then give him a call.

    Hi Mark

Glad the info helped , my front ones are speed controlled , active when stopped or below 5mph , they turn off (light on switch goes out ) automaticaly above this speed. The switch only turns them off briefly , like if you start the car and your detecting another parked car you can turn them off manually , but they become active again when the car moves off . To be honest i have only just worked out how they work , didnt take much notice until your posts about them. They must be canbus controlled to work like this 😁😁

    Cheers Steve

Well that's good news then Steve!  Looking forward to getting the work done now as I have realised that I really do miss them on the front!!

    Hi

Here is I pic of my front ones which are factory fitted on my f sport. If you zoom in you can see the one integrated in the front grill which is the issue they were telling you about. Hopefully you will be pleased with the solution you've found

    Cheers

Thanks Carl.. I did look at that option but the replacement grill was £500 plus and didn't include the parking sensors! MY17 models do not have it included except the top of the range model!  Which is why i have had to go for a retro fit..... still costing me £649.00 but I am confident they will do a good job and they will be canbus controlled too, so no little switch to annoy the he'll out of my OCD! 😂😂😂😂

Hi ST100, car booked in for the end of the month so pictures will follow but what was really funny was that they contacted the guys in Bristol that fitted yours and then shared a picture of what looked like your car!!  Looks like the way yours have been fitted is the way to go!  As I said pictures to follow once all done at the end of the month.

    .) Ignition off, doors closed
2.) Hold the wiper switch in the full up position. (this is the wiper off position)
3.) While holding the wiper switch in the full up position, turn the IG on. (two presses of the start/stop switch)
4.) Hold wiper switch in the full up position for 5 seconds
5.) Move the wiper switch down one "click" or "notch", hold for 5 seconds
6.) Move the wiper switch back to the full up position, hold for 5 seconds
7.) Move the wiper switch down one "click" or "notch". hold for 5 seconds (same position as step 5)
8.) Move the wiper switch back to the rest position (neutral)

If this was done correctly, the right turn signal will flash once.

To adjust how many flashes you want, you change the intermittent wiper speed switch. P1 starts with the speed switch all the way at the bottom, P4 will be the top speed. This is found on the wiper stalk.

    P1: 3 blinks
    P2: 5 blinks
    P3: 7 blinks
    P4: Function turned off

Set the intermittent wiper speed to the desired setting.

Use the Turn Signal stalk and push down like you want to activate the left turn signal, the flashers should activate

If the turn signal blinks once, you change it to the "3 flashes" setting
If the turn signal blinks twice, you changed it to the "5 flashes" setting
If the turn signal blinks three times, you changed it to the "7 flashes" setting
If the turn signal blinks four times, you turned the function off.

Once this is done, cycle the ignition switch off, and back on, and it should be changed.

I tried this and get the one flash to confirm I am now able to set it.  But when I try to change using the intermittent control nothing seems to change?  What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks.....

  7. If you have rear reflectors fitted as standard then they must remain.  So if you install these then they must be reflective too, even though they illuminate when on.....  that is my understanding and will be picked up at MOT.

As I said I have something similar fitted to my current CT and they are fully reflective.  In fact they reflect more than the stock ones I took off!  My current car, soon to be replaced has gone through 3 MOT's and never failed.

I guess I will just keep an eye out and wait for our friends in China to produce them with reflective qualities.

  8. Thanks for the reply.  I fitted some thing similar to my CT.  You just don't use them as turn markers, just don't connect that wire.  You then have additional driving and break lights, perfect!  However, they must remain reflective when off else could be an MOT fail.  Which is why i asked the original question.  I am sure the seller will come back and say yes but thought if someone has fitted them they would know.

  9. Thanks Steve.  The company that supplied me with the image also said that canbus works with these and my IS, therefore doing away with the switch, they would charge about £350 fitted.  My reputable car electronics company said they have not fitted them to an IS but would make it work and look like a factory fit, but for £750!

I am torn and the dealers are as much use as a handbrake on a canoe on this subject, great for everything Lexus but once you step out from all things Lexus they just seem to have no great advice.  Don't get me wrong I am not knocking them but I find it hard to believe that 2 dealers have never had or seen front parking sensors fitted......

I pick up the car in a couple of weeks so will wait to see what the rears look like (flush or not).  If not flush I might just go for the image option and canbus.......

  10. I looked at this type of solution but doing some homework uncovered that this system is not very reliable and tbh if you can't rely on it then there is no point having it!

I am still on the hunt.  I was sent the attached image but then another reputable car electronics fitting company said that where the front sensors had been placed would leave a massive blind spot on the very front.

So, the story continues and please keep the ideas coming.....

    Front Parking Sensors - Lexus IS300H - 2017.jpg

  11. Thanks Rayanns. The grill on the advance does not have the sensor holes, not even blanked, so I would need to swap the grill, that on its own is £500 according to the dealer!  There is just no easy way to fit them, which is why when I have asked a couple of the larger installation companies (just Google parking sensors) and you will know who I mean both said that they were unable to fit them.

I am having the rears fitted by the dealer but even then they do not integrate with rear camera, just a buzzer.  They are only fully integrated on the rear if specified at the factory.... or so I have been LED to believe.

I am guessing I will have to do without unless someone on here has managed to get it done!

  12. Hi there

I have a CT currently and you are correct but they are more forward facing as they are positioned on the front of the bumper.  The holes on the IS that fitters would use are facing left and right if that makes sense, and cars with them fitted at the factory use a different grill which has 2 forward facing sensors.

I have found a local car HiFi centre which will attempt it and build 2 brackets for the grill plus a canbus for £900!!  Yes £900, which even I just can't afford......

I think I will just have to live without them.......
