  1. Thanks Rayaans, really appreciated! I am loving the toys! I haven't played around with the sound system but I am looking forward to getting a new case for my iPhone that has contactless charging as that was an unexpected feature in the car
  2. Hi all, I picked up an ex-demo RX 450h Premier last week and am having trouble keeping myself from grinning all the time! It is a pleasure to be in and looks gorgeous in white. I do have one issue at the moment though. As it is a Premier, it has the rear and 360 cameras which are great. However, they keep turning on every time I go below about 5mph, I.e. Every time I get to a junction or traffic lights! This is annoying as I don't need these then and would rather have the sat nav showing and/or the rest of the MMI. I've spoken to another Premier owner who doesn't have this happen on his. Can anyone help explain how I can turn this function off? I just want it to come on when I put it in reverse or when I press the button on the right. Thanks Alex
  3. Hi all, Thanks DanD for the useful comments. I say useful but I read them too late to make a difference as I have just purchased (collecting on Saturday) an ex-demo Premier. I hadn't planned to as I was set to get an XC90 (been researching and salivating for 8 months!) but the price for this car was great and it was exactly what we wanted (white with panoramic roof). I agree with your observations, in particular the sat nav. It rally struggles in comparison with the Volvo in this aspect. Whilst there are many things I will miss about not getting the Volvo, on reflection, the size was too big (we have no children - I want an SUV for my bad back) and would have been a nightmare to park. Whilst my wife was tired of my continuous fascination with car research, she gave good feedback during a test drive yesterday and was very happy with the drive. In the end, the reputation for reliability made the RX pip the competition. I had more positive comments from friends and family about the image of the Volvo but I think it would have been seen as a bit too much of a Chelsea Tractor when driving around town and in the driveway. The RX has a very distinctive style but is modest in size in comparison. We're now very excited about Saturday. Just got to finalise whether the rubber mat for the boot and maybe the protective film for the door handles. I have loved my Jaguar XF during the last 6 years but looking forward to having a bigger smile driving this one! Alex
  4. I find out in the next few weeks if I get the pay rise in expecting which I've earmarked for this. I think I'll wander down to Milton Keynes or Cambridge Lexus and look at everything RX!
  5. Wow! That's a huge discount. Puzzling why they'd think pre-reg would fetch more. I'd written going for new / pre-reg but may have to reconsider now
  6. P.S. When would be a good time to buy? Is it worth waiting until the new one is delivered so the market has more trade-ins?
  7. Thanks everyone for the advice. I only test drove the Premier when I was last buying 6 years ago and still have the memories of the comfort. It was a reason why I bought the Jag - I felt it wasn't as engaged and also could see myself dosing off on long journeys! With my back now and having had my fast-ish car, this weakness becomes an advantage. The better half doesn't like SUVs too much (despite being German, she hates BMW and any of their x-range or the Audi / Merc equivalents) but she instantly gave her approval with the RX. The only other one to have got that was the new XC90 but that's too pricey and I don't need the size. I will heed your advice and give them both a go. The Advance is quite a bit cheaper and there's more second choices out there. Though I did like the HUD! (I know this is in the F-sport and might try that out too).
  8. Hi all, In the next few months I should be in a position to finally get my hands on an RX 450h. My current car is a Jaguar XF and it has served me well for 6 years and 100k miles but I've got a bad back so need a higher car and the RX is one of the few that the wife approves of. The question is; which one? I have a bad back (only 34 but years of sport and being 6'4" and 19 stone doesn't help!) but don't do a lot of mileage. I was always planning to get a Premier due to the air suspension which will probably help the back (and I love gadgets!) but wanted people's thoughts on whether it is worth it? I'd be looking at a used one, about 2-3 years old. Thoughts/advice welcomed! Alex
