  1. Hi. I tried that but it was already on single map mode. I think there is a glitch somewhere as the other day a large area of the map I was travelling in showed no roads at all. As of today it appears to be behaving. I recall some time ago, just before a run, I tried a software update. I think the problems started there as I had to use my TomTom - I'll try to do a manufacturers reset if I can figure out how. Thanks for your input.
  2. Thanks, I'll give that a go. I am not sure if this will cure the car's random display. Today we drove to lunch - compass displayed. After lunch we drove home - map displayed. No input from me. Really strange!
  3. I wonder if anyone has experienced this and has a solution? I normally select 3 sections for the satnav display. Audio (manditory), Map and Drive source(engine/battery) with no issues for years. Recently the Nav system has taken upon itself to randomly display a Compass instead of Map. I don't know what to expect each time I switch on. Will it be Map or Compass. There doesn't even appear to be an option to select Compass for display. Any Ideas? Thanks
  4. Managed to replace the side repeater without a hitch, working slowly with plastic trim tools I already had. Re-attaching the upper cover took the longest time. More of a sliding into position from the bottom and then pressing rather than a straight on push. Gave me a satisfying sense of achievement and saved me almost £50 from lexus! Many thanks to the valuable input from Colin & Peter.
  5. Thanks Colin. It does look a bit complex & prone to damaging the plastic on a first attempt. I'll give it a go and hope reassembly will be a little easier. Regards, Ian
  6. I wonder if anyone could advise how to replace the indicater repeater lamp assy, side (part L81730-78010) on my NX300h. It's the one under the mirror. I missed this not working when preparing for MOT (fail). I've ordered the replacement (£103.52 !!) and have a week to fit before re-test. Any help appreciated.
  7. Thanks for your comments Peter. Maybe this is down to area. The 2 Lexus dealerships nearest to me immediately transfer me to the call centre if I just mention "service". The actual experience when the car is serviced has always been great.
  8. In recent years, booking a service has become an unpleasant experience. The days when you could call the dealership service department, discuss your requirements and book a service have long past. It's now a call centre with non technical people operating from a script. The last 3 occasions I had to use them resulted in many errors such as wrong date, wrong location, messages not passed on etc. I called the dealership this afternoon for costs and was transferred to the call centre who told me £320 for Intermediate and £580 for Full service including spark plug change. When I last enquired at the dealership they deduct £170 if you fit your own plugs (at a diy cost of £45 for OEM plugs plus 15 minutes). The call centre young lady told me the cost is the same whether I have plugs replaced or not. I asked to be transferd back to the Dealership (whom I originally called) when the line went dead! I didn't get the chance to discuss the £100 previously quoted price reduction for OEM oil I always provide (£54.98 for 5 litres 0w20 from Snows Toyota, Exeter) with service cost always historically reduced. I would be interested to hear others experience and whether it has proved benefitial to have servicing done other than by Lexus.
  9. Is there a techno that could advise on the feasibility of this: If I fit additional 2 forward facing sensors, link the right/front sensor to the right/corner sensor wiring and the left/forward sensor to the left/corner sensor wiring would this provide the desired front coverage? Obviously the visual display would highlight left or right if a front one triggered but that would be ok. The audible warning should also activate. Would the control box be ok with the juice the 2 extra sensors need? Would this work? Any advice?
  10. Thanks Norman but I think this adjustment may not be available on my SE-l
  11. Unless I have missed something the only adjustment for the front sensors is either on or off. There does appear to be a choice of near or far for the REAR sensors. I think I'll have to adopt the principal of care over technology!
  12. Thanks for the suggestion Slackbladder I'll give that a thought. Thanks Rayann & Lockeyboy, I'll check the setting tomorrow.
  13. The front sensors on my 3rd gen RX450h have performed well until a recent incident. Whilst parking I came nose to nose within a "fag paper" thickness of a rather expensive looking Jaguar XK something. Not a beep or a beep beep!! Thankfully, I gave up waiting for a warning signal and stopped before contact. The Jag owner was not impressed. It occurs to me that as Lexus call them something like "corner sensors" they are not truly front parking sensors. OK to protect wings when maneuvering or parking up to a brick wall but not a low central bollard, or the low pointy nose of an XK! Has anyone had a similar experience of this or know if it is possible to add 2 additional sensors and how these could be integrated to give dead ahead warning. Most cars with front sensors have 4 not just 2 as on the RX.
  14. My 450 is behaving itself since my last post becoming "ready" first time, every time so have cancelled visit to Lexus. I wonder if it could have been "pilot error not pressing the brake positively enough or, more likely, the piddly aux battery fitted as standard and short trips. I tested with an old multi-meter and found the battery drain to be 0.2amps with everything off (car unlocked/no alarm). According to the book this could drain a new battery in 4 days! Maybe the 5 years old battery is getting tired? I'll get his checked out at next service.
  15. Thanks for the feedback, John. The "un-ready" issue with us is intermittent and I'm wondering as most of our trips are under 10 miles if the aux battery isn't getting much of a charge. At least on 2nd or 3rd attempt it becomes "ready". We will keep the emergency start tip in mind for next incident. Lexus Croydon, from whom we bought, are almost 40 miles away away and to collect & return requires 3 days without a car in early June - bit of a pain but probably better than 160 miles for 2 round trips inc courtesy car or a day in the showroom drinking coffee! Thanks again. Ian
  16. Hi John. I have similar problem What did the garage find?
