  1. Thanks for the responses, I will keep searching through the menu and the manual to see if there’s something I should be doing that I’m not. If people could continue to share their experiences of the auto full beam function, I would be grateful. Tim
  2. Thanks Alan I’ve put the stalk in the forward position but it doesn’t change the lights to full beam. I could understand if there were obstacles or reflective road signs, but even when the road is clear the light only occasionally flicks to full beam. To be fair, on the rare occasion when it does so it flicks back to main when another car approaches. But I cannot trust the car to do it every time.
  3. We have had the car since March, but only in the past couple of weeks have I had reason to drive in the dark. Light stalk is set to auto but only switches to full beam intermittently when driving in conditions that would ordinarily cause the headlights to go to full beam. Sometimes it works, but more often it doesn’t. I have had to resort to holding the stalk towards me in flash mode and steering one-handed when driving on dark country roads at night, as I cannot rely on the lights to go full beam. My previous cars were Hondas and I never experienced a problem like this. Any suggestions please? Many thanks, Tim
  4. Thanks Mike, That is most helpful - thank you so much. For some reason the ‘day mode’ wasn’t showing as an option in the display so I couldn’t toggle it on/off, but then the option suddenly appeared! Thanks again, much obliged to you. Tim
  5. Driving home from Leeds the other day, the headlights came on automatically when it got dark, as I expected, but the large nav screen display remained at full daytime brightness. Shouldn’t the display automatically switch to night time contrast, and if so could anyone advise how to enable this please? I was on the motorway and unable to stop until the next services, and in the meantime the screen was dazzlingly bright as it got dark outside. Grateful for any advice. Thanks
  6. My Gen II RX 300 was 2003 (53 plate). Loved it. Had air suspension that I could raise and lower like the old Citroens. I converted it to run on LPG. Sad to see it go but it was time to move on.
  7. @b4u2 I can only speak from experience with my Gen II that it just worked when I got it. But my original post was that it is not enabled on my Gen IV by default. Have you tried the key to see if it would work?
  8. b4u2: Sounds cool How do I do this or does it have to be programmed to work? On the Gen II - just press and hold the unlock button on the key fob and it will open all the windows including the sunroof. Similarly, press and hold the lock button to close them all.
  9. Hi Colin, Thanks for the prompt response. My goodness! How infuriating that a functionality has been disabled because of owners sitting on their keys! Surely the answer would be to remove keys from pockets? I definitely couldn't do all that Techstream stuff - that's way beyond my capability. I will throw myself at the dealer's mercy! Thank again - much obliged. Tim
  10. When I had a Gen II RX 300, I could remotely open and close all the windows and sunroof by pressing and holding the unlock/lock button on the key fob. However, I cannot seem to do the same with my Gen IV RX 450h. Is this function still available on current models, and if so, what am I missing/doing wrong? Grateful for any advice, thanks.
  11. I had a 2003 2nd gen 300 SE-L with air suspension and loved it. In fact, I didn't realise Lexus had dropped it in favour of springs on my current 4th gen. I must admit to having had to shell out over £1200 to get the compressor replaced, at one stage. But the ride was superb! Also, it had the distinct advantage of being able to lower the car to kerb level to allow my tiny mother-in-law to get in or out! Now, the 4th gen feels just like any other good car on good springs - nice, but nothing special.
  12. Hi John I didn’t find it yesterday when I was the passenger. I found menu, settings, general but that’s where I got lost. I’ll try again - thank you for your help. regards Tim
  13. Another 'glitch' I have noticed on the HUD display is that occasionally when I drive from, say 30 or 40 MPH zone into a national speed limit area, the speed limit goes up to 120 MPH on my HUD, before settling down into the clearway sign eventually (but not always).
  14. Thanks Herbie, you're probably right - I do love the car, despite its faults. Going back to your earlier advice about using the joystick - is it possible to 'slow' it down? The slightest touch with my arthriticky left hand and it whizzes off the screen. There's no way I could use it to select a contact in my phonebook, or anything else for that matter. I'm grateful for your insight.
  15. Thanks Herbie I have had other makes such as Honda and they make their voice commands work, so Toyota should too. I’m surprised that Lexus have allowed this obviously widespread and common fault to continue. Despite all Lexus’s engineering prowess, most owners judge their cars by the touch points where the driver interacts with the car.
  16. Thanks Herbie, Actually that's a relief, because it proves to me that this is a function that the RX has. I guess I just need to read the instructions again (RTFI lol!), unless you could post an idiots' guide on how to do it, please? Whenever I or my wife tries to set it up, all I get is "pardon?". Thanks
  17. Hello Saphian, I echo your frustration. I have recently bought a 2016 450H. Lovely car, but I do not seem to be able to make a call from it, even after pairing my phone (iPhone 11). My understanding is that despite all the features of this luxurious brand, making hands free calls from the car does not seem possible - surely that's not right, is it? What if we get stuck in traffic and need to call ahead? I must be doing something wrong...any advice please? Thanks.
  18. Thanks Alan, Is it the same problem for both the hands free phone voice command AND the voice commands for all other functions? Reason I ask, is because I could live without the voice operated nav system, but not the phone. I am surprised that Lexus haven't provided a firmware update to make the voice command function more effective. Anyone else got a view on this? Regards, Tim
  19. Hello James, We have the same problem. We bought a 2016 RX 450h two weeks ago and cannot get the voice command to recognise "Call [name]". Very frustrating, isn't it? Do you find yourself comparing the car with your previous make and model? It's a pity that Lexus have not made the system more user friendly. Certainly Honda have done, but I shouldn't be nostalgic! I hope you manage to get it sorted. Regards Tim
  20. Hi I used to be in the LOC a few years ago when I had a 2003 RX 300 V6. I have just resurrected my dormant membership today. Have been in the wilderness for a few years, but glad to be back since buying a 2016 RX 450h last month. Absolutely love it! Pity the boot isn't as big as the old model, but hey, it's a fantastic car.
  21. Our beloved RX had to go, unfortunately.
