  1. Thanks for the link Dave :)

My car is an X reg 2000 model, so does that mean mine are smaller as its pre 2001 according to the poster of that thread.

Anyone know how I can double check if its true the pre2001 is200 discs are smaller than is300?

    Thanks

  2. I'll be needing to change my brakes soon as I get a wobble in the steering wheel when braking at speed, must be warped front discs.

Was wondering if the IS300 front calipers take a larger disc than the is200?

It would make sense for a 3L to have larger brakes than the 2L but on eBay I see discs for is200/is300 on the one size 296mm for both cars?

I'll have a spare set of front brakes off my Subaru Legacy soon which use 316mm discs, I know I'll need adaptor brackets made to fit them. Although I'm not sure if I will need is200 brake lines or the same ones on the subaru for their calipers?

  3. Yep, you can remove the pre-cats and still pass emissions test with the center cat warmed up. However it is technically an MOT failure to have any cats removed from stock.

Dont bother spending money on swapping the center cat out for a sports one, you won't gain anything other than a tinny sound. If you do get a sports cat it is recommended not to go lower than 200 cell, also cheap cats can break up and then the parts can get sucked back into the engine and seize it.

  4. Thanks Mikey, It's probably because I've got quite a high sidewall but keeps the ride smooth on bumpy country roads.

I rate these Federal Formoza AZ01 tyres, decent price and lots of grip in the wet

The car certainly sounds "meaty" with the exhaust that pops and bangs aha

Heres a pic in better lighting from today:

  5. Got them on the car on monday, because of the lower offset the front wheels tread poked outside the arches slightly but I used a fender rolled and tucked the lips and pulled the front arches out flush with the wheels. Still got a nice bit of arch gap but hopefully will get that sorted in next couple months.

Haven't got any pic of them on the car yet, need to give the car and wheels a good clean first.

They do look great though, I can always see the polished lip shining at night when walking over to the car

  6. Damn dude you got a 2015 Lexus and your cheaping it out with eBay logo door lights

Its cool if that what you want and you enjoy them. (I ordered eBay underglows to put on my car for when we drive on the back roads at night aha)

I just think you should be investing in upgrades to complement the caliber of the car, any cheap mods will stand out on your fresh new lexus

  7. Refurbished some cheap wheels I got off eBay, can’t believe how shiny the lips have come up! Somehow they were listed as Toyota Picnic wheels.. I could clearly tell they were not OEM wheels however they do say made in Japan on the back which is a plus :) They are also half an inch wider than my stock wheels

I primed, painted and lacquered them within 3hrs, curing the paint layers with a heat gun because it's been so cold. To polish the wheels I put them on the rear of the car while it was jacked up and on stands. Then with the car in 2nd gear the wheels would be spinning which made it fairly easy to sand the paint off the lips and shine them up

These are gonna look sweet on the IS, just need to get some fresh tyres on them first on Monday.

Respray+Polished: Center cover not on in the picture but have TRD centre caps on them as I couldn't find any listings for Lexus centre stickers also the lips look way more shiny in real life

  8. Chas do you mean the rectangle shape trim that goes on the face of the stereo to fill the double din gap?

I'd lost the lil face thing for my stereo but lucky with this kit it came with the adaptor for a single din with the bar in the middle.

I just cut out the bar in the middle so it was double din and clipped it to the face of the stereo.

  9. I wouldn't recommend that kit I bought to anyone, the harness was wired wrong, it had the batt constant voltage and a switch live shorted together, so the radio wouldn't turn off / wasn't right at all. it of course took me an extra 2 hours to figure this out instead of taking me about an hour took much longer! all in and working though :D

Did you buy the same cheap kit I've got?

I haven't had any issues with the radio turning on/off with the car. It also dims the stereo screen when the headlights come on which is pretty sweet

  10. Awesome so it turns out it was indeed only a gasket blown.

They checked it out and it was because on the manifold it goes 3-1 and ends with two flush holes and on the flange on the center pipe its 2 ringed holes and they were suppose to have rubber rings in them to make it a flush fit but didn't so it had blown the gasket apart and was leaking at back of the header.

  11. I think I've destroyed my cat already! :'(

The car kept popping flames down the exhaust and last night it got really tinny and **** sounding. Going to take it back to the place that fitted it and hoping it's just blowing.

I explained to someone at the exhaust place about having no pre cats and passing mot because the fitter didn't think he should do it but 2 other people in the shop confirmed it will pass on the centre cat warmed up.

Also yes they would easily notice the pre cats are gone but only if they knew they were there before ;)

My subaru has passed 3 different Mots at 3 different garages with no pre cats and passed emissions.

  12. Really? I thought it would be stiffer more "sporty" spring as I'm thinking of getting them on mine. Do you not recommend them?

TEIN do a set of coilovers for £440 but I didn't really want to pay so much to get low but don't want my car to bounce around like a boat on the lower springs.

I think strut bars are more to make the chassis stiff when changing direction

  13. What's the sound like sompared to the original head unit?

Not really sure as I only listened to radio on the original stereo. The double din stereo does sound great and will likely be an improvement because of the equalizer software on the head unit.

The stereo doesn't sound as good as it did in my Alfa romeo before but that's due to the cars speaker system.

  14. Wheey the reason my exhaust got some much louder the other day is because it's now snapped behind the center resonator too so I'll be having to change the whole system.

Decat SS manifold, used center pipe with cat and now a SS cat back exhaust

  15. Really how come? Unless ive got it wrong the pre cat is the center one?

I think it will pass emissions because my Subaru had 3 cats and I removed the pre cat and it still passes MOTs.

I know it counts as a fail to have them removed but most will not notice and only check the emissions

  16. Yep that adapter kit works, arrived earlier today. The fitment isn't great but it does the job.tumblr_o0jf8x5QWH1rp8g93o1_1280.jpg

    Very simple install.

Pull the bottom section where traction and snow buttons are. This should just pop off

Undo two 10mm bolts at bottom of stereo then unpop the top vented section and undo 2 more 10mm bolts.

Remove 8mm bolts in side of stereo, remove stereo. Plug in adaptor cable and install new stereo in reverse.

I was able to fix my double din in with the old stereo bracket and screws. Didn't need to use the plastic adaptors that came in the kit.
